Been playing with the installed software for an hour now. So far I'm really impressed, I'll load up my mii here in a min. Getting ready to play some street fighter... So far very happy! Thanks batouttahell!
If you have a 3Ds and even remotely like soccer games get Pro evolution soccer by konami It utilizes the 3d better than any other game I've played yet, simply brilliant!
Did anyone get Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars? I'm pleasantly surprised by the impressions and reviews I've read about it.
It may very well be my next 3DS purchase. Sadly, I'm not really enjoying Samurai Warriors all that much -- there's tons of potential there (the dynamic mission structure is quite good, with objectives changing as you make your way through a battle), but the combat is remarkably flat. Ghost Recon looks pretty great, just about the perfect game for the system.
Even though I really enjoyed Street Fighter and Ridge Racer my eyes and head really hurt after each play. I ended up selling mine to a friend and bought another first gen iPad.
well, that was fast. What was it, just a single day? Your eyes must have really hurt something awful... EDIT: Also, any word on Steel Diver? That game actually sounds sorta cool..!
I agree, it looks fun, but it apparently only has 7 missions, plus some time trials and stuff. Pretty ridiculous after all the flak Nintendo was firing at the app store. I'm going with Pilotwings and Samurai Warriors.
I'm playing it right now! There's a surprising amount of content for a launch game. And i agree, the 3D is fantastic in the game, I think it's the first ever football game where one of the best moments is a goal kick, seeing the pitch stretch out for miles is an amazing moment.
What hyperbole? Your point is silly, of course it matters that the 3DS is easily available. When has there ever not been a mad rush in recent years to buy the newest Nintendo product?
Well looking in the direction manual there is a TON of different passes and fakes, so to master this game is gonna take sometime. The 2 greatest things with this game is the analog joystick, it works beautifully and the 3D, so far for most games the 3D is just an effect, but the way the camera pans around your player it actually helps when shooting on the net as you can actually see the line of you shot. The 3D is WAY more than a gimmick in this game and actually makes the game 1000x more immersive.
Check out a new Resident Evil Mercenaries trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCGdfmmpCDk&feature=player_embedded Visually, it looks pretty incredible. Capcom sure knows how to show the capabilities of the machine. Game comes out in June. And in other news, the 3DS had the biggest first-day sales of any handheld in Nintendo's history: http://ds.ign.com/articles/115/1158204p1.html I am for one absolutely shocked. heh
They know how to make good player moddels and animations, but the outdoor enviroment really doesen't look verry impressive...
U.S. day-one sales numbers for Nintendo 3DS were the highest of any Nintendo hand-held system in our history. More details about U.S. sales numbers will be made public on April 14, when first-week U.S. sales figures will be tallied by the independent NPD Group. Nintendo worked hard to get as much product as possible to retailers on day one to meet demand, and we will continue with these efforts moving forward. -Nintendo of America http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/29/nintendo-claims-best-first-day-us-handheld-sales-ever-for-3ds/
It looks better than Resident Evil 4 on a tiny screen. Most definitely impressive if you ask me. Not as good as the iPhone Resident Evil's, but still.
I feel a movie coming on... Dr. Hodapp or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the 3DS* (* Yes, I just called the 3DS "Da Bomb" )
As I recall, the Wii was not expected to be a big deal. The Xbox 360 and PS3 were expected to be where it was at. The fervor you're referring to ended up being rather organic. As in, suddenly everyone wanted a machine and there were none to be had. From a marketing perspective, it was a good way to generate buzz. From an overall business perspective, it was a disastrous launch. Nintendo left a lot of money on the table that they could have captured. The fact that Wiis weren't widely available for over a year and a half after launch was also not good. For the 3DS, Nintendo did a better job in ensuring the launch went smoothly. There was more than enough units on hand to satisfy demand (2 million was the number I heard), the price was higher to balance out the supply vs. demand curve, and Nintendo launched off-season to reduce the craze of "I must get one before Christmas!" I know we're all used to long lines and rushes to the stores to get Apple's latest stuff. But that's not how most companies want their product launches to be. And Nintendo ensured that it wasn't.
I'm not sure how the iPhone's screen can be considered tiny, being half an inch bigger with 6.4 times as many pixels as the 3DS. And Capcom could make a good Resident Evil game for iOS if they actually made some effort.
3DS = 3.53"(the 3D screen), and 3.02" (the touchscreen). Half of your iPhone screen is covered by thumbs too, which isnt the case on the 3DS. I also think 3DS games look much better than iOS. The OS doesn't really use any resources, which means there's much more power left for the game. The games are better anyway, since this is a real console.
