Just played my neighbors imported 3DS and after playing for about 3 hours I can safely say that I am not impressed at all. 3d without the glasses is a novelty and gets old quick, great if your under 12 yrs old like Omega F but to me its a meehhh!
Just out of curiosity, is that neighbor the same imaginary friend that plays the awesome multiplayer iOS games via bluetooth with you?
Just out of curiosity why do you spend your time in an IOS forum instead of a 3ds forum? Nobody listens to you here anyway, your awesome exciting news is met with total silence
You seem pretty interested son, so I'm keeping you and your imaginary neighbor updated with the latest and greatest of the successor to the DS
Is that the best you can do kid, your imaginary cameback is hilarious, I expect more from a 12 year old.
Oh the irony. Find something better to do friend. You are only embarrassing yourself with such quality posts. Go download the latest Gameloft game instead. Pretty good "cameback" (lol) huh?
Said the kid majority forum members called Omega Fail. I love IOS games and just like what gaming experts agree on I think this is the true future of handheld gaming and IOS will bring the 3ds to its death knees, that is why I am here, go find a good 3ds forum why don't cha instead of hanging out in the lounge.
Seriously guys if you want to argue, do it in private its getting annoying now, this thread is for discussing the 3DS
::sigh:: You know, it is possible for a gaming handheld (DS/PSP) and a jack-of-all-trades (iOS devices) to coexist, peacefully at that. We have microwaves and those didn't eradicate the oven. Blu-ray hasn't killed DVDs. iPods haven't eradicated CDs. I'm not taking up for traditional handheld gaming: it's just the truth. The PS2 didn't kill the Xbox; the 360 didn't kill the PS3. They coexist, offering different things to different people. If you've gotta have Gears of War you know where to go; gotta have God of War you know where to go; gotta have apps you know where to go. That's it. When my Evo, your iPhone, my iPod touch, and your Zune, etc. can play AAA titles w/a 4-5hr battery minimum for playtime, I won't digress: I'll be in line for whatever that "thing" is. But until then, iOS isn't killing off anything. It's delivering what its platform excels at; nothing more, nothing less. And I don't know if you're a gamer per se or not but fanboying for one system means you're potentially missing out on a sea of great games. This is why I have a DS, PSP, and an iPod touch. I get to experience and have tons of fun with Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, and Infinity Blade respectively. Lastly, what gaming "experts" are you referring to???
He's a clueless fellow. Don't even attempt to getting into a debate with him. Just look at his posts, sit back, and have a laugh.
I've been listening. Although, I've been called a "nobody" before, so I can see the confusion. Nintendo's market share is too great for iOS to bring it down within any small amount of time. The lack of tactile controls makes for a device that is limited as to the experience it can provide in certain genres of games. Granted, it's perfect for things like strategy games and accelerometer-based games, but a true FPS or TPS cannot be implemented very well.
I think many people would disagree with this. The PSP and DS both have bad controls for FPS/TPS games. For me, touch screen devices are much better for playing FPS/TPS games because swiping the screen (with high sensitivity) feels closer to using a computer mouse. Sure, the touchscreen isn't perfect, but I think it has the best controls of all the current portable gaming devices. The 3DS won't be any better than the PSP for FPS games, it still only has a single analogue stick and face buttons which I found to be a terrible way of controlling a FPS game with the PSP. The NGP might have decent FPS/TPS controls with the dual analogue sticks, but if they're anything like the single analogue stick on the PSP, then I'll still prefer touchscreen controls.
Different strokes, different folks. I've been in various gaming forums and have read comments from DS gamers who feel the stylus/touchscreen combo gives them a similar feeling of using a mouse. Given the real estate of the iPod touch's screen, swiping for me works pretty well but is still far from ideal (which doesn't matter b/c it's just a minor drawback of the platform and its size). As far as I'm concerned, I think the controls for all shooters on all current handhelds are inadequate; doesn't mean they can't be fun b/c I have fun w/them still. But I look at it like this: it's better than nothing at all. Shooters on the NGP/PSP2 should be a lot better b/c I think the setup on PSP was high inefficient (which I've never really understood seeing as how Sony crafted the Dual Shock controller; think they would've put that in their 1st handheld). But I think it'll be interesting to see how devs implement the genre on the 3DS. With the gyro and accelerometer, you may be able to tilt to line-up your shots (kinda how tilting the NGP controlled Drake during Sony's event last month) while using the analog circle pad for real 3D movement instead of the digital/two-dimensional d-pad. Who knows?
PSP/DS/3DS all have a single analogue stick and face buttons. Usually the analogue stick is for movement and the face buttons for aiming. There are only four buttons to aim with which makes FPS controls crap. Whereas touch screen devices behave more like dual analogue sticks or mouse aiming because you can place two thumbs on the screen and adjust the speed and direction of your movement and aim with a lot of accuracy, through 360 degrees. If you somehow prefer to use an analogue stick and face buttons, then that's fair enough. If you still don't understand what I've said, then you're an even bigger fool than I originally thought.
Funny, A lot of people feel that way about you Omega Fail. Experts like John Carmack, you know the grand father of FPS in case you don't know.
There's not even a point in debating. It's clear that we both have a way different definition of what the word "good" means. I find iOS FPS's to be absolutely atrocious, and no one on their right mind would even attempt to compare it in any possible way to a mouse.
