Found the controls had to learn all the settings, but idea on the sticky setting option maybe have a reset switch at the start menu ..
You do have a reset but it's not for graphics so maybe if someone has a device that can't do the settings they choose and it crashes maybe have a reset option ..or a way for the game to detect a crash And auto reset?

Looking forward to the new stuffs I'm posting things on my twitter as well I got a video going up soon showing all the settings and some brief footage due to the limit of video time you can post ..
This game needs more people knowing it, this blows my mind at what can be done this world is huge! You can free roam like skyrim or Minecraft now if only I could have a place to have of my own XD i think this game is amazing it shows what can be done on iOS devices!

We can do advanced games we just need Devs that are patient and have determination like you do ..
Thank you for all that you have done!

Now I wish I knew about this before it went free I would of bought it ..
I support games that are premium offline with much content ..
This is worth the price maybe even more ! Gorgeous!

!! Cool:) Thank you! I read this to my neighbor as an example of something nice people said about the game and he was impressed:) Thanks for sharing the game - it's free for now so its he best time for other people to try it.

i LOVE skyrim. The Christmas it came out i was playing it after Christmas dinner, walking in the yellow-ish fields outside Whiterun and just blabbin to everyone "oh my god, look at this...". I can say my biggest inspirations are Skyrim, Shadow of the Colossus, and the Fable series (loved them).

And you know your verbal support and sharing means as much as a purchase. I mean, when it comes down to it, the money is just the means by which to make the game and improve it. No matter where this ends up, im happy that i put a miniature world into some peoples pockets for them to visit when they want. Im very exited about the people it can reach while it is free:)

BTW originally it was 4 times the size, years ago when i called it Nimian Hunter Salvation. But it was too much too handle, so i divided it up, and BrightRidge was the first area i released (originally called TombWood, but after exploring BrightRidge i realized it was too grim, and that this wilderness was a bright ridge - thus the name:). Ive been expanding it, and polishing it over the last 2 years, and getting the engine ready for a new world and adventure in a way that makes it easier for me to add content, and i am almost there. Love and Tin, the second adventure, was built in a month using my new "lego block" system, and i am working on 4 other locations, the next one being the religious towers of Vandgels.

Wow that's some influence, I love all three of those games! I'm downloading now but would be great if you could put some form of IAP in so I can at least give you something for such a piece of art as this is! :)

Thanks for the thought:) Its cool - i mean i am also getting exposure and feedback by making it free - not a lot of people know about BrightRidge, and this is a great way to reach people.

I also love the last guardian, and the music by Takeshi Furukawa. The game actually made me very emotional, and the bond between Trico and the boy was an inspiration for the adventure Love and Tin. Of course BrightRidge doesnt compare to any of these masterpieces, but they show me that games can be real places and have real heart, and that gives me something to aspire to.

BTW speaking of IAP, i have been toying LIGHTLY with the idea of maybe having a free main world, and then having new adventures for a dollar... but im not sure. I really like how Hearthstone does IAP - great value and great production. Of course im not blizzard:) So i don;t know if its just simpler, and more open, to just stay IAP free and have a new game for each new world (the second one is in development now). Anyways thank you for the support, and if you want to help, leaving a rating or a store review is alwys super helpful in getting the word out:)

    Seconding that ;)
Don't know if Apple still allows tip jars (i.e. sending the dev money without getting anything in return).
Monthly subscription would be great, but I have no idea what criteria you have to meet for Apple to okay that.
If you want, give me a few days and I can look into things.

I'd pay for in app worlds just as long as you kept all the content in this one game if it gets big in size so what there's games that are 2/3 gb in size (Bully GTA ) this game is amazing I'd love to support you!

yeah i just noticed this last week. The way the new quest system works it resets the player at every checkpoint, and i think this resets the first person view too. FPV was kind of an afterthought i admit, but i am seeing a lot of people use it, so i will fix it so that you dont exit it all the time automatically, and also try to give it some more polish because its more popular than i thought. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for trying the game:)

Thank you - im going to think about it and your comments help me delineate what might work and what woudlnt, although for now i think ill stick with no iap and the new world vandgels as a separate game (although i am building the project file so it will be possible to have a version that include all worlds in one game). File size should be ok because the game is actually quite small, and yeah i want to avoid 3gb games too:) BTW i played bully when it came out on ps2 (downloaded it for ios also and am amazd we can put it in our pocket now) - i think BrightRidge is more like Bully in a way - a smaller world than GTA, but more focused - at least that's how id like it to be:)

Thanks for your very quick response. Very much appreciate it.

I too am a big Skyrim fan and really enjoy having an alternative world to explore on my iPad.
You are a very talented game designer.

    More and longer quests please!!

Thank you:) There are a couple of bg updates coming, and a big ting i an trying is to port my procedural generated adventures from Nimian Legends Empires into BrightRidge. Version 6 might have broken the FPV, bit it also implements a new quest building system behind the scenes - making it faster for me to make a new adventure - for example, the first adventure took 4 months to make, and Love and Tin the second one took 4 weeks.

Skyrim was something special wasnt it? I bought the remaster too - those guysa re very good at making worlds that feel natural - thats something i love about Bethesda:)

    Hi everyone:)

Ive been getting crash feedback and all three have been on an iPhone 6plus with IOS 10.2.1

Im just putting this up here because i am trying to track down if its a specific issue.

If anyone has a crash can you please let me know what IOS version you;re using and what device? It helps me track things down.

A lot of people are also crash free and enjoying the game - the feedback has been really good ( 45,000 download yesterday) and im glad Ive made it free for a bit so people can share it:)

EDIT: its strting to look like an IOS 10.2 issue - here's a mention of it for hearthstone:
    https://us.battle.net/forums/en/hearthstone/topic/20753296082

And i am finding a lit of other examples. I hope this isn't the case because it will mean i have to wait for a fix from Unity and/or Apple...

