Citation please. They *did* file for bankruptcy in 2013, that's what he wrote. Citation please. Citation please. Citation please. I see this And yes, feel free to point out I'm quote-mining here, it's intentional Citation please. Chief Broken Record says: Citation please. Not *all* of their old projects maybe, none of us know which positions were laid off. Nothing wrong with that. Didn't someone quote 4 currencies even? Ok, here's my only actual gameplay complaint. See, I couldn't even play yet. Because the only gametime I have currently is my breaks at work, and our smokers' room doesn't have Wifi. So yes, I'd very much like to see offline play but I do understand that - and why (hint: metrics) - Fishlabs went for the always-online option, even when I don't like it. From experience I guess that 3 currencies will be a bother, but I'll yet have to see that for myself. So I refrain from commenting on that particular subject until I can voice an informed opinion. And? Nothing wrong with that. Citation please In other words: No, you didn't.
To be fair, MHFU is a port of an already existing game, a "tried and tested" game, I guess you could say. Some people already have played it and know what they are expecting when they purchase it. They already know that MHFU is a very good game, so obviously they will buy it.
Lol, Carter's going to implode when he sees this thread. Especially after that dog game debacle last week. There will be blood.
@dunhila: Enough now! Monster Hunter Freedom Unite has been released on PSP five years before it was ported to the App Store. Our game is iOS-first and iOS-only. Stop comparing apples to oranges here. Also, your assumption that a smaller team could easily release a successful "premium" GOF3 with open world and all is simply wrong. Stop bringing this up again and again! I get that you really want to play such a game. But you will neither get it from us nor from any other company out there anytime soon. Sorry, but that's just how it is. Furthermore, I have never said that the App Store is unfair. I said that it has changed and that, as a company doing business in this market, you have to adept to these changes. I don't consider this unfair and we have no problem with the fact that the next GOF game will be a free app with in-app purchases. It's a fantastic game that has a ton to offer to its players. That's all that matters to us. Sorry, if I'm losing my patience here, but pretty much every assumption you made about our company and the environment we're doing business in is plain wrong. If I didn't know better, I'd say you were simply getting kicks out of trolling me. Stop it, please.
Wow did this thread take a turn for the worst... Most bashing the game, in this thread, DO NOT want to see Fishlabs fail. It's why we want to see changes. Also, most aren't upset about F2P. In 2016 F2P is what makes money. It's the combo of a watered down experience PLUS the F2P that is making everyone freak out. I appreciate that Toby is responding. I may not like all of his answers, but that's irrelevant. He's taken some pretty harsh responses and tried to patiently answer us. Not sure what more we could ask of him.
We're just letting this miserable shit show run its course while we wait for the game to get launched worldwide. Once that happens, we're rebooting the thread and anyone who wants to keep this weird irrelevant argument rolling can keep doing so when we move this thread to the general forum to serve as a trash bin for yelling at Fishlabs.
I am quite surprised.I never imagined Tobi would lash out so hard against me.I do know we were a little harsh with him over the last couple of pages but that isn't enough to justify his last comment. What hurts me most though is that he lashed out to me in particular.A person who has been following Fishlabs as a company for more than six year.A person who has purchased GOF2 on both android and ios to help support Fishlabs(cause I am pretty sure that millions of people didn't do that).A person who would also on occasion jump on facebook and twitter and see how Fishlabs as a company was progressing and keeps in touch with them.Being a loyal supporter for over 6 six years means nothing in our day and age I guess if you can take out your problems on that specific supporter. You know what Tobi-Even if I am really upset about GOF3 and said that this will be the end of your company,I never meant that.I wonder how you would feel if you saw something you have waited for over six years to be so far away from what you imagined, you almost can't believe it.When all your dreams of the great next thing get crushed under IAPs and missing features.I really want to know how upset you would be and not be at all vocal about it.Do I secretly hope we bring a positive change to the game before release-yes I do.Have hoped for that for a long time now. Despite you lashing out at me,I will try GOF3.I always knew I would because I WAITED SO LONG FOR IT and you know what-I will spend money on it just because of nostalgia, just because I will remember all the great fun that GOF 1 and 2 provided.I do hope however you don't continue to treat all of your loyal supporters as you have me now. Despite all of the hatred in the past couple of pages-I wish you guys a good day and hope that in the end GOF3 turns out to be a good game,no one would be happier than me to see that happen
That's the spirit and I'll drop out of the windmill fight, might keep watching the show from the sidelines though.
To be fair, we see this kind of stuff around here all the time. Arm chair experts telling actual developers how the App Store works. I'm not sure why you're trying to come off as some kind of victim here when you're either hopelessly naive about the realities of the App Store or purposefully obtuse to try to prove some weird point about how Fishlabs should be making the exact game you want to play instead.
Im not gonna pretend I read this entire thread, the last couple pages are hard enough to read. @FishLabs: Surely you understand releasing GoF3 as a totally different game would come with lots of push-back from the hardcore fans. I think you should not titled it GoF3 as if it's in line with the past 2 games. This alone is setting up the game for bad reviews from the ones that remember it. And the ones that don't remember wouldn't care of the name. So why not call it something different like Galaxy on Fire: Wingmen in Arms or GoF Space Shooter? I think you'd have much better luck.
