Storyline completed, great stuff. And some very impressive visuals too. Took some nice photos, but will wait till the storymode is available on iTunes - don't want to spoil anything. Oh, and for some parts I *really* wanted a video recording function. Does anyone know a solution that only involves my iPad, i.e. no mirroring to a PC for recording or somesuch? Now, please excuse me, I hear a certain historian wants to go on a stroll Update: Almost forgot. On the ending screen, it looks as if the Ent is on *very* friendly terms with the Bear not sure if that's your intention, but it's funny for sure.
Just found this going back in the thread. Unless I missed something, it's not in the current quests. Any chance to throw it into the exploration mode? Looks great, you shouldn't waste it.
Thank you, voice of reason I had a great time out in Nature. the bug is fixed and i am making a few small updates and plan to submit BrightRidge again tomorrow. Yeah, in my rush i was uploading v6 then saw the bug wasnt fixed so i reverted, twice v5 still has the bug but tomorrows wont Yes about teh decoupling - im a firm believer in object oriented and procedural (Nimian Legends Empires creates procedural characters, quests, relation ships and cards) - theres a few main processes in BrightRidge that are still linear - id like at some point to make them fully object oriented - i think its something i need to do before i do the sequels, resources pending
Thank You ThirdMoon - i really needed to hear that yeah, im trying to change my attitude from "crisis!!!!all the time! bugs!" to "i worked hard on this and it has flaws ut there is a lot more beauty in it and people will enjoy that and keep healthy and enjoy and do my best" (that was a long philosophy Oh and the excitemnet is a great thing, it keeps me believing!
Thank YOU for being oart of teh process - both with encouragement and play testing Nullzone answered the rest but yes about hiding the arrow and objective marker. They should auto hide in camera mode - ive added it to my to dolist. I also want teh character to show - it will happen Right now when you switch to camera mode, you are actually the character as the camera flying around, with the hero hidden. I think i will remove your character from the camera when you switch, and load in back in again when youre back. I have to be careful though because in 3d rotations can get away from you and need to be carefully reset. It would be cool to take a photo with the character, like a "wish you were here" kind of thing PS i think its still there if you tap the arrow itself, options come up taht let yoy hide them or change them - its an undocumented feature
Thats absolutely hilarious about the Bear/Ent coupling That ent also moans a lot for my taste and i need to add in a bit of randomness at that end scene. The concept is nice but i think it will need polish in the timing and subtlety to avoid bordering on cheesy I literally just copy pasted your sentence into my to do list - its all i need ! BTW at one point i had angered the Ent and forgot to make him (actually a her) friendly, and she came in and started whipping the poor bear. I actually just found out that i can add in an apple api thing that lets us record in game videos. It looks very involved so i will have to wait for an update since i dont want to break anything, but it sounds like a great idea.
Yeah, the forest fire became the background setting under one of the major encounters, i had played with a few ideas but honestly i was having trouble coming up with a way to put out the fire. I was thinking of something along the lines using those water pipes around brightridge - whoch if i had time would like to make more prominent) but in the end i dropped it - you should see the original list of quests. There were a lot more 3d puzzles that were very cool, but i decided to pull them out so i could reasonably finish this. And thematically the puzzle quests were more consistent with the tone of The Bone Sea, which is the fantasy desert sequel should it (hopefully) happen>Each of the original 4 locations have a keyword. For BrightRidge : Wilderness, For The Bone Sea : Puzzles, For Residi Bay : Politics, and for GoldenWood : Dracozids. I really hope i can eek out some kind of return on BrightRidge, because i would LOVE to show everyone what residi Bay is like - its a very cool environment and plot and i dont think weve seen anything quite like it yet. PS im bumping the images BTW these shots are directly from iPad air 2 (with banners laid over them) in Ultra Resolution, which runs choppy on the air (the default medium is very smooth) but I have heard on the newere devices people are running things at high and ultra, i am sure the iphone 7 and even newer devices can handle more and the overclocked settings are there as the devices become ready.
Amen Brother Amenbrother It was a lot of work. And I had some great help from some people on the forum. I hope people will enjoy it.
Thanks currymutton I still want to polish some stuff, but for the most part it's what i set out to create. I'm relieved it's finally out too!
Oh nice, congratulations! Then I can load up my screenshots soon Now we need to get you a frontpage TA article and an Apple feature. I don't follow those closely, does anyone know who'd be the best to contact for that? Tasos Lazarides or Shaun Musgrave (he's really short on time, unfortunately) maybe? And great that you had a good mini-vacation, Robert. Sounds like you should do that more often. And I have an idea for putting out the forest fire, not to be taken too seriously: Change into the Dragon, grab the big whale from the sea, fill it up with water. Lo behold, fantasy waterbomber plane
Im always happy to see screenshots And im getting two more days of mini vacation tomorrow and Wednesday. I like the water bomber idea - you know im open to anything and the most natural feeling one wil come through. I guess i have to make sure that im ot trying to chase a story to fill the moment and instead the other way around - ill try to think about what is happening in brightridge, why fires happen in life and why a fire would happen and be put out in the land. Sometimes a solid story element is best and sometimes its fun just to have big poppy moments, and sometimes you can make the crazy ideas like a fantasy waterbomber work well in a game so i like the comment - it kind of lubricates the idea machine
Awesome redribbon This entire thread is thanks to you and I hope you enjoy the update. I'm going to do one more to polish up rough edges and add the final shapechanges, and am working on the android version now too.
You were very helpful with your comments and support You are helping artists with your encouragement and thats a very generous attitude to have.
Folan Wolf wrote a really nice and detailed review of BrightRidge I'm very touched and thought i would share it here - warning there is some slightly spoiler-ish stuff about the story in here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WMzFkCcQyE
