Crazy stuff: "Nintendo has not revealed any specs for the 3DS system, but expect it to well surpass the Nintendo DS in visual and processor capabilities. To provide stereoscopic 3D effects the system must have the ability to render each game field twice, one for each of the player's eyes, a technique that will require significant horsepower to produce. Several developers that have experienced 3DS in its current form have reported, off the record, that it has processing capabilities that far exceed the Nintendo Wii and bring the device with abilities that are close to HD consoles such as PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360." That would be really incredible............if that doesn't make the handheld crazy expensive. Just thinking of a The World Ends With You sequel with ultra HD sprites makes me all giddy. We only have to wait until E3 to find out what's the deal.
I doubt it. The first paragraph contradicts the second. If it takes double the processing power to render 3D, and it looks as good as current generation consoles, then that means that this handheld is DOUBLE the processing power of xbox360 and ps3. Which is bull.
Unless they mean the processing power needing to create two viewing fields is equal to the power needed to create one by the Xbox 360 and PS3, which is much more realistic.
Well no if you actually read it you'd see it says that "bring the device with abilities that are close to HD consoles such as PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360" Basically the article is being slightly opinionated as I don't feel that 3D is as good as HD, but doesn't this mean that it will have incredibly short battery life?
I just hope it's not too expensive. Price is one of the main reasons(not the only) why Ninty's handhelds always crush the competition. I'll buy it no matter the price if it has games I want, but the general consumer won't. I wonder if I'll ever get my portable Tales of Symphonia. I'm ready for my next handheld PSP2/3DS with actual buttons! I don't think I'll ever bother upgrading my 3rd gen.
U must be joking, they have made a jump from the awful dsi to a portable xbox 360 in a year, not likely!
Agreed! Considering what it cost to develop the 360 and PS3... highly unlikely that Nintendo would be spending that type of money on R&D for a portable device.... and how much would they have to sell it for a retail to get a return on investment? Blog hype and nothing more at this stage.
If this is true: cool It should have an inbuilt 3D camera too, so you can take amazing pics of yourself and manipulate them in ways which cannot be explained!
I'm not sure the screen resolution is gonna be high enough for HD... and while it says the device will have processing power similar to 360 and PS3, you then have to split that in half, one for each render of the game, so the graphics aren't gonna be quite so close. You know the DS is the biggest selling "console" in the world at the moment, right? If anyone's gonna fork out the cash to make an uber powerful portable device it'll be the company with the undeniable success story.
I don't believe it. It may need that much power to put out the 3D, but it will not look like a PS3 or 360 game. It might look as good as some of the new iPhone games though. (IE zombie infection, NOVA, etc.)
There have been reports that Nintendo spent insane amount on R&D over the last few years. Analysts assumed that this had anything to do with the "Wii 2", but is likely that all the development money went towards the DS. To me, it kinda makes sense. I mean, this is the sequel to the best selling system of all time (well, it'll be in a couple months), so Nintendo needs to create technology that will easily last for another 5-10 years.