It looks like the crashes for the most part are directly related to IOS 10.2. Here's my data:

It also looks like unless IOS fixes this the crashes will happen more. Im simultaneously looking into how to fix this from Unity (it says remove Metal support but thats what makes the game run), which means upgrading my software. I had already planned to do this on BrightRidge 8.0 so i will continue the plan

    v7
    Android
    Apple TV
    MiFi Controller support
    Bug fixes

    v8
    Upgrade Untiy Software
    New vegetation engine
    Fix IOS 10.2 bug

This is really a perfect example of how user feedback helps me track things down. i was the metion of ios 10.2 in several emails that led me in this direction.

If you make new worlds, it will be separate apps, but if you make one big app & say someone wants that big app with all worlds but already has all the others what then?

Yes I love first person view !
But it bounces me out just as the others said it's a tad more finicky to deal with then other modes..
    Maybe a auto follow cam?

Yeah, i thought about that many times.

My plan is to build all the world in one project, code wise, but seperate apps for each world. This is so that if i improve the Artificial Intelligence in BrightRidge, it will also improve in Vandgels. Ive planned a lot so that I can produce multiple worlds easily since i'm one person. In fact, at least half the development time over the last year or so has been just in fixing the project structure and code so i can do this.

So in the end i will have one project that i could also have a 'gold' version or something with some added benefits, and a lower price. So maybe you buy all 5 for 3$ each, or get all 5 in one "NimianLegend World" game.

BUT... yes it would have to have some great benefit to it if you already bought all the other apps. Maybe it would have new features, or maybe its more beautiful, or just to support my develipment (each gold world app helps me develop games or something). Anyways im not married to the idea, but have just considered it because i think some people would like it all in one and they will already be inside one project.

Yeah, i have made a not to improve first person view - i dont now so many people used it:) BTW thord person view is definitely getting that fix so you can look up and down by default.

What do you mean by an auto follow cam? Would that be for first person somehow or in third person?

One thing i want to rework is the flying cam, because right now the direction you tilt the camera is teh direction the animal flies in. This doesnt feel as intuitive as it could, and id like a true follow cam there - so you tilt the animal up and down, and the camera follows and has no influence on the animal direction.

    80,000+ download in 2 days

Thank you TouchArcade and TouchArcadians because you had a huge effect here. Just making a game free doesn't always get these kinds of downloads, and i think this is great exposure.

I also hit #33 on Free Rpgs which is my highest ever.

I know when i go back up (im thinking i will go to 1$ next week to ease people in, then back to 2$ after that) sales wont be like this, but i think there might be some momentum and i appreciate all of this.

I have to say one really unquantifiable thing ive gained from all this is game ditribution experience. I am learning first hand what people hate, like, expect. When i started game design i just wanted to fly across a world as a dragon:) Now years later i have learned a lot of the other things that come along with sharing a game, and i think this helps me get better, faster and healthier making them.

    :)

It's interesting i was on TouchArcade discord chat today ( :) ) and saw Vast - an open world survival game. I checked it out and at the start they have this "tip jar" tging - it says if you want to support us and you can donate like 14, 64 100$ etc. Kind of neat.

I think my biggest barrier to this, and patreon, is time.

A few years ago this big corporation asked me for some art and i said no, and they were like "please" and i was like "sorry i cant" and they were like "please please...". So i was like "OK", but with reservations. Anyways right after they said "remember to where a suit to the meeting". I like suits. I think people in suits look very handsome:) But its not for me because i spend all my energy on creating the art. if i spent energy on how i look that would take energy from the art. I explained that and said it would be like if i expected them to show up at the meeting each bringing a painting. Now, its not that nusiness is better than art or vice versa, but just that i throw every drop into the world, and work a day job, so finding time to market the game is nera impossible without spreading myself too thin - whicn i think i am almost doing now.

All that to say im looking at these options - but everything is one at a time. I actually am thinking of trying to find a marketer who loves games and would just take a slice of the profits - so the more we sell the more we both make.

I just tried this game when I saw you mentioned it's name but with my iPad I don't pay into online locked game so I won't support ..

Now your game, your game is playable offline so I'd support, I'd tip or buy a in app ..
Your game is gorgeous, your graphics choices are outstanding !
The world is large, lots to see and do love the under water shader neat effect when swimming #

Also your determined to fix issues & are adding more to the game ..

If you ever have the idea to make multiplayer...
    PLEASE make it optional!

I love thus game offline I can play it when not near or on wifi and that's a great feature !

@Robert: 80k downloads, not too shabby if I may say so. Congratulations!
Hope that creates enough waves to keep the numbers up after you make it paid again, and interest in Vangdels.

As for tip jar and such: I never said you have to rush it, just that it would be a good option :p

And your comment about wearing suits shows you're an artist :D I don't like having to obey a dresscode, but sometimes it's just part of the job you get paid to do, so deal with it if it brings the bagels in, is my take on that.

@shining jade: seconding Robert, great username. And looks like we have another cult member enthusiastic fan, welcome to the merry bunch. Group hugs are every second Thursday, chicken sacrifice on Saturdays in time before dinner ;)

Multiplayer: optional multiplayer could be fun stuff. My first idea was "playing hide and seek". With a (voice)chat feature I can easily imagine running a roleplaying session in an NL game.

I'm a fan of single player games - fable, Shadow of the colossus, Skyrim, etc... - i dont think BrightRidge would ever be multiplayer - i mean never say never, but i dont have the desire or the money to do that. I also love offline. My philosophy is simple, fair price, everything included. Ive had my share of surprises when i get the phone bill etc and i believe that everything should be transparent to the user. That's part of teh reason you can change so many things in the options:)
