By the way, this has nothing to do with the game, but are you filipino Steve (well oversea Chinese)? Because my wife's name is Uy too ^^ Sorry for that "out of the blue" question.
Just played a few minutes and I must say that this game is very good, love the story, the artworks and the gameplay, very nice game! It's beautiful and fluid, not frustrating at all and smooth. Great job dev! I give it a 5 stars for the visual, I really love the artworks!
Yes, I'd forgotten about that. I put it on the to do list. We'll get that fixed in the next update. Another issue is that if you parry multiple enemy attacks at the same time with the Ultimate Strike, the animation will cancel out and you'll end up doing multiple attacks as well, costing valuable stamina. Thought we had that fixed but it keeps popping up. It's more noticeable in Hard though. Yes, I think Super Empire Strikes Back was the one with the lightsabers? I can't recall if the first Super Star Wars had it. I beat it on a rental back in the good old days, so I don't have too many memories of it, except awesomeness. Yeah, Battle Angel Alita was one of my favorites. It wasn't an influence with this game though, been a long time since I read it. I would say Ninja Gaiden crossed with Journey would be a better description of what I was going for, with the get-stronger-everytime-you-die addictive quality of Dragon Quest. I hope James Cameron gets around to finally doing Battle Angel like he promised a million years ago. Yes, Chinese by blood, but born in the Philippines. Moved to America when I was 5, raised on Transformers.
Quick update guys: There's a minor, but annoying bug in the current release. If you die or start over, you will start every run on the same difficulty as the previous run, even though the difficulty toggle always defaults to "Normal" at the start screen. So if you want to change your difficulty, you'd have to toggle the difficulty to the setting you want, it doesn't necessarily start at Normal every time. So if you accidentally played on Hard and died, you may still be playing on hard if you didn't manually toggle the difficulty back to normal afterwards. This has been fixed already, too bad we can't get an update out for a few weeks yet.
(silent lol) found out the hard way. Thought i beat the the game in normal mode to unlock some goodies, then it shows me the easy mode, argh. Well, ten hours later i beat the game in hard mode. Tough one. No need to max out the time and stamina upgrades, and definitely no dash forward needed (imho, pretty useless anyways). Concentraded mainly on reach, damage and jump. The only thing i didn't like was the delay when you try to defend. But this is due to the input attack/defend, i guess. I got used to it. Though it's way more complex, fans of Rōnin would like this game. My two bucks were very well spent on this piece of art. Congrats !
A new update, which will be released after New Year's, will have that difficulty issue fixed, as well as enabling block and dash caching. You'll be able to start your block input before the current animation finishes. Same for the dash, which is a personal favorite of mine even though it's not an absolute requirement like, say, Stamina Thief. This won't solve the block 0.07 second delay when you try to block from a standard run, but if you ever need such an instant block there is always the Ultimate Strike parry as an alternative. Additionally, the first strike animation will have the first frame lag removed and I'll tweak the normal difficulty first world setting a bit so it's more accessible regardless of whether you choose to start on easy or normal mode (personally I would recommend easy for beginner Level 1 players though).
I put up some promo codes in the Promo section, here's some for this thread. LTTKNE7JE66X HT74HX6YKHTL MAMNK6MYYRT4 K7HLMJFMFKEY W74EA6ERKK79 Happy New Year's everyone!
I used LTTKNE7JE66X Thank you very much. I'll be sure to leave impressions as the game looks wonderful. Cheers again!
TouchArcade review is up. 3.5 stars, main complaint is the slow start. It's frustrating that we have the update just sitting here that should have fixed the issue already, but we have to wait another few days for apple to review it. Oh Christmas, this is all your fault!
And Version 1.0.1 is now out! -Starting enemies are now weakened for a more gradual difficulty curve (you should be netting a few thousand EXP within the first 20 minutes just by beating the first stage alone- this should eliminate the starting grind). -Difficulty toggle error fixed -First attack animation frame delay eliminated -Block and dash caching enabled -Mission Mode removed (we need a greater install base before we can make leaderboards viable on it)

We have the graphics ready for the next update, but we don't know how memory will hold up and neither I nor my programmer have an ipad3, 4, or Air to test it on. We'd just need 2 or 3 volunteers to install the build through itunes (sorry, no testflight), give it a run, and let us know if there are any gamebreaking crashes so we can officially check it off for release. There's a no-collision toggle in this dev build so you wouldn't even have to play (enemies cannot hit you), so it'd be preferable if you already beat the game if you don't want to spoil anything for yourself. This test build will not affect the paid app in any way. Anyone who's interested, please PM me. First come, first served.
