Proto, thanks for sharing and for continuing to do what you do! It's definitely hard to hear unfair criticism, but I commend you on showing love. It would be tempting to not do so.

Also, I'm so excited to see the update! Congrats on nearing release.

You just introduced me to Prisma - cool:)

After this i'd like to open up as many of the filters as possible in the game options. I have dozens but limit it just because of time. it might be cool to open a kind of photoshop inside the game - like specialize and expand the photo taking aspect.

Rando on InnBridge - Ramp filter on - morning

Thanks Amenbrother. I usually do. I am getting a lot of reviews ripping into me because they think i am a corporation out to scam them.

The guy wrote back and apologized today. They're not the first ones - after i explain things they usually feel pretty bad, but by then the damage is done. The last thing i need at night while im working is an abusive email telling me that I should be ashamed of myself for working on the very thing im working so hard on.

I feel a lot better after reading these comments and his apology, so in the end love not hate works well. I believe in BrightRidge and am proud of it, and i have to accept that there are a lot of understandably unhappy people who need somewhere to vent (i do that too) and sometimes its done in the wrong place.

I like that idea - i can take it as a compliment that they think im a big team or something:)

After I explained things he apologized today which was nice.

I may take his advice. they wrote:

I think you should put something in the description of the apps to let those people who bought the first app know what happened. I'm not sure if you can do that or not, but I think it might help explain things. That's what my problem was. If you look at it from my point of view it looks like a creator made an app(charged money for it), then made another app that's like a continue of the first app(charged money for it as well), then made the first app free which all looks like a huge scam. To top it off, looking at the descriptions in the app made it seem like nothing even happened. After hearing what happened I'm not upset anymore knowing its not a scam.

One other bit of good news from this is that i have gotten a trial by fire marketing experience that will help me prevent problems before they happen:)

PS thank you for taking the time to post your words of encouragement even though you were tired

Thank you:) Yeah, im excited too about releasing this update. It gives the game another dimension.

Love worked - they wrote back and apologized today. That was nice.

PS it WAS tempting not to show love, but it wouldn't have made either of us feel any better.

Maybe someday I'll move to BrightRidge and sit on the porch:)

The porch is my favorite spot in real life... So why not in BrightRidge too?!? Great idea. ;)

You might be kinder than that guy but I ain't. I would have told him to go eff himself. Lol

I'm just kidding. You did it right. But just to say something. I had no problem buying both. You are a good person and a good dev. We appreciate all the time you take to come here and talk to us. To me it was way worth the little bit of money you have asked for both.

Plus this version is pretty damn incredible to be honest. I still don't even understand how the hell you've done this on your own. You really need to be working at EA or something lol

You are welcome, some say Prisma is to filter app the same way Pokémon GO is to mobile game app

I see no the Flash now. Shall we expect Green Arrow or Super Girl anytime soon?

    Keep up the good work!

Aww, thank you Billy:) It's kind of cool to see the name behind LordShad0wz.

I ran a full playthrough of the new storyline last night and listed 230 bugs and improvements i think need to be made. After tonight i'm down to 150 so it's going pretty well.

So to avoid trying to read 123 pages of comments, could someone please answer a simple question for me - is there a story/campaign to this or is it all about a (very, very beautiful!) tech demo exploration of an open world?

For the money, I'm almost inclined to throw it at you whether there's a game behind it or not - simply to applaud your efforts and hard work. Blown away by the visuals I've seen in pics and videos so far. Really, well done. #

@ZS77: Calling Brightridge a techdemo is like calling Kobe beef McDonalds ;)
Storymode is coming soon, check one page before your comment.
Other than that, even with "only exploration" there is *a lot* to discover, and many landmarks have a bit of backstory attached.
Not to forget that the exploration is the experience. Wait till you see the Ents for the first time, or climb the Terrapin, and you'll see what I mean.
It only conveys a little bit of what it was like to actually play it, but take a look at the Cartographers' Guild thread in my sig to get a bit of an impression.
As you write that you like the visuals, you will not regret getting BR, I'm sure.

Thanks ZS77:) It's a lot of work and i really appreciate your compliments. They are part of the bread and butter that fuels my creativity.

