That sounds right - ultra most things will crash my Air2 Ive been thinking of renaming them, maybe instead of Low, medium, high, ultra Something like Default, high, ultra, nextgen Mostly because a lot of the complaints are about the inabilty to run on ultra, but those options are just included to future proof the game, not really run it at those settings on all devices. Maybe a subtle changing of the word might more accurately describe what they bring? If i had the manpower and the devices, i would test each device individually and hide/disable options that crash that system, but taht would have to be in an update 9 thinking about it
Thank you I built the cinematic engine myself and its very flexible - a few rough edges, but as you can see its a great tool to have in the story telling toolbox. Im using them in the remaster of ballad of brightridge - where im rebuilding that adventure again but using the new Procedural engine. In update 8 i am looking at replacing my cinematic engine with Unity's new Cinemachine engine. We'll see how that goes but i like the idea of replacing game blocks bit by bit. 6.0 is now built all in blocks and each does its own thing, so upgrading it is easier than with version 3 which was lot of linear code that would break easily if something went wrong. And for the mystery, if i get to make all 5 areas all will be revealed
Hide joysticks - agreed, its teh new default Drag look off - yeah, i prefer drag look on, teh default where the camera keeps rotating. But some people really hate this - they like it off where the camera moves only when your thumb moves. i THINK i am going to stick with the default of it on, but im going to make the other option more visible and fis it so when you move your thumb the camera isnt so jerky. Its a tough call - perhaps the camera controls should have their own setup screen at the start somehow ina way that doesnt interfere with the narrative, or have popups that say "options here" and "change your controls her" etc Autocenter - when its on, if you look down or up, the caner will try to center teh view. Its pretty strng so the end result is right now you cant look up or down (a lot of people dont like this). With it off you can look up and down, but when you let go the camera wont auto center. I am going to leave it off as a new default but i will probably compromise and mix the two - look anywhere with a LIGHT autocentering, or the ability with a slider to adjust its strength.
Thats great. It was really you and Jack who turned me on to the crashing before it was widespread so thank you for saving the day there Im glad it was something quantifiable like those extra textures and not some untraceable bug (ive had only two of those i have never been able to fix in the game) So glad he liked the gnome home - i do too. it features prominently in The Wedding is Off, which was a story focused on Grimlin the gnome, but it was all over the place and Love & Tin came to me so i went with it instead. Still we have a great gnome home to run around in
thank you and please add a sensitivity slide bar setting for the camera angle because nullzone said that he need to scroll over and over to direct the camera angle to some point. for me its fine but it might be useful for some people,
There already is a sensitivity slider I just tested again: Even with sensi on default, I only need one big swipe to turn around 180 degrees, so that's ok in general. My problem is that due to my RSI I try to avoid any unneeded hand movements. And I adjust my view quite a lot if not all the time when walking around in BR. For me it's better that I only need to move my right thumb a tiny bit and then can hold down to keep turning, instead of having to do swipes.
I like the term "Swipe look" for the non-drag version. Im leaving the drag the way you like because its divided on that, and id rather the hold drag version, but Im going to reorganize that entire section and ill try to make it intuitive. Update soon
Nice! I first read "Nimian Legends: Vangelis" (as in the composer) Where is this area in relation to Brightridge? I looked around a bit on your huge browsergame map, but couldn't find it. If there's any even remotely reasonable way to connect it to BR, I'd love to also [edit for clarification] see this as DLC for it, so I can roam a wider area. If you want to place it as standalone app only, I can ask Catacomber how they do that with The Quest: There, you can add their standalone games to the main Quest game after purchase, creating one huge world.
I actually agree with you, edited my earlier post to make it a bit more clear. From a player perspective, I want a bigger world, though that's why I'm wondering how Cat does it.
I think of Vangelis too, his music and name make me think of lofty things, all chariots of fire when i was a kid and watching it seven times in teh cinema with om and grandma, back then you couldn't rent videos Vandgels is an ancient Citadela and the ruling house of Tiviscus, a devout nation on the western coast. Here's a map so you can see where they are relative to each other: and a few citizens of Vandgels: Emperoro Mortelle, Empress Suvika, and Cardino Ovo
Thank you - good advice - yes it's going to be a standalone game, but i do have some surprises in mind
Ok, that is ... whow. I remember that picture of the Emperor from the browsergame, he gives off that charming fanatic vibe I imagine him standing on a podium like this, calling for a crusade to purge all the heretics and unclean.
When BrightRidge was called Nimian Hunter : Salvation the landscape was twice the size it is now Nimian Hunter Salvation, the original that became BrightRidge today and believe it or not it was running on an iPhone 4S! When Unity 5 came out the mobile performance dropped. That was a big reason that i shrunk BrightRidge in size. And you can barely even run the free BrightRidge on a 4S, which gives you some idea of how much it changed. But with everything i have learned about mobile optimization i am giving the expanded landscape another try in Vandgels. So far so good but there is more work to do Yeah, Emperoro Mortelle is a vivacious speaker. But his politics are moderate and he genuinely want to steer the Empyre in the best direction. He has been an effective leader controlling the spread of a particularly infectious plague: But he has thrown his weight behind maintaining legal slavery, an unpopular move which has seen The Open Coast secede recently from the Empyre under the Treaty of Zea which abolished slavery on the open coast Subsequently the verdant, hilly nation of Savar followed suit, essentially splitting the Empyre in 2: which has left the powerful but nearly bankrupt nation of Tiviscus in a special position, powerful enough for the time being to launch a crusade into southern Nimia, in an attempt to gain territory and go against the North Empyre. This is when Nimian Legends : Vandgels takes place:
