Nintendo did nothing special with it, just a quick project that reuses basically all the assets seen in a mode that came with Wii Sports Resort. ------------------- Behold, here are the Devil Survivor 2 images: Portable RPG of the year right here.
Yeah, that's what a lot of people thought. Then Kotaku started posting impressions and they all went and preordered it again.
I'm in a dilema ive ordered Star Wars for the 3ds launch but i want another game, what should i get? i admit the launch line up is pretty basic, im really waiting for Zelda and the Resi Evils but what to get in the meantime? Street Fighter? Pilotwings?(this looked fun but basic?) Thanks
It seems a lot of people are going for Street Fighter, but I'm so over that game now. I've already played it on two different consoles and being in 3D isn't going to make it seem any fresher. I'd go for Pilotwings, the later challenges get pretty difficult (you'll know what I mean if you've played the others) and there are a bunch of hidden vehicles to unlock. It looked like a quick cash-in because it used the Wii Sports Resort island but it's actually been quite lovingly worked on.
I've seen a lot of the youtube videos and they all say the 3d aspect of it isnt quite perfect, have you tried it and whats your view? and i know what you mean about street fighter ive had the 4th, super and also have on my iphone lol, but its the 1st 3d with online capabilities
Go for Street Fighter, specially if you haven't played the console versions or would love to have an excellent fighter in your pocket. It's packed with tons of content, it looks great, it plays well, it has online. Basically the full package.
No I haven't tried it, but to be honest I'm not really that excited about the 3D on any game. The sweet spot is so small and the slightest movement can ruin it, I think a lot of gamers will resort to switching it off and just enjoying the game. So all of my opinions are just based on the games alone
Haha nope im totally into the 3d, i had no trouble with the sweet spot coming and going i thought it was great, so i'll go with Street Fighter and hope theres a pilotwings demo on the store-or rent it off Lovefilm lol Thanks guys
I'm with you on that. I feel like I've played about 800 too many different versions of Street Fighter now and there's really very little that can get me interested in the series again. What's killing me with this launch is that while there are a bunch of launch titles, I feel like I've played them all before and adding 3D on top isn't exactly compelling me to go out and spend $250+. I mean, I would for Ocarina of Time, but that's not coming for a while yet. Heck, the only totally new IP with this launch is the submarine game, which doesn't even look that cool. I guess I'd like to play Pilotwings, but I have a feeling everyone is going to be buying that... Meaning, when I eventually do buy a 3DS to play Zelda, I'll also be able to pick up Pilotwings used for like $5.
Bite your tongue. The Game Boy Advance had an incredible launch lineup, with Super Mario Advance, Castlevania: Circle of the Moon, Rayman Advance, and Iridion 3D. Maybe not the most plentiful lineup, but beavers be damned it was an amazing one <3
All of the hands-on impressions I've read and seen of Steel Diver is that it's actually a lot of fun, and that the people reviewing it were surprised at this after seeing the rather unassuming footage. It's apparently one of those things that you have to play to really understand, because it's all about the tension of having to manipulate a bunch of controls with great precision under pressure. It actually looks pretty fun, but it's also apparently appallingly short. I think I heard that there are only seven missions in the campaign, or something to that effect. Maybe it's seven for each of the three submarines, I'm not sure. Either way, not quite enough content to justify dropping $40 on it, if it's not going to completely rock my world; I'll pick it up later on the cheap. Pilotwings though... I'm frothing for that one.
I have not played any modern-day iteration of Street Fighter, as I am not a fan of that genre. However, I was curious enough to try it a bit for the PC, which is basically the same as the console version, if you have a 360 controller hooked up to your computer. There is no tutorial. Any guide you find online is noob unfriendly and will confuse the hell out of you. If you are not a religious follower of this franchise, you will stand none chance of actually playing the game. You might not even be able to figure out how to perform most of the moves. Beyond the basic ones anyway. Then again, the controls are probably simplified and streamlined to a degree with the 3DS. The lineup is yuck. I'd probably go Ridge Racer and Samuria Warriors, and it ain't exactly cause I love those franchises. It's easy to insert either of those titles into any launch lineup for any gaming platform, because they have both become so stale. It's basically a cut-and-paste job. However, I have heard that both of these games utilize the 3-D well, and that's really what I'm interested in anyway. I'm interesting in the 3-D as a gimmick until the overall quality of games improve. Then I'll likely find myself caring less about the 3-D. And Pilot Wings Resort contains roughly two hours of content, the same as a typical higher-end idevice game. Only it costs 39.99, instead of 6.99 or 4.99.
I'll be getting Street Fighter, as I haven't played that much of the series and critics are saying the 3DS version is very noob-friendly. It also comes in a cool holographic slip over the case. $40 worth right there. I'm also considering getting another launch title, which is between Pilotwings and Nintendogs. Pilotwings looks the most impressive, but the amount of content might be an issue. On the other hand, I loved the original Nintendogs (and regret trading it in to this day), but I'm afraid it'll be a little TOO much like the original or it won't hold my interest for as long. Decisions, decisions.
Two hours of content if you go for only barebones, bronze medal completion. It'll take many times that to perfect your runs and get full completion, plus I understand there's quite a lot of reason to play the free-fly mode, all sorts of collectibles and easter eggs to find. Even then, you're probably only looking at 8-10 hours of real playtime, but if it's a high-quality experience, as everything indicates this will be, I have no problem spending that kind of money on it. Case in point: I've bought every Ace Attorney game on the DS, as well as Ghost Trick, at launch. Length isn't everything, it's about the experience. (and yes, that is, in fact, what she said)
Here's hoping to better 3DS titles soon... http://www.gamingunion.net/news/sony-dominating-japanese-software-sales-despite-3ds-launch--4379.html
To be honest, I'm a little bit confused. I watched the 3DS keynotes in the last months, where Iwata and Fils-Aimé repeated again and again that "content is king", which would be the main difference between cheap smartphone titles and more expensive handheld titles. Can anyone tell me then why Pilotwings Resort is so weak on content? I mean, there's only one location, and that's an exact copy of the island of Wii Sports Resort. And from what I read, the content of this game is extremely limited. Isn't that a perfect example for the fact that Nintendos structure and pricing model is outdated? I'm a huge Nintendo fan when it comes to games, to be honest. And we all know that Nintendo consoles and handhelds in reality are only boxes where we all can play Mario games with. Even Nintendo said that in the past. But in my opinion the 3DS is no must-have. I'll wait with a purchase, and maybe I'll buy one together with Mario Kart 3DS and Paper Mario 3DS. But I'm not sure, because I was doing fine spending my money in Apple products in the past. And Nintendos support for the very succesfull Wii (channels, online connectivity, social networks, etc.) was so terrible, that I'm not sure if I'll ever buy a Nintendo hardware product at launch again.
Nintendo 3DS has 3 cameras and can take pictures in 3D. The 2 cameras on the upper screen (facing backwards) are said to act like a pair of eyes and can therefore see things in 3D. Anyway, to the point Nintendo have said that the Nintendo 3DS will capture 3D Images and the output will be an MPO file. MPO (Multi-Picture object) files are images which contain multiple JPEG files and these are linked together to make a 3D Image. MPO files are the most common file type for 3D images therefore meaning that 3D images taken with your Nintendo 3DS will be able to be transferred to other devices which support 3D images such as your computer and the recently released 3D Televisions. The 3D images may also be compatible with 3D editing software! These can be transferred to your computer via the SD card which is used in the Nintendo 3DS and then you can pretty much do what you like with it!
