    My first idea was to just drop them on your blog. No need to put any extra effort into it. I an all honesty, I am simply to lazy to create e.g. a Pinterest (or whatever you use these days) account and bother with yet another platform ;)

    Nice lore about the stones and statues, that should be somewhere in the game.

    About the game setting list you posted:
    It's a bit long to put into the Appstore description.
    How about putting it on your blog? Then you only need to add a link and a one-liner like "Look here for some example graphical settings" to the desc.

    And the new terrain quality looks great.

    Thought about what you wrote in the other thread, that your branding isn't the best.

    How about stealing a page from Baldur's Gate's book?
    Call the improved version "Brightridge: Enhanced Edition" or something like that?
    For BG it really caught on, and the new versions are generally referred to as BG:EE, IWD:EE, etc.

    Except there isn't any owls in the game. It's that crazy old wolf! Haha.

    Interesting. I know my ears aren't the best anymore, but it very much sounded like an owl. I heard the wolf howl somewhere else, and it sounded different to me.
    Worked it into the write-up: Be it recorded that the Paragon is of a different opinion here, and identifies the animal sounds heard as the howling of a wolf instead. ;)

    Interesting - ive even thought about removing Nimian Legends from the title and just calling it BrightRidge, although the sequels would benefit from having NL in the titles to show they;re from the same family.... thanks for the idea:)

    So i showed this to everyone I know - its very cool:) Like when i goto the bookstore and see all these Fable, dialo, warhammer novels - now BrightRidge has its very own journal entry! Thanks for taking the time to write this, it makes me feel like the world has flavour

    My neighbour said he totally understood why it sounds like an owl - i might try to find a more "howly" sound for the wolf, and also write some better AI so she isnt always following people around howling:)

    If you change the wolf howl sound, you should keep the current owl sound as well.
    How about playing it (sometimes only, maybe?) when you get near one of the "Findlinge" / Igri Barbarian Heads. Would add to their mystery, I think. We can always come up with a proper in-universe explanation later.

    Thanks! Glad to hear you like it. I want to write a complete tour of Brightridge, ideally in-universe. Didn't find the right tone for that yet, and been too busy the last week to get any further. Did a really nice tour starting on top of the Terrapin; unfortunately I didn't make enough notes :( but it shouldn't be a problem to do it again, I followed easily visible landmarks and terrain features.

    Update 1.1

    Im about half way through the 1.1 update. Here's a few pics:

    PUFFIDS

    Puffids are mutated, pumpkin-like weeds that are overgrowing parts of Nimia. They are posionous and will hurt you on touch, they also explode in a satisfying dusty puff when hit. They arose in part because I wanted something fun added to the game that wasn't overtly violent.

    My original Puffids were a lot more animal like, i ended up changing them because with their "eyes" it felt like i was walking around killing kittens when i hit them:) The newer pumpkin ones are also easier to see from a gameplay point of view.

    ROAD UPDATE

    I am recreating the original roads using a new road system that gives me more flexibilty and options to create roads and paths (there are a few new forest paths i the update). The terrain itself has also been updated with more detail in its shape. Here's a new forest path, there is now a subtle up and down erosion to the previously more flat terrain sections

    MISS FIXIT

    Part of the upcoming quests involves taking care of the inn and getting it ready for more visitors, as well as making use of the pipes that cross the land, and defending against unruly animals. The wrench is the young Giska's tool of choice, nicely oversized a la classic anime style:)

    I'm already officially calling those heads Findlings internally:) Thanks for the good name.
    I also think i will add in an Owl, especially since i already have one ready to go. I like the hooting near the findling concept - its like all those tiny idiosyncratic touches add to the believablity of the world as another place somewhere in time.

    Owl sounds nice, will it be another animal, or a shapechange as well?

    I like the puffids. The top picture makes them look more like lanterns, in the bottom one they look more like creepy bugs. You should keep those for another NL game.
    Also, I'd be careful that you don't overload BR with features and it gets too crowded.

    Hhmm, idea about the puffids: they do look lighter than air in the first picture. This sounds complicated to implement, but it would be fun if you could cut their stem and make them fly off :)

    The new Terrapin looks way too shiny and ScienceFiction-y to me, definitely like the current one better.

    Also, nitpick: The correct plural of Findling is Findlinge in German, but go ahead and "English-ize" it ;)

    Don't despair, it still works: iOS 9.3.1 crashes NL:BR on iPad Air1

    I just started NL:BR the first time after upgrading my iPad Air1 to iOS 9.3.1 (not jailbroken).
    The bad news: BR crashed a dozen times or so before it finally started.
    The good news: Ultimately it started, and is running fine since then. Issue solved.

    What happened:
    I usually play in Airplane Mode, for various reasons.
    When I started BR, it just kept crashing and crashing.
    At first I thought it's the same as before, that it needs a few tries before working properly. Nope, no luck.
    Cleaning memory with Battery Doctor didn't help. So, reboot. Oh, now what is that? Thanks Apple for introducing a new "feature" :p
    You'll get a popup saying "Unable to Verify App. A connection to the App Store is required for the first launch..." .
    Ok, let's do that. But still no luck... took 5 or so more tries until it finally started up. And just like before, now it's running smoothly as ever.
    So, good news after all :)

    Can anyone playing on an Air2 or one of the Pros check if the same happens there?

    @proto: Just in case, I'll send you the crashlogs later in my evening.

    Found another Nameless Statue

    Found another Nameless Statue.
    Wonder if that one doesn't have a name on purpose, or if you left it out by accident.
    It's on the Open Coast, a bit north of the Windmill.
    This didn't exist in the original version, or do I remember that wrong?

    Story idea:
    It wasn't there before. The lay of the land on the Open Coast changed. How and when exactly, noone knows for sure. It's not an area where people come by every day, after all. Did this happen in other places before? Are there historical records of similar events? Legends and myths? Oral history?
    And I am quite sure a certain travelling historian will be *very* interested, once the Cartographers' Guild gets word to him...

    Note that the screenshot also shows a drawing issue with the Terrapin:
    The rings show, but the Pin itself not.

    Yeah, the original tower is more fantasy, and i liked the spiral you could climb. I had to balance that against the fact the tower is alien origin, and the new one works better for how it fits in with the upcoming quests. Maybe the original tower will make an apperance in another form, or the new tower may incorporate more overgrown fantasy features.

    That;s fun about the Puffids floating, like chinese lanterns. For now they explode when you hit them, its super satisfying:)

    Im so glad to have the opportunity to make games, but sometimes the speed of Unity and Apple updates and incompatibilities is very hard for one person to keep up with:) Im glad it finally worked though - i think all i can do is keep an eye out and test as much as possible. Thanks so much for the feedback, and for the error message - it may help me track things down.

    Funny, i cant remember if it was there before:) The HD and original version have blended together in my brain.

    Thanks about the Terrapin - the draw distance for the tower is closer than for the rings - especially when you're at the very edge of the world like that. Im fixing it in the next update:)

    Wow - youre really getting to know your way around BrightRidge. Its like how i know Skyrim locations just by seeing them in a screenshot. Cool!
