Is there a threshold that would make this thread literally explode into logic? At this point shouldn't the thread be elsewhere like feedback or general? No no a new category called Comedy or "Internet hate and mobile gaming"! Honestly I can't wait to play now! How's that for logic?
TA stated a bunch of pages back that when this game leaves soft and goes global they will be rebooting the entire thread.
Feel free to try it and i recommend you try to play till you get the second ship (that's the point it starting to feel less frustrated )
Its probably for the best to pretend this didn't happen. But then it might happen all over again! On another note, Archer is on TV. Man I almost forgot about this great show!
Ah, this thread. But who knows? Maybe in the long run, the bumpy course it took has even been for the good. Cause now that everybody gave vent to their anger, we can continue discussing the actual game in more detail and hopefully also a more relaxed manner. If so, I'm happy to answer whatever questions you have and note whatever feedback you give. As I said early, the version of GOF3 that is currently available in the Dutch App Store only marks the very first step of a long, adventurous journey. And while we will not turn the whole game topsy-turvy, we still have plans to do a lot of adjustments, apply a lot of polishing and -- most importantly -- add a lot new content, features and functionalities.
Reading comprehension is such an overrated skill, don't you agree? That nonsense you spew forth (again *sigh*) was shut down already in direct reply to you, go look it up.
@senkoujin: Unfortunately, things are not that easy. The game has been conceived and developed as an online game. We cannot simply add an offline switch to it, just like we cannot simply add an online switch to GOF2 and turn it into an MMO. Personally, I'm having issues with the online requirement as well as I have a crappy provider and cannot even send a WhatsApp message most of the time I'm on the subway. So you can imagine how playing GOF3 on the way to or from the office works for me. I hope the connectivity issue can still be optimized, but I'm not a backend developer and I don't know what would be the best way to improve this situation. One thing I can tell you, however, is that it is not possible to solve this issue by introducing an "offline IAP". Sorry.
Seriously man, this game brings nothing but rage and anger from all of the fans. I guess people really put high hopes for this game in the beginning.
Speaking of adding content, can we expect paid DLC similar to GOF2. There are ALOT of F2P games where you can purchase more stories, campaigns, missions, areas of the map, and more. It is not out of reach for paid DLC to add to the game at all. Obviously it can't be to the extent of GOf2's DLC, I get that. But what kind of content can we expect? You must able to enlighten SOMETHINGS, I mean anything at all. Because you do talk about all these great things your adding and working on. I think it'll help brighten up the mood and bleakness of the game and players right now. Or are you going to tell us "nothing can be disclosed right now" like you said forever about GOF:Manticore when people wanted to know more.
I've copied and saved my original review that's takes up like half a story book so I can post it when it's reset if the game hasn't changed for the better....or for the worse lol
@Gunther4C: Regarding the content that is still to come, I can indeed not reveal any details at this point in tme. But I can post a couple of quotes from an interview our Head of Studio recently gave another games website. They should give you a good impression of what plans we still have for Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore. "The universe of Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore will not be a completed, sealed-off entity. Instead, it will be the mere starting point of something much, much bigger." "Dont get me wrong, the game will already be huge in scope and depth by the time it launches. And yet we will constantly build upon it and breathe new life into it in the weeks, months and years to come. Once the app is out and the foundation has been laid, there will be hardly any limits to how the game evolves. You want to fly new ships, explore new areas, complete new missions or even meet an alien species you have never seen before? We will give you that." "From simple content additions such as new ships and weapons to complex improvements such as additional game modes or core functionalities, there will be no limits to how GOF3 will be expanded."
Where have I heard that before... Oh right, SimCity. You have the same problem EA had with that one, "designed as an online game" is not a good argument when the other side is basically arguing that they don't want it to be designed as an online game.
You're quite the disrespectful cretin when you're harshly judging decent suggestions, suggestions of a convenience that a decent amount of people have also inquired about and wouldn't mind indulging in. I've read all posts and replies in this thread...if you did a thorough read, you would have noticed that I replied to those who have directly replied to me. I had pointed out that I had overlooked something, so I wrote a follow-up question and wanted to get a response from Tobi@Fishlabs in particular. No one else here can speak for Deep Silver FISHLABS except for Tobi. Thank you for enduring me, Tobi. I've exhausted all of my will in hopes of making Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore (mobile) more convenient. As you stated, the game has been conceived and developed as an online game; this is a finalizing statement, as I now completely understand that it's more than minor server checks, and implementing an offline mode would likely require a full client rewrite. Doing that would be too expensive and time-consuming, which in turn could screw up the entire scheduling planned for the game. Thank you for your responses and your unwavering integrity, Tobi. I'll just wait and see when the game releases worldwide. I rest my case.
Oh please, at least get a bit more creative with your insults, I deserve that much Yes, I do judge harshly, everyone deserves that I take the gloves off in an argument if your opinion fails to pass the high bar, because it at best has a casual acquaintance with reality ... well, you can blame me for putting the bar there, but it still doesn't pass. Maybe you should look elsewhere for the cause... And of course I'm disrespectful until indications to the contrary. Respect isn't something taken for granted, you earn it. And someone's tally is more than a few cents short in my book I already replied (page 6 I think) to your first suggestion about an offline mode, and that one was a lot more polite (go look it up). Of course I'm not speaking for Fishlabs, which doesn't mean I can't pour out snarkiness in liberal amounts. Don't worry, I have enough for everyone
If Galaxy on Fire 3 starts miserably failing, I'm sure they'll make adjustments. In 2016, the quickest way to lose your ass building an iOS game is making an offline premium game. So, while EA may have pivoted with SimCity, it'd take some monumental shift in every modern App Store trend for this to happen here.
It's all good, even I have my own bars set before taking the gloves off as well...but I wear two pairs. xD I'm not saying that you can't judge harshly, it's in your own right; well, at least I am aware of the existence of your bar, haha. Yup, that was a pretty big reply, and although I didn't say it directly, I did appreciate the time put in.
also worth mentioning that even though they pivoted with simcity, their online freemium simcity buildit made 10x more profit than the former ever did.
