i LOVE that music Most of the music is stock music from Audio Jungle - they're super easy to use and have great stuff. The guitar pieces are by Dmitriy Kondrashov from Audio Jungle https://audiojungle.net/user/kondrashovdmitriy https://twitter.com/dimaguitarman The hard part is it takes hours of listening to music to find something special, that fits with the various moods, and that fits together with tracks form other composers in a way that doesnt feel to disparate between them. His guitar music was so beautiful that it kind of evoked images in BrightRidge just listening to it. The 'sadder' tune from the ending, Minoriya https://audiojungle.net/item/minoriya/4120422?s_rank=11, i loved that too but i only had the first one and i wasnt going to get the second because i coudlnt see where it would fit. But i loved it so much. So i ended up getting it and putting it in, and it turned out it worked in so many places. Sometimes you have to hear the music and the visuals together to really feel a scene They ended up starting the game (butterfly dance https://audiojungle.net/item/butterfly-dance/3047878) and ending it
Is this game not compatible with the iPad Air 1? Just recently picked this up and I get a loading screen with the icon in the middle but then a couple seconds later I'm back at the home screen.
Hi JasonLL - thanks for asking and I'm really sorry to hear that. It should work fine on iPad Air 1, and it especially shouldn't crash on loading since the splash screen isn't very heavy. I'll have access to an iPad Air 1 early this week and i will double test the build on it to make sure. I can only think of a few things that might help but they are not to exciting and you may have tried these. Try holding the ipad upside down. There was a bug in unity where if the app was started in the wrong orientation (i cant remember which one) it would crash. If this doesnt work try closing all other apps and restarting your device to clear the memory (although as i said since the splash screen inst memory intensive i dont think this would be the problem). Finally try deleting and reinstalling the app. This will clear any potential saved data that might be a problem. I know these are not fun to do, but they're the best broad way to see if stabilizing the system will help. If non of these help please let me know, and ill post an update about my own test on iPad Air 1 as soon as i can. BTW could you let me know which version of IOS you're using if possible? Thank you
It's the orientation bug again, just tried. @Jason, hold the iPad so that the home button is at your right hand, and it should start just fine. When you get the Start button screen, things are ok and you can turn it around again.
Wow thank you Nullzone for testing that and posting this so quickly. @jason please keep me posted. yeah, i think to get rid of that bug i have to upgrade to Unity 5.4. Im not sure if it's fixed there but it might be. Right now my path is: 1. open beta for raw android port to find translation bugs 2. add MiFi support - this will be usable in all platforms and opens up the project to the Mac/PC port 3. Upgrade the combined project file to Unity 5.4 - i havent done this yet mostly because i thought there was a mobile performance drop in Unity 5.3 This will help me have a true multiplatform ready project file. Then i can focus on the final updates of polish, bug fixing and 'object orienting' remaining code Android version -shadow bug
Thank you Protopop and Nullzone for the very quick help. Turning my iPad so the home button is on the right did fix the issue. I can now look forward to exploring the world.
I'm so glad to hear that! I hope you enjoy BrightRidge. And thank you again for taking the time to post your question. It will help other people who come here searching for the answer
I can't load it on my ipad air, latest OS. Is it not supported? The game crashes before starting. Edit. It was the orientation bug. Solved.
I was just about to suggest that I so glad you solved it. And it also perfectly illustrates what i said in my last post how asking questions helps everyone Thank you for trying BrightRidge, and if you enjoy it please leave a rating or review - it helps!
Thanks you very much. I haven't played very much yet, but I am gonna soon. Sadly I can't use high-end resolution with my air.
I'm happy to hear that yeah, high will choke the iPad Air. Even iPad Air 2 will stutter on high and ultra, although if you reduce other settings like grass density and water type you can gain back a few frames. High and Ultra were mostly included to future-proof BrightRidge, so that as faster devices come out you can adjust the settings higher to get increasing visuals. High on iPad is almost 1080p, even Xbox One struggles with that for some games. And Ultra is 1500p I'm really curious how high resolutions will perform on an iPhone 7.
It seems the only way to play the story mode is to delete the game and reinstall, losing my exploring progress from before? I can't get the story mode to work as is. (I'm not even sure if that will help because I get the "RESET or DON'T RESET option for less than a second before the screen just goes black and I can't do anything. I especially don't want to delete my save if it won't make a difference.)
