So I've played a few matches and I've played the single player as well. First off, I'm not too great, anyone have any tips? But I've had some problems. During the multiplayer match I was in, we had some lag, I don't know if it was the app or just one of our connections, but the opponent's ship was all over the place. Then my only other problem is the app constantly crashes on me. I've noticed that there's a significant increase in the number of crashes when I chat during a multiplayer match.
So far the games looking good, i like the controls, some people are moaning about the controls but i would rather have them like this. There is 1 or 2 little bugs sometimes when im playing it turns it's self of it doesn't crash it just goes back to the front screen also the edge of the map the white line i keep getting stuck inbetween the map and outside the map.... Other than that everything seams fine, i like the music and the graphics are pretty well done, but there is 2 things that need updating for when the actual game comes out, more ships at the moment theres only a few also more servers because at the moment playing with 3 just isnt enough. Ive played it for a few hours and it is looking like a really good game
Finally had some time to do some testing and like what I have seen so far. The asteriods-like gravity really adds a lot to the game and requires a lot of skill to hit your opponents. Have not encountered any bugs yet, and the game runs silky smooth on my 3Gs. No one was online though, so I just played in arcade. EDIT Forgot to mention, the ability to destroy meteors would be nice
had a play with the controls. its pretty good, it took me a few seconds to realise it was a top down view :s lol maybe im just stupid? now im just waiting for people to come online
More beta tips Ive been playing the game for a while now and just got a few things to say. The games great. Great controls and fun gameplay. A few things might be nice though. For one it'd be great that if you quit a single player game it would save your progress. Another thing that would be worth looking at to fix would be the shooting. Sometimes the bullets act in strange ways (even Shrink sometimes) so if you could please take a look at it because It's rather aggrevating trying to shoot at enemies with plasma rifles only. Other than that great game and I'll keep on testing.
They dont shrink. The "bullets" are not really visible. What you see is the trail they leave. Bullets move relatively to your speed. When you charge forward and shoot, the bullets are very fast, just like in real life (imagine jumping out of a driving car. You initially have the car's speed and gain the speed you add by jumping. Lets say the car isnslow and you gain exactly as much speed as you already have because of the car. If you jump to the front [driving direction of the car] you will double your speed. But if you jump into the opposite direction, you have carspeed minus jumpspeed which in that case is zero speed...). So, shooting while moving forward = faster bullets = longer trail. Shooting while moving backwards = slow bullets = short trail... This may sound confusing (cant explain it too well xD), but I think this is a feature and not a bug.
I also noticed that the shooting is a little weird. The bullets seem to be affected by the ships momentum, so if you are moving to the side when you shoot, the bullets will travel diagonally forward and to whichever direction you are moving rather than just straight from the point where they are released. Fixing this would make the game a lot more fun and more playable. Also, I think it would be really nice to have a break button. I know this isn't logical to be able to break in space, but what if you did it like a smart break that would fire the right thrusters to get you to stop, that would sound more reasonable. The reason I say this is because trying to figure out which direction you are going so that you can counter your momentum is quite a task, especially when you hardly have anything to reference with. I have found myself circling power-ups because I can't figure out how to counter my momentum fast enough to grab them before they disappear. Other than those complaints, the game is coming along great. The graphics are excellent, the intro movie is great, and the controls, with the exceptions above, are also very good. Can't wait until these are fixed so that I can enjoy it even more.
Can't you understand it's not a bug?? It's a unique twist in gameplay that make this game stand out of the crowd. This game may be har to understand, but it's fun to master. After some training, you can circle enemy ships without getting hit once.
I never said it was a bug i was just stating that it was somewhat hard trying to hit enemies with the plasma rifle. I'm just pointing out things that I noticed that were, I guess you could say, "peculiar"(thats still not a very good word for it), I mean isn't that the point of testing the game? Well whatever, another thing i'd like to point out is that the ship zooms in a tad too much when not in movement. while you are moving most of the time anyways it still feels a little weird. Still fun game though.
Yes, I completly agree with this shooting. See the main issue is when your turning and shooting the bullets turn with you and DO NOT go in a straight line. This is extremely aggrevating as I keep trying to spin around ships, but I cannot hit them while I'm avoiding their fire. This causes for kind of bad gameplay as its NOT a pick up and play game at all. Another thing is the screen moves while your ship does and it makes me very very dizzy so I cannot play this game for long.
Its realistic, the bullets move relative to the ship. "Fixing" that would definitely make the game 1. Less interesting and 2. Too easy.
Oh, and about the break button idea. I agree partly. It would make the game much easier, make aiming easier etc... How about having two kind of match rooms, one where u can break, one where u can't?
For some reason it won't let me play on line, it doesn't have a next button on the spaceship select screen