Nullzone pretty much said it - the current version 2 is just exploring the Open World Wilderness. Many locations, swimming, flying, shapechanging to uncover, its all about exploration.

The new update 3 which i am THIS close to finishing (im very excited) included a 2 hour or so storyline. Its a story about friendship and sacrifice. It is for the most part non violent and nature based, but with quite a few dramatic moments as well. I have a few remaining bugs and polish to fix and then i will release it on the App store. After that i am planning a version 4 update to polish off any other ideas i had about the game and fix any remaining bugs. If i can sell enough games to continue working on them, im going to release the three other locations after that (it was originally a much larger world but i scaled it back to just the area of BrightRidge because it was too much to make all at once)

I hope you'll check it out either now or when the Story Mode is released - i will make an announcement here s soon as its ready (with the Android version coming soon after)

lol That's a great description - it should be in my marketing material:) You're pretty good with words, aren't you?

The story mode really makes the world seem different, its because it takes you through the world with a different point if view i think. There are actually still a lot of places the story doesnt take you - room for expansion one day? I built the story engine so that it is easy to add in and create new quests - i think i will end up polishing it as time goes on and i get feedback - it is kind of this early-access living-game ever evolving thing that i have going on with BrightRidge:) For a solo dev like me its one of the best ways to keep motivated when you see your 'baby' growing.

One thing im VERY excited about too is upgrading Unity, the engine used t make this. I ran some tests of the game in the new version and i didnt want to do it now because im in the middle of finishing the stories, but after they are released i will upgrade the engine and the lighting and landscapes look even better in it. That'll be for the final update 4

Cool, thanks for your replies guys. I must admit, I'm a sucker for having a driving mechanic to push me along - either compelling story, levelling up, looting or, preferably, a heady combination of all 3! That said, as I posted earlier, for the price of half a coffee, it's hardly going to break the bank to show a bit of support to someone that's clearly poured heart and soul in to their creation. #

Thanks:) I admit i do pour my heart into this. You know its funny, i dont really know why i do this? spend hours, i mean thousands of hours over years, my only explanation is its just in my soul to do it, and the dungeon master in me loves making worlds:)

I like that you mentioned collectibles. There's been some mild debate from fans (do i call them fans? is that pretentious?) about having collectibles. some feel its a cliche game mechanic, others like the structure and motivation it brings to the world. When BrightRidge started, it was just a walk simulator - its strength was its size, the exploration. Then the most requested feature was a storyline. And i like storylines - im a huge fable fan and a fan of narratives in games in general. So i created one. And what was interesting to me as i made it - there is the pretty big world to explore, and i thought the story would take you to every corner of it. But then so much of it takes place in the same area, i think it covers about a third of the actual area. BUT the story addition made these small places come alive. The inn is no longer just an inn, its a home you are fixing up to attract guests so you can pay the bills, the smaller areas become filled with this kind of richness added on by the story, making smaller individual areas more interesting i think.

Which brings me to the collectibles. I cant remember what it was now, but the other night there was some kind of powerup that could be improved during the game. I remember now - its the JumpPads you get that let you jump through the air from one to another, kind of like flying. And i was thinking levelling them up is too complex to integrate into the story given my resources right now, but it might be cool to just have it as an optional side mechanic that's there if you want to take it. Like there are these ViewDots all over BrightRidge that give you bits and pieces of the worlds history, and maybe you could collect all of them and use the points to upgrade you pads. Now that youve mentioned the benefits of collectibles ill look into adding that to the game:) Thank you.

A Typical ViewDot in BrightRidge. You can click the question mark in the game for more details. You can kind of get an idea of scale - the tiny blob just to the left of the purple glowing dot is your player - a young boy and his hammer

from 230 to 35 items left. Phew!

One of the new items is a new BrightRidge Splash screen.

The location is the newly revamped Thedrale, an ancient stone port on the west cost of BrightRidge, near Eagles Keep.

Excellent job on your list and the new splash screens! Everything just keeps on looking more and more like a AAA title from a "big box" studio, and that effect is made even MORE incredible by knowing it's just one guy at the heart of it all. Keep up the great work! Can't wait for Story Mode! #
