That's a big blow but they're offering incentives for early buyers:

I'm really not too bothered about the price drop because it's 20 free games basically. I'm happy.

Hmm... Those are some excellent games but I wonder if that'll be enough to placate the majority of 3DS owners that could have spent that cash on 2 more retail titles. I don't know why they would restrict some of their best GBA titles to the "ambassador program" (LOL) when I know I'd be willing to drop $10 on MKSC or Metriod Zero if I didn't already own them. If they ever get Punch Out!! converted to 3D on 3DS and do a full color re-release of Mario Clash or Teleroboxer I'll certainly think about buying one. The Virtual Boy for all it's faults had some awesome games that really deserve to see the light of day again.

I'm not sure if I should buy now or buy later. I do have some of those exclusives in cart form and some of the others I don't care about, so I suppose I should just wait until the end of the year and buy at the lower price, and be a tad annoyed that I won't be able to buy the ones I would want. Oh well. End of the year as I'd be getting this for my kids for Xmas. Still, I have to be happy that they came to their senses and substantially dropped the price.

    Surprised at the price drop.

Its pretty cheap now, still won't get it though.

The price was never an issue with me, it was the games.

Even a fifth gen iPod Touch would come first and I hardly touch my 4th gen anymore.

Will more than likely get a Vita at launch, at least that has a couple of games I wanna play. Which is more than I can say for the 3DS.

I still hate seeing Nintendo go through "hard" times though.

I will always have a soft spot for them, whether I like their games/hardware or not.

Same here...my first reaction when I heard the news was, "Ooh, that's a much better price. I should buy one now!", followed seconds later by "...but there still aren't any games I absolutely need to have." I appreciate they wanted to give third party devs a chance to shine, but that didn't really happen, and now it's probably going to be Christmas until they have any must-have games on there (with all apologies to Star Fox). Even then, the price point is much more attractive, but I don't know if it makes it more attractive than a Vita or a 3G-enabled iPod Touch...

See, I think that's the problem. Everyone under the age of 35 grew up with Nintendo in their lives and for some reason that puts them above reproach. Nobody is bothered by the fact that the early Game Boy Wars, Mother 3, most of the Fire Emblem series, the Starfy series, Giftpia and Captain Rainbow never made their way out of Japan. When they release a bad game with a broken combat system like Mario Kart Wii it still receives decent reviews and sells simply because it's Mario Kart. The fact that they still haven't managed to get online gaming right on their consoles and they treat it like it's not important is simply ignored. When they make a mistake like not using upgradable firmware (not excusable considering the PSP came out the same year) they just release a new piece of soon to be outdated hardware and expect their fanbase to pay for the privilege. This is a company that hired Studio IG to do hand drawn graphics for a Wario game and an orchestra to travel around and play Zelda songs but shoved a 1993 game ROM onto a disc and sold it for $30 for the 25th anniversary of their biggest franchise.

What's wrong with taking a little joy in seeing Nintendo stumble for once?

I don't think I'd take joy in Sony, MS, or Apple stumbling either though.

I agree some buy or support Nintendo because of their childhood memories and I also agree with the fact that some of the decisions they make are beyond stupid, however I don't wish them harm.

I just don't give them any of my money.

I wish them the best with whatever it is that they're trying to achieve, but it has been awhile since I've given them my money, I don't blindly buy their games or hardware.

Same goes for any other company.

To be clear I don't wish them any harm I just don't wish them blind success ether. Sega's brightest moment was the Dreamcast and that only came after years of bad decisions backed them into a corner. When people ignore Nintendo's bad decisions and keep buying into them they're only insuring the company will keep making them. Maybe the above rant was a little harsh I just really wish they'd get it together and finally start producing games I'm interested in again. I wish they'd release their back catalog of Japan only titles on VC and produce masterpiece editions of their NES and SNES classics. I wish they'd stop shoving motion controls into 2D platformers like NSMB Wii or DKCR and release the old Zapper games on VC too, yet none of this is ever going to happen.

Tales of Symphonia 3DS and count me in, I don't care if that's the only game I ever buy for the 3DS.

Is it just me, or is Dead or Alive Dimensions 3D really boring? I thought it was really good when I tried it out at the store, but after an hour at home, it just feels so dull. Should I exchange it for a new copy of SSF4 instead? I think I'm allowed to return new games for the full price at Gamestop within 7 days. SSF4 is a lot more fun right? Even though I have SF4 and Volt on the iOS, is it still worth getting? Because if it's not, I'd rather just have the cash back, lol. Besides Ocarina of Time and LEGO Pirates, which I have, I'm not even half interested in any of the other games available for the 3DS so far besides SSF4. Thanks.

You cannot get a full refund on an opened new game. The 3DS will die a slow death without legitimate third-party support. There seems to be no signs of serious, dedicated third-party support on the horizon. A smattering a titles here and there is all we are going to get. It's not good enough. Just look at the amount of third-party support the PS-Vita has gained. Nintendo will get crushed. They can't live almost solely on first-party support anymore. It's the dawning of a new age and their model is a relic of the past.

Ah, looks like Gamestop's exchange/return policy has changed through the years, lol. Well, I've never actually tried to return something before, but I thought I remembered that it used to be a lot more lenient. People probably took advantage of it. In any case, I could only trade in DoAD for $14, and the guy at Gamestop insisted that I give it more time so I just dropped another $40 on SSF4 instead. Weee. Should be fun though. Hope DoAD gets better as well.

That would be incredibly amazing! I wonder if it would be an all new Super Smash or if it would be a port of one of the existing ones?
