Finished it off now. A really enjoyable, well-polished adventure that is definitely worth the price and one of the stand-out premium games on the App Store. My only complaint is I do feel there should have been a point where the developers decided that was one Zelda trope to far. I don't want to use the term "rip-off", because this game is too good to be given that moniker, but it's disappointing that a team so talented simply lifted elements like the Zora water race and shoved them in there without a thought. An extra dash of creativity could have made this game an absolute classic.
The second Oceanhorn game they make, hopefully delivered faster and fully financed by the money they make on this one, could be just that: a more creative and independently envisioned game, with less obvious links to the past. I think it already is a classic - on iOS; I mean, if you haven't played Zelda, is there any reason why you wouldn't enjoy this game immensely? If it doesn't sell more than those annoying angry birds I'll be disappointed.
Two hours without thinking anything else than the game... It's incredibly good, i feel the the same sensations than in zelda: a link to the past, when i was twelve, playing on my supernes, sick in my bed, and so happy to play instead of being at school. I'm not at school anymore, but still able to immerge myself in games, if they are exceptionnaly well made. A real pleasure, a great great game, probably my game of the year. Last one for me was waking mars, a true revelation too, in a different kind. This one remembers me my childhood, and it's so precious! I really appreciate the musics, they suits perfectly, i have no others words. Sorry for my bad english, and thanks to the devs! It's a wonderful game.
Thank you so much for your kind words and @everyone else who enjoys this experience as much as the whole team enjoyed creating it.
I'm two hours into the game and I agree. It's disappointing really, because it's a well made game that should have more of it's own personality. I just don't understand some decisions. They could have at least changed things like heartpieces and other Zelda tropes that were straight up copied with very little to no change. The developer clearly isn't creatively bankrupt, so I just don't get it. Unfortunately, it comes off as cheap and lazy. Like I said, it's a shame because it's a good game that will get bad mouthed by some people (and I can't say unfairly) because it goes a little beyond inspiration sometimes. I do recommend the game though, especially if you don't have a 3DS to play A Link Between Worlds.
Help! Really can't get the quest in the second town. Tarikel or something. Where am I supposed to go?
I take it your favorite games are Glu games. Over 1 gb sized games for free. What could be better, right?
As of this post, it's #59 in top paid and #122ish top grossing. I agree, I hope it goes to the top! To those who hoped for more creativity, yes, there are strong similarities to Zelda - but isn't that the point? That's why I was so interested in this game to start with, anyway. I think they did a great job. No, it's not as good as Zelda, but it's an awesome game and worth every penny!
If you talk to people (or get a message in a bottle) you get to know about other islands. I'm in one called "Withered Lands".