What happens exactly? Do you not even get the buttons to select between Story and Exploration? Or does it freeze/crash after you select story? Etc. UPDATE: Just saw your edit, seems we wrote at the same time I did some testing via Testflight, and even going from normal to test version and then updating to normal again worked perfectly fine. So I think it's not a general issue. Where do you get the reset dialogue? From the reset button in the settings menu, or when you try to start storymode? I cannot remember if I got a prompt to reset during testing. And now I don't get one, but guess that is because I completed the story chapters already - or, rather, because I had storymode started before. Which iOS version are you on?
I uploaded a clip of it so you can see. If I delete the game and use the cheats to get the characters back, is it the same thing? Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
Crap, I just lost my almost completed lengthy post Don't feel like retyping, so you'll have to wait for Robert to chime in. I don't know if there is a difference between "menu reset" and "story mode save wipe", but guess yes. Activating Cheats will unlock everything (shapechanges and I can't recall if there's more), so you can go back to full unlock in explore mode right away, even after a full wipe. @Robert: small typo in the reset button text, "erase" not "arase". And I like the new question mark button to bring up the interesting spots descriptions, looks cleaner that way. I only noticed it at the Nameless Statue, and didn't see the new button right away, so at first I thought my vanity description is gone Well, on the plus side, I have a new story snippet for our historian, dropping it already so I don't forget: "Spending the night with a small merchant caravan - and the most welcome safety of their armed retainers, I learned that the commemorative plaque the Guild placed on that well-known nameless statue has disappeared ... again. Not that I would blame anyone for taking it, this was a signed one after all." (Yep, not short in the overinflated ego department, that one )
Hey AppUnwrapper, thanks for taking the time to upload that video clip, it made it really apparent what the problem was. And thank you Nullzone for chiming in Thats a bug - i added the fadeout late in the development and it shoudlnt have faded out when that reset screen pops up - ive made a note to fix it in the update. The explore mode and storymode use the same save file (for now) so if you want to play story mode as it should be its best to erase your save file and start fresh. You can do this on the splash screen when it gives you the choice between story mode and exlore mode. There is a round button on the top right and you can use it to reset your game. if you dont want to reset your game and before i fix the bug, i think you can click DONT RESET very quickly before the screen fades. This will also register you as being on version 3 and the game will not ask you again. If you decide to reset your game later you can do it any time from the splash screen or in options > settings > reset. if you dont reset then i dont THINK it will really ruin the game. But you will have all the shape changes you had from your earlier save in the story and that might have unintended consequences. For example you might be able to fly places youre 'not supposed to' before the story is ready to give you the butterfly story. If you do reset you can always use options > settings > cheats at any time to get all the shapechanges back. But if yo play all of story mode after a reset you will end up getting most everything you can get in the explore mode except for a couple of shape changes and the teleporters activated. Story mode and explore mode also now give you fast attack and fast bow from the beginning because it was more fun and the slow attack and slow bow were kind of sludgy i found, so those power towers have been removed from both modes. i hope that makes sense and i know its not ideal, but it was really hard to make separate save files in the time allotted so i just let that go, but i will be trying to add separate saves in the future. in the meantime my suggestion is just to go with the reset and play story mode, and at the end you can use cheats to gain the final 3 elements, or switch over to explore mode after the story and get he missing items manually by climbing the three remaining towers. Thanks for writing and i hope you will be able to try story mode and that this wont be too much of a hassle, and that you enjoy the game If you do and feel so inclined, a review or rating in the app store will go a long way to help me promote BrightRidge because the reviews are the only real marketing too i have. And thanks again for letting me know about the bug - that really helps
Thats funny about their armed retainers because the original story included Ambassador Gish and her Empyrial Guards, but it ended up not fitting into the story so i dropped them for a future adventure. I especially would like to introduce the world to Ambassador Gish - she is a complex and very powerful character Empyrial Guards It would be cool to have some kind of book or ledger in the inn that people could read info like what you typed up - it all adds to BrightRidge's flavor. Thanks for the typo heads up too Im testing the straight port of the Android version tonight, and think there will be a closed or open android beta this week. The goal is to find the bugs in the translation (i found about 10 like screwed up shadows, some filters not working etc...). I'm also adding MiFi support that is the missing link to release the PC and Mac version. I basically play the PC version everytime i test it so it is just missing MiFi support and a way to pause the game so that moving the mouse around the options doesnt wildly spin the camera. It already has keyboard support for jumping, moving and 'attacks'.
