Didn't like the old harvesting/buff visuals /interaction. So its a toggle, and whenever a gravefield or essence pool it either harvests or buffs automatically. plus no particles but tentacle-ish visuals.

That's a clever way to make it more natural. And the tentacles look awesome.

Those tentacles are really amazing... But...
This looks really shows how static and awkward the scenery is.
I feel that adding moving effects like these tentacles will make the map look awkward if its all alone. The pattern on the floor doesn't really help it sadly. If you were I, I would try to place tree movement and "hair" movement on the monsters. Maybe add some patches of dried grass to flow in the wind as well.
I like it as it is, this is just constructive criticism :)

I think, adding grass or moving elements would do wonders as well, but I think it would hike the processing up beyond what current gen devices are comfortable at doing. I am however adding tiny animated elements here and there, such as flags waving on the battlefield pieces, and all the tentacles in the dreamtime level are waving., as are some of the foliage in other levels. So it's possible but with moderation.. ;)

But I do agree, I guess that's why there's so little full 3D games in this genre, it requires a lot more work than a 2d background..;)

Yea that should be good enough. There could be a toggle to turn it off though so slower devices will have static visuals and faster devices can have fluid visuals.
Hopefully all of the work will pay off...

I think I've got a handle on dialogue. here's the first iteration..
I'll keep the user dialogue ssilent and reduced to positive and negative feedback. You can still have spanning dialogue trees, by simple good or bad responses.. It's the Bioware style dialogue wheel reduced to as little as possible..

I love how this is released while I'm borrowing a laptop for the weekend! I can do a small test tomorrow or sunday. In a week to a month, I will be getting a [linux] desktop and will hopefully be able to test the game more.

Also, because the game wont be on the iPod 4... Are you considering a PC version so more people can enjoy the game?

    First impression

I tested the demo for some 20 minutes (couldn't do more).

It's fascinating, voiceover is great and the music spot-on. I love the visual in terms of style, and I won't comment more on that part - looking forward to seeing it live.

As for gameplay, this demo looks more like a video, just characters go where you touch. Maybe it would have been better to release a tutorial + level 1 - or even just a tutorial. But maybe I just needed to play it a bit more.

In any case, you got my interest. My general impression is that this game can take you into its world in just a couple minutes. If the game mechanics are as good as the atmosphere, it'll be a major success.

Any release date other than Q1 2014? :D

Great job indeed with the demo, Muppet!
And no impressions from my side, the only computer I have is my work laptop, and I'm pretty sure it wont't run there.
Might give it a shot next week, if I find the time.

So the demo was so short, some people didn't explore and got stuck on the looping gate, lol
    Live and learn..
But working on some new creatures though,
    here's a sample

Announcment, Oberon's Court is coming to Steam.

So it's been a while, but not a quiet one behind the scenes.

    Here it is: announcement: Steam!!!

So it's official Oberon's Court is coming to Steam.

Oberon's Court Shadow Chains is now launching first on Steam instead of mobile platforms. Mobile Users are not left behind though, although they will get it later. Being on steam will shape a tested and more polished product thanks to the avid steam community and platform.

Details on release schedule, pricing and so forth will follow in the near future. Development will take some extra time, as I turn around the trajectory to also give the best possible PC experience.

learn more about Steam here: http://store.steampowered.com/about/

I know this might not be the right place to be excited about this, but its a big deal. Steam will allow the game to hopefully flourish amid a community of gamers, providing critique and feedback. Which will hopefully make the game way better when it finally reaches mobile..

It will also add an entirely new dimension to the workload as solo developer, but its an adventure that I hope will provide a better end result. Coming to steam after having previously done the succesfull skyrim mod "moonpath to Elsweyr" feels like Oberon's Court is coming home.

But the game has been also solidly developed for over a year with mobile in mind, so don't worry that won't go to waste..

    cheers,
    Tomas Sala