Thread is devolving Guys - Honestly, the thread is devolving into back and forth and it's honestly nothing but repeated ad nauseam arguments. If the game is fun, people will play it. If not, they won't. Doesn't sound like they scratched any of my "itches" for the genre but I'll give it a shake. If I don't like it, I won't keep it and they won't make a penny off me.
Honestly I think this whole back and forth is now getting overstretched. The entire argument is getting tiring now. Dunhila and GuntherC, we have all gotten your point so let us stop stacking pages of repetitive opinions. I, myself downloaded the game GOF3 and tried it and after 20 minutes, I deleted it and would never download nor play it again even after it goes worldwide. My reason is not because it is riddled with iAP but because I never really feel comfortable with games that require internet to play as I have this deep conviction that the game is not mine but rented and would never invest a cent in a game which could be killed off tomorrow, irrespective of how long it exists. All free-to-play games that require internet to play are never installed on my iPad and I always forget they even exist. That said, I think this game would appeal to some and not appeal to some. Let us leave it at that and stop this tiring bickering going on on this thread. I wish Fishlab luck on their upcoming game and hope they find success because they have been great devs since the early days of the appstore (remember their rally game?) but in the end reality would always take its course. Let us wait for how that reality would play out for them. I just restarted GOF2 and still amazed at how polished and intense the game is even after so many years. I think some of you should give it a shot again instead of endlessly crying here over GOF 3: Manticore. One thing is certain, your whole opinion won't change anything. The Tobi guy has hinted on this since this thread was created.
Always interesting to observe the typical whiteknighting attitude that commonly resurfaces from a certain type of cookie-cutter users. Generalizing different arguments by calling others entitled and brats while acting like an entitled spoiled brat themselves is, I must say, hilarious. How predictable people can be is always such a fascinating study. Oh the beauty of human psychology. Please carry on
Galaxy on Fire 3 - Monetizing to the Core Tobi@Fishlabs, I had overlooked something and forgot to ask you this question: Would implementing the "ENABLE OFFLINE PLAY" In-App Purchase (IAP) combined with all the other In-App Purchases (premium currency, etc.) that the game offers result in a loss or gain in profits? From my observations of many F2P (Free-To-Play) games statistics, many general consumers will probably just pay for premium currency IAPs ranging from $0.99 ~ $4.99, and then will either spend more or just stop spending altogether, especially those who are NOT whales. The amount of whales in F2P games are usually around 1% ~ 5% while the other players that spend less/MUCH less are the 95% ~ 99% majority. I personally think that both whales and non-whales would buy the ENABLE OFFLINE PLAY IAP at the offered price of $4.99; I also think that even more of the non-whales would be interested in buying such a convenient IAP. If more people buy this IAP and STILL thoroughly enjoy this new state-of-the-art HD stunning new-age graphics installment in the GOF series---Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore as it evolves over the years, it could also be said that they might as well continue enjoying all of the new and exciting features you have planned AND still pay for the many other basic IAPs that comes with the game. I'd say that's profit on top of profit......you got one unique one-time $4.99 IAP that gives players a convenience beyond measure, hence an enticing IAP, AND you will have your plethora of main IAPs (premium currency and whatnot) that will continue to attract both casual players and whales, encouraging them to buy them to stay ahead and stay strong. Both fans and new players that play Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore could have the option to conveniently play ANYWHERE and ANYTIME; it could spell additional profit for Deep Silver FISHLABS, especially since this game is projected to attract thousands, if not, millions of new players....somewhere along the line, an unknown portion of these players will pay for this special IAP, which if implemented NOW, could be a great setup for making some extra money in the long term. It may be a single one-time IAP, but that one time still has merit and counts as a sale among the vast plethora of IAPs.
White Knight? Now I'm insulted I associate that term with the regressive left, feminists, etc. Enlighten me, what a "certain type of cookie-cutter users" is, and where I fit that mark? As usual, citation please. Citation please. Citation please. Well, everyone is entitled to have an opinion, so here you go, have a cut cookie
This thread is actually pretty hilarious. Dude just RAILS into Fishlabs constantly over many multiple posts and thousands of words for literally DAYS, Tobi finally says "Please stop!" and dude turns around and starts crying about how he's being lashed out against. Classic. Not to mention how you just pull all this random information out of your ass and state it as fact. I am impressed with your dedication and attention to detail in your post formatting but your pie in the sky armchair economics just flat out don't make sense, man
I tried to skim the thread for this info but I saw contradictory information and then the thread turned into complete stupidity and it was just killing too many brain cells for me to read any more. So, can anyone answer this question? Is this GOF3 or a GOF3 prequel/prelude type thing? Thank you.
Gold-Laced Armchair Haha, a boy can dream no matter if his chair has arms or not. Actually, the chair I'm sitting in right now has no arms, so I'd say it's armless chair economics...that means I'm typing in an upright position with my spine properly aligned with the ceiling. After typing, there is no relaxation, hands down! xD OK, I'll try to type something that doesn't make sense: Over 80% of new players are likely to purchase Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore's premium currency, be it $0.99 or $99.99. ^: Now THIS is armchair economics right down to the wood! As Tobi@Fishlabs would say: Hi Royce, thank you for your interest in Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore! Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore is a completely new game in the Galaxy on Fire universe, and there are some references to the previous games that you will encounter while playing!
