haha...had to spill coffee at my iPads screen (well, short before that happened)when i read the original post.
I dont really care, never had a Gamecube, and even if it a 'homage' to Zelda games i cant get Zelda games on my iphone so thats another reason why this games so great.
Sorry if this has been asked before, but my iPad Air just arrived (yay!) and I was wondering if Oceanhorn somehow looks even better on it than, say, on a 3rd Generation iPad?
iPad Air runs it 60fps compared to 3rd Gen iPad (30fps). So, the experience will be even smoother. It really feels great to play it on iPad Air. Congrats on your new hardware!
I have compared it on an ipad2 and my new ipad air, first the ipad2 version looks very good and there's not a huge difference from the iPad air graphically but the difference is when you play. The ipad2 version although plays fine, is a little jerky and stutters from time to time, whereas the air version is very very smooth.
I've played for almost 6 hours and only got 25% completion - and I think it's a fantastic game so far. I've always been a big fan of the Zelda games and don't have any problem with a game like Oceanhorn copying it so faithfully. I think it takes all the best bits of Zelda and equals them, even betters them in some ways. I also think it has the feel of Bastion in places as well. And there's nothing wrong with games influencing other games, even to this extent - some of the best video games ever have very clear and obvious influences. Having said that I do feel the game does have its own 'vibe' and feel. Congratulations have to go to the developers for making such an enjoyable, lush-looking and polished game for such a reasonable price and at such a small file size - and best of all with no IAP. Tbis really shows how ios games should be done...
Great game, which I will play more extensively and review this weekend. Big support and props from Austria! Hope the game does well!
This post is more towards the devs, so just ignore it please as it might have spoilers. Spoiler For some reason the arrows fired by the dart trap spontaneously catch fire. They land near the fire holder, but I don't think they should really spontaneously combust like that. Also, I went to swim to a little bank, but went through it and drowned. Also, the whole fireworks romance thing was pretty corny but how old is the boy exactly? Because I didn't know if I should take 'let's plant the seed' as an analogy or not... And finally, a little hint on how to get blood stones would be nice- I only figured it out by being a noob and whacking the red rock and noticed the pitch went up and all of a sudden I had a bloodstone. Maybe the collector could say something like 'they are hard as rock, maybe hitting them with your sword could do something?' Not major stuff, just little things here and there.
Frankly, the Zelda comparison is getting exaggerated out of proportion. There have been many other games in this style over the course of gaming including Landstalker on the Megadrive and the Alundra series on Playstation. Essentially this is the first high quality action/rpg on IOS. If Zenonia and the others were as nicely composed as Oceanhorn we would have described as Zelda clones, too.
I'm actually at the Sky Island and I'm kinda stuck : Spoiler I'm in the Grandmaster's Study and I have to find the Hidden Key. And the Red book tells me to face the 2 Guardians after I light up the fire. I have actually done that but nothing happens, there is no chest appearing or anything else at all. Is it a kind of bug or maybe I forgot a step in the puzzle? Did it work for you the first time or you also experience this problem?
It is not a bug. Which language version you are playing by the way? Spoiler Light up the two braziers/torches/fire pillars there in the middle of the room. Then stand in front of the knight statue near the doorway to the left. Chest drops down, don't move - but turn towards the chest and open it.
while 30fps is fine i totally enjoy if a game delivers 60fps.So,how about an ipad4?is it running on more fps than on iPad3?I mean theres still a huge step from 3 to 4 ;-)
A really big "Thank You!" for this. I was playing the English version because actually, the French version crashes on my Ipad 2. Don't know why but it might be an isolated problem coming from my Ipad. At least I hope so.
I actually got into the well by accident during the tutorial. Go to the picnic lookout and drop down the steps and then drop into the well
Yup : Spoiler Take the way upp at the left of the Checkpoint. Then go down by taking the ladder. After that you will exit in the Hermit's Picknick place and you'll be able to jump in the Well if you go South to the Well (you'll be surellevated so you just have to walk in the well). I hope it was clear enough.
