    About discoverability:
I only look at the Roleplaying and Strategy categories in the Appstore.
Strategy is slowly getting worse, with more crap releasing per week.
But RP is really slow going, especially for paid apps. Some days I don't see a single new one.
And Oberon's Court fits in there, so RP&Strategy might be the best categories for you.

Other than that: Removing the ability to browse through the whole Appstore was a terrible decision by Apple. When my girlfriend gave me my first iPod, I spent a few days going through all RP & Strategy titles available. Yup, the whole long list. Bought maybe 50 games just from that. Sadly, no longer possible.

Hmmm i'm starting to understand why there are android only games now. I always thought the AppStore was better than the PlayStore with it's better games but that wasn't true at all. The Play store is 10x better than the AppStore, not because of its app selection, but because the discoverability is one of the store's main focus. Having selections like "apps by author", "games like this", "other apps people have bought", "apps similar to past purchases", "if you liked this app, here are a few other apps", etc really make the PlayStore really make buying an android worth it.

Dang! Well I've lived on iOS 6 and dunno anything else. I honestly dont like it at all either lol. The AppStore is really awkward and just... I just don't like it lol

For my private tablet, I've switched from ipad mini to a nexus 7(2013) and never looked back.

I've got a bunch of IOS devices, and I do still get that tingle from how clean and together it feels, but personally IOS7 was a limit for me. I don't want to live in some baby boomers post modern fantasy.. too much white. the fact that you could only find the newest and most featured game was just on top of that..

I also have gripes with the playstore, but at least its changing for the better.

Steam is the great example of how to connect with the game-buying audience really. They do it best, and allow for developers also to make a fair return on their work.. I wish both apple and Google would take some pointers from them, seeing as gaming purchases is over 50 % of their app business.

Update wise there's good news and bad. The bad is I'm behind schedule. The good is I've been de polishing and debugging. And have a smoothly working core finally. I've also engaged A professional writer for the storyline and campaign. But that means I, m preparing to take longer to make it, at least 4 months longer. Due to personal circumstances I need to take it slightly slower for a few months as well.

Take it easy, will you? It's ready when it's ready, and at least I will happily wait.
    Professional Writer sounds great, too.
Hope everything is going well on your side, and that the personal circumstances are positive ones. You didn't just become a dad, did you? ;) I remember how little time I suddenly had after our rugrat was born.

Side buttons are better in aesthetics and usefullness. Keep in mind how thin the new iPhones are.. It is easier to reach and clears up a large amount of space for gameplay

Edit : the thing in the lower right corner should be moved to the top right (or top left depending on your taste) and the buttons should be vertically lined up on the right side.

Of course, there could be multiple different layouts and tbh, letting players pick and choose would be the best option. A varient of the layout I mentioned could be having all the buttons on the left side to cater to those who are left handed. Two other layouts would be top and bottom (the picture, and a layout symmetric to the picture.).
Another way you could go at this is having player drag where they want the buttons and allow them to resize them (see MC4's control layout thing)...

The new GUI looks good indeed, quite the improvement from the earlier versions.

Aside from that, I just thought that a bit more murkiness/fogginess in the foreground could look interesting, especially in contrast with the ochre tone of your last screenshot.
