It's interesting to see how some of our members living close to this conflict and are sharing their opinions on it. Hopefully this doesn't escalade into a large war.
Kim Jong Il has been rattling his sabre for years now, and every time he realizes the world isn't paying enough attention to him, he rattles it a little louder. But so far he's been just that -- a troll who's all growl and no bite. But he's been grooming his Number One Son, Kim-Jong Un, to take over for him when he crawls back under his bridge to die, and it was that son who ordered this attack, which may mean he's not just a troll, he's a sociopathic troll. A young, sociopathic troll who hasn't even matured past his beer bong years, who is going to be given total control over the DPRK. He has already been named vice chairman of the Central Military Commission. That is scary.
When I sat at Starbucks reading the newspaper this morning, I stroked my chin and said, "I wonder what shit could happen between Hodapp and yourofl10 now?". Then I ate Booch's Muffin. And now stop being mean to yourofl10, folks. It is not nice to make fun of someone with an exceptionally small vocabulary.
Don't worry, Palin won't be the next president of the United States. In fact she won't even come close to getting the nomination in 2012. She's just not presidential material. She can sound dumb at times, maybe not as dumb as the liberal media wants to try and make her sound, but still pretty flaky, no doubt. But I'm more worried about the politicians that are actually in office, like these 2 who are actually even dumber than Palin, and they lie a lot more too.
After catching her on the reality show called "Alaska", I'm going to have to agree with you Vovin. (anyone watch her rock climbing?)
North Korea says they're "on the brink of war". On Sunday, South Korea and USA will launch a Naval exercise in the Yellow Sea. North Korea has threatened additional attacks if they go through with the exercise. http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/Canada/20101126/korean-peninsula-close-to-war-101126/
China seems eager to avoid escalation, it's reassuring to see someone on the other side with a bit of sense. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-11850821
Yeah it's definitely a good thing that China has stayed neutral and hasn't decided to side with North Korea. I think South Korea should send in a team on ninjas to assassinate Kim Jong-il and his crazy henchmen
North Korea is a weak and poor country with a poor and under equipped army who don't have the manufacturing industry to back their army up. They have no allies and their leader is knocking on deaths door. It's not in their interest to go to war and I really doubt they have nuclear weapons, we've seen no proof of it and you can't just go out and buy them. If they really went to war their army would crumble like Iraq.
They almost definitely have nuclear weapons. Proof is the 2 nuclear tests (controlled nuclear explosions) they have carried out since 2006. But I doubt they have technology to launch any nukes much further than Japan. The rest of what you said is correct though, if it wasn't for the nuclear weapons then South Korea and USA could easily win a war against them.
North Korea's forces stand up very well against South Koreas: ...and they've got China as an ally, although thankfully they seem reluctant to get involved. Plus, I don't know if any of you saw this story: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-11805111
