@1337brian ya I couldn't land at all. I could do tricks rotations etc but he just wouldn't fall. @RJ I used Steve Caballero. As for how I got up there: I was heading towards that ramp. I used it to jump over the roof and got stuck on the wall. I *think* I was doing a grab trick while heading there. Don't know if that's relevant or not but got stuck nevertheless.
Turns out I didn't know about boneless! Still, I'm having enormous trouble mastering the rhythm, and only do one half the time when I try. Couple that with having to time it right and line up with a ramp and target, and it's still really hard for me. I honestly have little hope for getting the whole game 100%.
In the New York level, there's a bar that comes down over the wall heading to the banks (the area where the secret tape is). It's not there originally, so apparently it comes down after you do something in particular. I got it when free skating (don't know how), but it seems to have reset after starting the level in career mode. Do you guys know what it is that makes that happen?
You have to get all 5 Subway Tokens with that character to unlock the escalator up to the train. That might have something to do with the gate breaking down on the wall that separates the Brooklyn Banks from the rest of the level. Hope this helps
Yeah, I did that. I've completed the level (except for Sick Score). At one point in Free Skate mode, there was a bar hanging down onto the street from that wall separating Brooklyn Banks (I've seen it in videos on YouTube as well), but it's not there now. It just made getting over there so much easier.
Yeah I know what bar you're talking about. I have no idea how that comes down. The gate on the wall is down, though, right? You can just wallride and ollie+grind up the wall?
Yep. I'm just no good at wallride+wallies. So I'm having a hell of a time with the secret tape in Philly.
Bad news - In trying to transfer save games from my PC to iPod I was stupid enough to delete my almost complete save game.... All I had left to do was unlock and beat the Bullring... If anyone is jailbroken here and wants to give me their complete savegame, PM me. Half of the game for me was just skating around with everything unlocked, so I don't mind.
I'm pretty sure it will show up once you get the secret tape... And Philly is by far the hardest level for me! the best I can tell you is have almost everything maxed out, ride straight down the path up top the left side of the fountain... Cut a hard right just to the left of the tree and jump as far out over the fountain as possible and land on the wire heading over the fountain, jump grind, jump grind, repeatedly until you reach the other building, speed is the key here.... I've been told you can jump up to that building using the planters in front of it but I have never been able to make that work... but there is 3 pieces of cash, the drain the fountain, and the hidden tape so in all you have to successfully make the grind up there at least 4 times, which took me about an hour!
I've finished all the objectives in New York (except Sick Score), including the Secret Tape, but that wire/bar whatever still isn't there. So weird. I finally got the Secret Tape in Philly using the technique you described. Not nearly as hard as jumping onto the ledge then wallie-ing up the building to the roof. I did drain the fountain by planter-jumping to that ledge. My success rate in making that jump is probably like 1%. Bluntsliding the awning is gonna be really hard, as well.
How do you do these jumps? I'm trying to get up on top of a building in the School level, i've seen others do a wallie, but i never knew how they do it! I'm not going to ask where that tape is, i'm going to find it myself. (during my 4 hour road trip today. )
The "planter-jump" I referred to is in Philly, and is the last step in a combo of moves that can get you onto the building ledge where the fountain valves are (directly right of where you start). You have to grind that little ramp right next to where you start, jump the gap between the two wooden ramps, grind down the staircase railing, then at just the right time, do a boneless from the planter to get you on the ledge. It's really, really hard. Wallies aren't exactly easy, either. You just have to do an ollie off of a wallride, but the timing is difficult, and I haven't figured out the angling quite yet. I've seen video of a guy clearly doing multiple wallies up the side of a building. Of course, the videos I've seen of really sick stuff were definitely done on a console. The learning curve is steeper, and the possibilities maybe lessened, by the touch interface of the iPhone version. I wasn't able to complete the objectives in the school until after going through most of the other levels and maxing out all my stats. But then again, I'm a total noob.
I can not for the life of me figure out how to do a special trick...any help? It says for one of my riders it is a special kick flip with the buttons -> and <-. I tried pressing these in every combination in the air by themselves and with the kickflip button while the bar was blinking yellow, and no dice.
This is really lame, but I hope there's some way eventually to unlock stuff without actually completely beating the game. I really don't think I'm ever going to have the time to put in enough practice to beat it. Not even sure I'll be able to unlock the Bull Ring.
Why isn't there the Bar that indicates your balance when you're grinding a rail or doing a Lip Grab? It's way too hard to accomplish Lip Grabs without that Balance Bar that was in the PC version >.<
