Thanks for spreading the word. I cant remember if i mentioned it, but i just bought a Unity plugin called InControl and am working to add it to BrightRidge. It should provide full Mfi supoort and since it's one of, if not the, most popular plugin for gamepad support in unity there is a good chance it will work with Gamevice - is heard both of them mentioned in the same breath in a few Google searches
Yes I do plan more stories for BrightRidge, but its mostly a question of resources. I have another story that was supposed to come out before Love and Tin, its called The Wedding is Off, and i used to post about it here a while back - its stars Grimlin, the Gnome character (options > shapechange > Gnome (the small character icon) - its kind of cool because you see the world from his perspective, and its why the gnome home was built just to the left of the road just up from BrightRidge inn. Anyways i would like to finish that and more, but first i am doing Vandgels, which is a new game, new world (well set in the same continent - see the map below). What it comes down to is right now i work on this after work part time, but sales have slowly been increasing. Nit enough to live on, but if i can do this full time eventually then there would be a lot more stories (and a few surprises Map showing Vandgels and BrightRidge location Photo of the Gnome Home (you can go inside it - just shrink your character Options > Settings > Shapechange > Size and choose 1 or 2
Nimian Legends : Vandgels is in full production. The world is 4 times the size of BrightRidge, and I hope you will enjoy the story Every Nimian game has a tower, and this one is a bit different. Angled, sharp and bristling wit energy, it's known as a Pirendra Tower, and according to the inhabitants it was the first tower to appear, a clear sign of the spiritual and technological superiority of the nation of Tiviscus. The Nation of Tiviscus is a deeply faithful society. Located to the west of BrightRidge, its current spiritual leader is Empra Aria - an ardent devotee of Imperial Doctrine.
The splashscreen for Nimian Legends : Vandgels, the sequel to Nimian Legends : BrightRidge. Marco Zannone was kind enough to create a custom version of Night Blues. I think it's a beautiful song and compliments the tone of Vandgels perfectly. Coming soon for IOS and Android. You can listen to and buy Marco's music here: https://www.pond5.com/artist/marcozannone#1/2064
I love that description. Breathtaking is probably a good way to describe the style im going for in this one. Im really happy with the story too and can't wait to release it
Yes, a new app set in the same continent - and with a few surprising (i hope) links to BrightRidge's story
That's a great question. And the answer is Yes - size wise the world is 4 times the size of BrightRidge
yeah, actually its kindof cool how that happened. At first i just staright up built the world at 4 times the size, and i was wondering if it would fit into memory, etc. Then you know how i added the size changing? Well when you change into the gnome, BrightRidge seems likes its 8 times as large relative to your size. so i was like "what if i just make Vandgels the same size as BrightRidge but shrink everything in it?" So i just shrunk everything by half EXCEPT the terrain itself - the trees, grass, people etc - and to my surprise it worked perfectly. So if you actually put them side by side they are the same size, but Vandgels ends up being 4 times as big by default. kind of clever solution i think and it really worked. You wont notice the difference because it looks the same One neat thing about making games is that a lot of teh restrictions are self imposed. Like when i started BrightRidge HD and i switched to realtime shadows and i stil had just the original one time of day. And then i was like what if i move the sun now that the lighting is realtime? And now we have sunsets and morning and everything in between. So it was like looking at the current tech and figuring out how to use it differently Baeduls roam the Grand Plateau in Vandgels. Im currently adding the new animals and some old ones, including herds for Reindeer and now a pack of wolves in the forests below. These will be Frost Baeduls, with icy blue shells. Ive also added Giants, Wild Skralls, the Reindeer, snowy owl - and i have room for one or two more - im just trying to decide what they will be. The new system lets me change all the animals in just two sittings so im happy that its working so well. I was able to transfer Vandgels terrain from my test project into the gae just by dropping it in. This wekend i will add in the new characters and shape changes. Then adding in the citadel of Vandgels itself, and then the story which is almost complete - im just finessing the details. One ting im looking forward to is the Grand Debate in the halls of Vandgels, where the High Council will convene to discuss a matter of utmost importance for the religion of the nation.
Its actually using less objects - i learned a lot howto huild interesting things but manage the textures etc better. For example in brightridge some parts of the in use like 5 kinds of wood, but you can get the same effect by more cleverly using two. the original game is ithink around 200-300mb and i expect this one to be similar Most of the size is in the landscape itself, so Vandgels is MUCH higher than BrightRidge's highest mountain. HardWood Ents roam by the sea
That is just incredible! Can't wait to see more! This really IS turning into the Elder Scrolls of iOS.
Abbess Yoy and her sect of Vandgellian Monks often watch the sunrise and sunset from the top of Vandgels. A dracozid can be seen flying in the distance in both images.
FYI, my new iPad PRO is likely to arrive before 24th August. So when the new beta version is ready, fire it up!
