It's probably THE pinnacle of Mario, as an entire series. Imagine Super Mario Bros. 3 + Mario 64 + Galaxy. The game is SUPERB, my GOTY and that includes/beats others from my list: Dark Souls, Arkham City, Skyrim, BF3, Rage, Shadows of the Damned, etc. It's THE finest Mario experience I've had, in over 2 decades. SM3DL is the perfect hybrid combining nearly every element that has remained enduring since the series began, playing to the epic heights of the finer titles, even surpassing them. Portable or not, the game is exemplary.
That's not bad, mine is shipping to California too, but I live in Texas. Also I shipped mine via UPS, since that's what Nintendo provided. Either way I probably won't get it until the beginning of January, which seems so far away....I was playing TWEWY again.. Edit: I also noticed my hinge was kinda loose...I wonder if Nintendo will address that even though that's not what I sent it back for...
Pilotwings, Steel Diver, and Nintencats/dogs are $5 each at Best Buy right now. Not sure how long the deals last. Definitely grabbing Pilotwings though. Pretty much the only title I want, but don't have. Will also be grabbing Mario Kart 3D if I get a chance to go to GameStop today as well.
I didn't get PilotWings, I wasn't liking what the reviews were saying. Even if it was only five bucks. I did end up getting Mario Kart 7, LOZ: Ocarina of Time, and Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked. So far my 3DS collection is the following: Super Street Fighter IV Super Mario 3D Land Madden NFL Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked LOZ: Ocarina of Time Mario Kart 7 I have all the 3DS games I want and I don't see anything else on the horizon other than Tales of the Abyss. Edit: Take out LOZ and replace that with Star Fox. I have already beaten LOZ OT several times and I can't say the same for star fox.
Pilotwings was out of stock everywhere, lol. Couldn't get the two copies. Tried out Sonic Generations 3D on my brother's 3DS. A Sonic game has never looked so good, but the gameplay is more or less the same as in every other Sonic game save a few new additions. Mario Kart 3D should be great. I'm looking forward to quite a few titles in 2012 though. About time the RPGs start rolling in. Yeah, I was watching some trailers on youtube and there is quite a few 3DS titles coming that I had forgotten about. So yeah...kinda went a bit overboard and I ended up getting LOZ OT anyways and Cave Story 3D, too. Got SM3DL, Star Fox, and MK7 for Christmas! All spectacular games. The 3D is just incredible. Nintendo sure does know how to put out quality games it's too bad there arent many 3rd party games of this caliber for the system
Are there any? Lol. I've always been a fan of Nintendo solely because of how great their first-party products are. Trend definitely continues with the 3DS.
The DS had plenty of great 3rd party titles, I'm sure the 3DS will have it's fair share as well. SSFIV is a quality 3rd party title and so is Nano Assault. I can only speak of those two from experience, but more 3rd party games are on their way in 2012.(some I even forgot about)
yeah, give the system a chance. Year One is a often a rough battle for any system at the outset. I'm sure by next Xmas there'll be more than a handful of decent software to pick through..
Just realized that after over 7 months, I haven't finished a single one of my 3DS games yet. Trying to finish LEGO Pirates right now since it's a relatively short game. Only DS game I've finished on it is Pokemon Black, lol.. Need to work on that.
Update on the repair on my dead pixel, loose hinge 3DS. Nintendo decided to just send me a new system I should get it on Thursday according to UPS.
Look at the PS Vita launch lineup. Now compare it to the 3DS launch lineup. Notice anything? For Reference, I do own a 3DS and love it, but there really is very little software.
Funny, as I don't own a PS3... I don't care for he Vita lineup. May be some great games, but they seem to have made their big 1st party brands this gen, so they've passed me by. I do want to give LPB a shot though. And 3rd party 3DS... My three favs are Ghost Recon (but you may as well get that when it hits iOS), Devil Survivor Overclocked, and Ace Combat. AC is a fantastic remake of AC2, which I still own and play. DSO is an enhanced port, but honestly I wouldn't go back to the non-voiced version that lacks the epilogue chapters, some demons, and the MUCH needed compendium.
