What works the best for me is the combination of accelerometer and d-pad. That way I can focus on the d-pad only to do tricks.
Don't worry about not figuring that out... It took me a long time to figure out that I even could manual in this game... I was just mashing buttons (as I did when I first started playing these games) and accidentally did a manual. It took a while to figure out how I actually did that manual, but the game got WAY more fun after I did. So yeah, good luck learning how to use it effectively. You'll need it. The manual, not the luck.
Yeah, I got that one too. Just hoping that you unlock Chopper Drop and Skate Heaven when you beat the game. And how do you unlock Spider-Man if you can't use custom skaters? And that brings up my 4 big problems with the game: 1.) No multiplayer 2.) No create-a-modes 3.) Crappy D-Pad 4.) Terrible new soundtrack (jb'ers can fix this). I can overlook the problems since it's one of my favorite childhood games, and still one of my favorites on my iPod, but it'd be so much better if they'd just add/fix those problems.
I'm adoring this game so far. Just as awesome as I remember. The controls I've been doing fine with. I do have two nagging issues so far, though, and they both deal with sound: - A lot of times, when the timer starts beeping, the sound of the beep keeps bending and getting higher-pitched, lower-pitched... it sounds terrible. - Sound popping in and out is a problem so far for me. Sometimes it won't make the sound that I'm grinding. It will just show me sliding, with no grinding sound at all. - Another example is the school bells in the School level. Sometimes when they activate, they also stop ringing if I start grinding or something. I don't know the exact situation it occurs in, but it does happen frequently. ... basically tons of sound issues that they need to work on. And finally, the last problem I have with it is the lack of custom soundtracks. The music from the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 would have been so great to have, both for nostalgia and for the fact that the music was actually good. This new soundtrack is utter crap. I understand the problem with licensing and all that jazz, but they could have at least had the decency to allow for custom soundtracks. The same five songs playing over and over gets old really quick. It's even more painful when the songs suck as much as these ones do. I know I can turn the music off (and I did, a long time ago), but that's a really fun part about Tony Hawk: The music that plays in the background. Otherwise it just doesn't sound like Tony Hawk I really hope the developers add in custom soundtracks eventually. I'd want those more than anything.
Or if you allready have some more stats on ollie you can just go straight ahead from the beginnig hold down ollie to gain speed and grind on the rail that your heading at and shortly after you start grinding hit ollie again to jump up to the bill.
. .. ......... ...........DOWNHILL JAM?!?!? I was playing that level on my ps2 thps1 yesterday! Are there any other hidden levels?
I suppose the same as in the other versions. You get a new level from THPS1 for each gold medal and there is this secret moon level thing.
Is it possible to do reverts when coming down from a half pipe jump? or was that in later versions of the game?? I just remember being able to pull a trick on a ramp, then hitting a revert, to a manual, then linking it into a grind... It always led to big combos! Now, every time I hit a ramp it kills my combo. This is really a problem in the hangar where there's a long gring spot with a ramp on each end. I want to link a fat combo here, but just can't keep it going... Any help, please?!?
No, I think it is possible since Toy Hawk's Pro Skater 3 . I remember reading it as a new feature on the Cover of the Playstation Version. This will kill some Combo possibilitys. And Sticker Slap is missing.
Try playing THPS1... they didn't even have manuals back then. Comboing in that game was almost impossible except for grind, jump, flip, grind etc. And I don't miss the Sticker Slap much. I didn't use it THAT much... I didn't even think about it until THUG2 came out.
Beating Gold on the second competition unlocks Chicago from THPS 1, did the original THPS2 have the older levels like this? I can't wait to get area 51!
Thanks for the help guys, I just couldn't remember when the revert was introduced. So is there a way to keep combos going after hitting a ramp? It would be nice to get an almost infinite combo going at that one spot in the hangar!!
Trying to find that out... I'm on Venice beach with all levels 90% complete so far, just need to get the money...
