That's interesting. Like be able to choose what shows there? like change it to the camera button, or a shortcut to the shapechange options? Yeah i really like those. It feels like they are part of the ecosystem - Baedles cling like barnacles to rock. They are the mutant cows of nimian legends. If you look below them, you might find the hollow remains of a poor baedle that fell off and was eaten by a Dracozid.
Brightridge Holiday Picture Contest Just for fun, as I can't hand out prizes Who knows from which spot I took this picture?
Yes, select what the button does. E.g. switch to picture mode, go to shapechange menu, or even put a specific shapechange on it. I found the broken shell, thank you very much , just couldn't get it on the picture as well. I absorbed way too much H.R. Giger and similar artwork to not get scared sh*tless by something like this. Not your fault at all, but something that jumps "Alien Cocoon Surprise!" at me was the last thing I expected to see in BR, making it even scarier on first encounter. I still cannot really look at them, way too icky and disturbing for me and my imagination.
In all honesty, it depends. For me, it's one of the best experiences in 35 years of gaming, sharing pretty lofty heights with other masterpieces like Planescape:Torment and King of Dragon Pass (you hear that, Robert? ) BR is truly unique, I know no other game like it. If you like exploring for its own sake, deep immersion, and be all awed by beautiful landscapes: then it's the best - and graphically most gorgeous - thing I know. The graphical options you can fiddle around with have no equal I know of and make for everything from subtle to drastic changes in atmosphere. In the near future, we'll see quests added as well. If you want combat, xp, treasure, action, and so on: then you'll have to look elsewhere.
I do! That's beautiful - i love the colors. And i really like how you framed it as a portrait. I want to beef up the photo system so we can take more custom shots too.
Pssst, don't tell yet Nice to hear you like it. The colors occured by themselves, I didn't put in any specific filters or effects to get them. And I had to crop the right part of the picture, because standard iOS screenshots are too big for uploading to TA, no artistic intention behind it I can assure you
I could only now try some more. 1. Ever since it first started, it works. Even if I start it with home button to the left. 2. The BrightRidge Logo shows up correctly, when home button to the left 3. Immediately afterwards, the Protopop Logo is already upside down 4. The rest of the game is upside down as well BUT 5. If I rotate my iPad 180 degrees and then back, the screen will rotate and I can play with home button left. So in conclusion, everything works fine. Once you figure out how ;-) Talking in layman's terms: Right after the BrightRidge logo, the game seems to insist the home button is to the right, without checking. Rotating the device "activates" the checking. You know what I mean ... Hope that helps.
You did help - a lot! Thanks to your info and Nullzones observations, as well a small details some other people mentioned, i think the bug is pretty much tracked down to holding the device a certain way in IOS 9 at startup. Im finding a lot about it online, and im looking to see if it can be fixed by upgrading Unity. This is exactly what I mean by being grateful for feedback, even when its hard to here, it ultimately helps
I love solitude. I love exploration and discovery. I love nature. I love running through beautiful scenery. I love peace and animals and lovely sounds. I love this game/experience because it's all these things I love in life. It's soothing and inspiring and moving. I hope that whatever quests and other things are added in the future, you keep the possibility of peaceful, immersive exploration for those of us who love it. And thank you again, Robert, for making this lovely thing, and for being so active and responsive in the forum. I think you rock.
Well said! And JR, it's a beautiful experience, where you can enjoy exploring and discovering abilities to change into creatures and explore more. My favorite so far is the dragon. Protopop is creating quests, more combat, and story I believe, but the heart of this adventure is about being immersed in this world and appreciating the discovery and sights. Personally, every time I fire it up, I end up taking more screen shots and using the IN-GAME camera. It's amazing to be able to become a photographer of every inch of this world. Hope that helps your decision! Also, there's a free version that doesn't have as many options or creatures/people. Check that one out. It's quite similar in its perspective.
Found something cool and funny. If you follow the straight path in the beginning of the game, you'll eventually reach a place called BrightRidge Inn, if you go inside it, the people start to clap and a music begins to play. If you go to the carpet near the fire, everybody and your character begins dancing. It's funny as hell how our character dances. You guys need to check it out.
Wonderful - thank you Valentia The quests are mostly nature based, its really a story about friendship, growing up together in BrightRidge, and saving it from a mystery. So far there's only some very light combat and I did include violence as a game mechanic because its more realistic, you can technically kill almost anything in BrightRidge if you want to in the current version, but its also a choice you can make to peacefully observe - theres no unprovoked violence. If you dont threaten the animals you'll notice they wont attack you. And if you do kill one, what happens to their spirit view? Its forever frozen where they fell, a grim reminder that something that was once full of life, to be followed and observed, is now forever silent. That sounds so cheesy but its true
Thank you for the really nice review on iTunes You know, your writing is so good, i think your description of BrightRidge is more engaging than mine. I might want to use some of your description in the product description if that's OK?
I laughed out loud when i read this Im so glad you noticed. The hero dancing was something i always wanted to have, ever since i left it out of the first version. There's some wonky stuff going on with their foot But isnt it great to just let loose and dance at sunset inside by a warm fireplace?
Yeah, defititely. If you think it helps convey what you're going for to potential players, please use anything you want! I might eventually add to it down the road, as my experience grows.
Well, for the Hero arriving of course Jokes aside, I think the clapping is supposed to be at the end of the song and the sequence starts in the wrong spot. If they clap because Joe McDoodle just picked up his fiddle to play a merry tune, that should be shown too. Didn't know Melbourne Shuffle was invented back then already I tried with the female adult, and her footwork looks a lot like hers.
just obtained the fox form. the scenery is just awesome! okay a number of things for improvements: 1. when stepping on water pond, I think it should be splash 2. the fox should be not always in the "running" action when it stops and I think the pov should also be lower. 3. cannot really look upwards... 4. when I "fall" down the slope, I notice some how the far objects are viewable through the slope polygons.
