Sounds great. I hope you could check out the control scheme for Ronin which is fairly similar, but then later on added an option that used the right side of the screen for the taps, and the left side for the swipes, which a lot of players really liked better. There are still no buttons, but everything works flawlessly.
I haven't played Ronin, but I'll look into it. I usually stay clear away from endless runners. BTW, what's to keep players from just personally assigning the 2 halves of the screens for just swipes or taps is it is now? Or is this just a way to eliminate accidental swipes, or allow multitouch controls?
I loved the new option in Rōnin as well. And i had the same thought after watching this new video. Just saying, you have another fan here. Quite sure it's planned for next year, maybe two more months ?
We're gonna try to get it out before Christmas. We're just trying to iron out the last few bugs in the story mode now. Some bonus unlockables like the Mission Mode may not make it in the initial release, but you unlock them by beating the game anyways so we may get the update out before most players finish the game. Also, I just tried out the Free version of Ronin, and I don't think you have anything to worry about. The reason the new control option works so well in Ronin is because the original control option, with the unintuitive swipe forward to attack, was just terrible by design. By default, Oasis' controls work similarly to the second version of Ronin's except you won't be forced to tap or swipe in any particular region of the screen. So it's much easier to play one handed, with a stylus, upside down, mirrored, or any other way you want to try to challenge yourself. Maybe I'll do an offscreen video showing this later on.
You mean tapping with a secondary touch while the first touch is still swiping? I suppose so, I'm doing it right now as I type this. Although I can't say it's the most dependable way of getting your attacks out. I've never been in a situation where I've ever had to get an attack out simultaneously with a gesture command.
Although this isn't normally a game I would go for... it looks awesome, the graphics and sound alone sold it for me. Hoping for a release soon!
As promised, an off cam video demonstrating the gesture controls. Unfortunately I'd gotten so used to playing on the ipod 5 with my thumb that doing this on the big screen with my pointer finger led to a lot of mistakes. Not the best demonstration of my skills, but it should give you an idea of how it works.
looks great. reminds me of a star wars game (snes i think), and also gives me a God of Blades vibe. looking forward to this.
Just sent it in for review! Cross our fingers there are no hidden issues and the game is released before the Holiday Shutdown next Saturday! And the full title now is officially: Oasis: Path to Redemption (because apparently Oasis was already taken by some kind of church app!)
As an avid comic book geek, I've read some of Steve's work, namely Feather and Jova's Harvest. Really good stuff. Looking forward to this game.
On that note, Mortal/ Immortal was just released in ComiXology this week. It's digital only, so I would recommend the ComiXology version over the Kindle one due to the better compression.
And it's out! I guess I'll start a new thread in the available games forum. So catch me there. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/oasis-path-to-redemption/id781284806?mt=8
Really good game, this one. I really enjoyed playing through it, and now I'll work on maxing my character. I had a similar game idea of a story based runner game, but I did not make any steps toward finding a developer crew to share my ideas with. I'm happy that I've found out about this game. Also, I suggest everyone to read Steve's forewords in the bonus section. He's one of the few very level headed and not money oriented developers out there, his group deserves every cent for this game.
