I wouldn't recommend it unless you want the ability to play Game Boy Advance games. Within a couple years, the 3DS will likely be dominating the DS gaming market; the older DS's will just phase out. Has anyone bought Link's Awakening? If so, can they post their impressions on it?
I bought it even though I never played it when it originally came out. But it's definitely Zelda. I just beat the second dungeon and so far I'm having fun with it. As long as you don't mind the retro-ness of it (and how annoying it is that you have to push A, B, Start, and Select at the SAME TIME to save your game), it should probably supplement anyone waiting for Ocarina of Time 3D and be a great game in it's own right. At $6 I'd say get it.
Wait, Link's Awakening is free? Oh my goodness, nostalgia. Didn't see that it was free when I browsed the store earlier.
I love retro graphics and music, but UGH! Clunky retro controls. I can still remember having to save between box changes on Pokemon games. I don't have any points on the eShop yet, but I think I'll be getting LA once I get some. On a side note, those who got the Pokedex can go here to scan more Pokemon in: http://serebii.net/pokedex3d/pokemon.shtml Link's Awakening is $6, it isn't free.
Considering that it's the best title currently available it's definitely worth it. And also, there's little cool thing Ninty threw into the VC games: Hold Start or Select when booting the game and it'll play in it's original resolution, complete with Game Boy/Game Boy Color border. It's pretty neat. And I never get tired of Zelda music. It's just that good.
Pretty cool! I hope Nintendo really goes all out with the Virtual Console. They've opened up the doors for NES, GB, and GBC games already.
It should be available everywhere. When did you last check? It came out some hours after the eShop opened; if you got the update asap it just wouldn't have been available for you because it wasn't out yet.
I thought at the press conference they said that Links Awakening would be free? What happened? Well, I don't have a 3DS yet, so it doesn't matter, but it was something that would have been a plus for whenever I do end up getting a 3DS (basically, waiting for a price cut or some other good deal, like a good game bundle).
Zelda Four Swords is going to be free. Could that have led to some confusion with Link's Awakening? (just throwing out my only guess here)
has anyone from Canada been able to find the Nintendo 3DS Prepaid Card to buy games off the eShop?? Can't find them anywhere
I saw somewhere you can only get it in the US because a word later in the game that is said by a boss which is "spastic" is consdered slang for making fun of cripples in european countries and they don't want to offend anyone..
Just beat the main storyline to Pokemon Black, heheh. Goodness, it's been a long time since I was addicted to Crystal version on the Gameboy Color. Feels good. First game completed on my 3DS xD. Heh, well there's still a lot left to the the game so here I go! Caught Reshiram with one first ultra ball by the way :].
Hate to break it to you, but reshiram/zekrom have really low catch rates. I caught zeky with a heal ball half health.
Heheh xP. I don't know anything about the new generation Pokemon, it's alright. I heard there's plenty more legendary Pokemons in the remaining three cities though.
