You're right. The thing that started happening more and more on the app store and which folks got the hang of eventually, is that new titles mostly all share the same pattern of initial higher prices with drastic cuts later on. As much as I was interested in NyxQuest, I knew with enough certainty that its price was going to get slashed soon enough, and so I simply added it to my AppShopper list and moved on. Some gamers will feel it worth it to spend more to get access to it immediately. It just sucks for these guys when publishers cut prices too early, often a sign that sale figures aren't standing up to expected earnings. I believe a lot of gamers have caught on to this and are now exercising caution.
Yeah I feel like it's a kick in the teeth when they reduce the price less then a week, I feel like they are punishing their true fans who buy their games immediately, and rewarding the others by offering it so cheap. It's happened so much I try not to even get annoyed anymore, I look at the big picture and realize it's only a few dollars in reality, but in the iOS gaming world a few dollars is a few more games, I think that's why it's kinda irritating since I have a huge list of "to buy" games and I could have ticked more off for the extra few dollars that could have been saved.. Though if it's an excellent game, like world of goo, I won't even bother waiting for a price drop.. Basically, if I'm bored and want a new game and a reasonably good game just got released, I'll buy it immediately, but if I already have a bunch of new games that I'm playing I'll put it on "app zap" price drop list too..though sometimes my impatience gets the better of me and I can't help myself. I ended up taking the plunge and getting nyx, not fun y though, I just started downloading it, then turned my wifi off and stopped it so later on if I have more room on my iPad I might download it and give it a go..but at the moment my very small amount of spare memory is very precious to me! Lol
