Wow, free flight mode in Pilotwings is driving me crazy! As well as just taking in the sights, there are 75 locations to find, 120 balloons, 60 stunt rings, 60 Mii trophies and 60 gold rings all scattered around the islands. So far I've managed to get everything except ONE Mii trophy and ONE gold ring! I've combed all the islands many times over but I just can find them. And then there's the slight matter of getting perfect on all the missions, the later ones which I can see being an absolute nightmare.

This game may only have the one map but damn, it certainly makes you work to ace it!

Picked up my black system today along with Ghost Recon. Also bought Street Fighter and Ridge race taking advantage of the ToysRUs 3DS sale.

I am renting Pilot Wings and Steel Diver but won't have them until Monday.

All the overwhelmingly positive impressions are making me want to go out and buy one right now. I told myself I'll wait at least until Dead or Alive Dimensions. :D

lol@listing crappy Wii games and moaning about reviewers admitting they're crappy Wii games. Excite Truck? It might possibly be considered passable if you hadn't played another racing game in ten years. Sounds to me like the reason you don't trust these websites is because you have some awkward, skewed vision of what makes a great game. If you're in the minority don't go accusing the majority of being wrong.

Don't care about perfection, don't care about leaderboards, don't care about the replayability of a SP game. That's just me though. I bought Samurai Warriors, Ridge Racer 3D, and Lego Star Wars III because I honestly believe that these games will contain the most single-playthrough content out of all of the launch day titles. There is a lot of replayability in games like Pilot Wings Resort, Steel Driver, and Super Monkey Ball 3D, even though they are short games. And yet, I do not care. And I will not buy them.

I've never played Excite Truck, but I loved ExciteBots: Trick Racing. That's probably the most fun racing game I've played, or at least very high up on the list. I've been thinking of checking out Excite Truck because of it, but haven't yet. I think the reviews of ExciteBots were quite a bit better then that, though.

Is anyone having issues with theirs? I've read people having problems like loose hinges, scratches on top and bottom screen, black screen etc.. in various forums and I haven't even gotten mine...:(

Played with my bros tonight and gotta say I'm hooked! Trading in my old ds and wii to get one probably. Pilot wings is amazing! As for the technical issues I would like to hear more on that...

wow this thing is bombing (imo). I went to Gamestop to see how many they had and barely anyone is picking them up and I live in a highly populated town... Reason why no one I know, including myself is picking a 3DS up is because the launch line-up of games BLOW! I'll wait till MGS to pick one up. Other than that, massive failure on Nintendo's part to get a good launch line-up.

Tempted, but physical game media just feels clunky these days. I think the AppStore has infected the video game area of my brain, cause I honestly don't even play consoles anymore, except for the very occasional must haves.

Edit: whether I like it or not though, I can't very well pass up a Zelda game, albeit a remake. Zelda and MGS, probably will wait till the holidays for the inevitable sales and promotions though, assuming those games will be out by then.

Good god this system is amazing. Am I biased? Oh hell yeah. But from an objective standpoint this system is still damn impressive. If you're on the fence about it, I would wait until it gets some games on it that you truly want (and you're not picking up just for the 3D experience or whatevs).

I personally am completely happy with the purchase so far. Played for roughly 10 hours today, with the 3D at max, without a problem (except for Monkey Ball... for some reason that game is kind of burning my eyes out of my skull).

I could go on and on and on and on and on about how much I'm loving this system and how amazing it is, but I will save that for another time. For now, I will sleep peacefully knowing that this is shaping up to be an awesome handheld, and what appears to be the start of an amazing new generation for handheld gaming.

    :D

Oh and here's a picture of my puppy, Ammy, from Nintendogs + Cats.

She's on the living room table. I don't know why I am putting this here but I thought someone would appreciate it :D

And with that, I am outie.

What positive impressions?! Quite funny when a systems positive impressions will come from a lounge thread in a non 3ds forum.

What a strange launch. Spent a considerable amount of time yesterday at a GameStop playing around with the various launch titles and none were really compelling enough to want to drop $250+$40 on. I know launch titles are usually kind of lame but after trying the few I was interested in it just seemed so odd that the closest thing there is to a "killer must-have system seller" is ****ing Street Fighter. And that's only because it looks the coolest, as everyone know what 2D Street Fighter looks like, so the "benefits" of 3D are readily apparent.

Doing some errands this morning I was swinging by electronics departments and both Wal-Mart and Target have over a dozen units in stock along with a full array of games. This is... so strange for a Nintendo launch. I've been in line at the midnight launch for every Nintendo system since I've been old enough to attend a midnight launch (so everything post-NES) and HOLY SHIT I'd buy a 3DS if I felt like I had even the slightest reason to... But there just isn't one.

This feels like this weird soft launch, with the "real" launch not coming until potentially the holiday season or whenever they actually get around to releasing a heavy array of first party must-have system seller titles.

I agree totally that it was a very odd release. Though I did pick mine up I was puzzled at the releases that they had delayed or the new ones they just threw in there. Bubble Bobble 3D??? Like we need that? Even Rabbids got delayed until the 10th. Zelda and Paper Mario weeks behind that - and all were at one time release titles. I was thinking about this hodgepodge of release titles and thought perhaps they took the "must have" titles and pushed them back to help the sales of the lesser knowns.

I mean if you get this cool system you at least want a title or two to actually use it on - so boost some sales for the other titles (since they are the only ones out at the moment) and the ones they know will be a hit will come along later.

I know some people that are holding off buying one until Zelda and Paper Mario get released so clearly their marketing strategy (if they have one - it is pure speculation on my part) is failing as it is just delaying the purchase for lots of people.

Well the release is so strange due to the fact it was launched early spring. Not too many consoles will get the huge lines like you do around Christmas time. But yea me and my brother went to gamestop at like 11:45pm and were the only ones in line?! I thought there would at least be a few more people... As for the launch lineup, I'm most impressed with street fighter, an pilot wings, I didn't get to try the soccer game but I heard it's really awesome if you like soccer (footie)... I like the system and will probably be getting a black one this weds or thursday, but I too will mainly be waiting on the A+ titles with just a game or two to hold me over until Zelda... I will say though while it's very cool, the 3D doesn't really change the whole experience it just kinda enhances it. And for a lot of people getting one doesn't seem to be enough incentive, especially if they just got a dsi like my wife did. Me I'm trading up my old ds lite and a broken wii with a ton of games to help justify my purchase...

Is it a good idea to upgrade to the 3DS if I want to play regular DS games? I've heard mixed opinions on the backwards compatibility. My DS is a little over six years old, and it's busted in many places. There are parts of my touchscreen that simply won't work. I'm also interested in playing DSiWare and Virtual Console games, and I don't mind having to wait until May in order to do so.

I've already toyed with the system at BB, and I was impressed with the 3D effect. It's going to be really hard to want to go see a 3D movie when I have to wear those glasses.
