I've noticed that there are a lot of white spots and I can't figure out how to get rid of them. In this picture there are three, but there were actually many more that flicker off and on. I haven't changed any of the settings or made any adjustments to anything. Any suggestions? I am running the game on an iPad Air, and I really like it but the spots are distracting because they flicker... IMG_0341.jpg

Set the time to morning OPTIONS > PLAYGROUND > TIME OF DAY > MORNING (and you can uncheck DAY CYCLE if you dont want the game to automatically advance the time of day so it will stay there). You can also turn on reflections (OPTIONS > PLAYGORUND > EFFECTS > REFLECTIONS) but when I took that video on iPhone 6 the AI wasnt fully implemented , so now reflections are off on iPhone 6 and are only enabled for iPad Air 2 and higher. You can turn them on but it will probably be laggy. Then its basically whenever you fly into the morning sun you will get that nice effect of the lens flare and glow (i learned to fly into the sun a lot for the videos because its my favorite effect). You can also turn on global fog (OPTIONS > PLAYGROUND > EFFECTS > GLOBAL FOG) - i didnt use that in the iPhone 6 video, but its a really cool effect that is very performant and adds a lot of atmosphere. in fact i think i might leave it on by default but a bit less intense (and add an intensity slider for that effect, right now you can only control the intensity for regular fog, which is a separate effect from global fog). You can also tuen off the weather, sometimes when it has weather fog - yet another fog setting , this one takes place as volumetric clouds that surround you) it makes everything pretty dark for a bit - OPTIONS > PLAYGROUND > WEATHER and uncheck show weather)

Love it:) I ended up building the windmill (except the sails) and the new Inn from scratch because i wasnt happy with the buildings i was originally using. I wanted to be able to build things that were more unique. i studied a lot of imagery, including the wonky house in Fable, and build the wood etc,, and then just actually built each one from scratch. Im really proud of those:)

I think this is a great idea.

Someone wrote me asking the same thing, and i wasnt sure how to implement it. But if i can figure out Game Center, it should be straightforward to save the world state - its only like 25 or so variables. it's something I am definitely looking into:) Thanks!

Im so glad you tried the game, and thanks for the benchmarks. yeah, the iPad Air 2 is the most powerful of the bunch, although i havent tried it on iPhone 6s, or either of teh iPad Pros - im assuming the 6s probably matches the iPad Air 2, and the iPad Pros...well i have no idea but it must be good:)

Unity lets you start most games in "best performance" mode , which on ipads is around 1024x768. I added in the resolution switch so you can play at native resolution, but it will have trouble pushing that. In my defense, even xbox struggles with 1080p;) But im thinking forward, so what we have now for sale are the worst devices that can run this (and it still works) and it will only get better and able to run more i imagine. Ill also be adding some higher res settings, the big one being the ability to double the texture quality. My only concern here, which i am checking out, is will the older devices still have to load the double textures even if they dont use them? I dont THINK they do, so it should work (ive tested it long before and it makes everything look even better on iPad Air 2. I will keep everyn posted on that:)

I love Bloom but its not everyones cup of tea. Fable is a big inspiration for me and i loved all the flares and bloom there, but many people had similar reactions. Im working on a way to save your quality settings when you restart (without getting you "trapped" if you set them too high for the device, probably with a basic quality preset option on the splash screen a s get out of jail free card). that way if you dont like bloom youll be able to turn it off once and have it stay that way:) (no more jj abrams flare madness!)

Hearing all this makes me really glad i added in so many options. When iphone came out there was like one standard to match. Now theres so much difference between each device release that i think this is the only way to go. It will also help future proof the game as i imagine soon devices will be powerful enough to run everything on ultra peach smooth (i dont even think thats a saying, it just sounded right:) I wish they would add this to console games too. i wouldnt mind bumping up the effects on Assasins Creed syndicate (already a beautiful game) to match the effects in AC Unity (the most beautiful game i have ever played except for RYSE) at the expense of some frame rate. i also learned everyone is different. I dont mind a lower frame rate but i think it makes some people sick, so youre able to kind of pick and choose the tradeoffs.

This is mostly because of the bloom - which im experimenting with Unitys new "anti-flicker" bloom that should fix it in an update - and is more or less visible depending on the size of the device and the brightness of the light. I think turning off bloom OPTIONS> PLAYGROUND > EFFECTS > BLOOM should remove it for now, or you can lower the light intensity to the middle one OPTIONS > PLAYGROUND > LIGHT > choose the middle one (im writing from memory, sorry i can remember what i named it). Im also working on a way to save you quality settings so you wont have to change them every time.

Can anyone by chance post their settings for a 6s+? I'm trying to find an optimal selecting because in getting artifacts, white spots, and general performance lag, thanks.

Not a fan of the "flickering lights" either. Kinda odd of the marvelous surroundings.

I don't have a 6S but i can tell you some of the settings that use the most processing power. these are all in OPTIONS > PLAYGROUND :

Shadows: Low resolution, anything but ultra distance
Resolution: Medium or Low. Changing resolution has a big effect on the frame rate.
    EFFECTS > Reflections off
Grass: Lower the density and distance

I think the white artifacts are either the bloom (OPTIONS > PLAYGROUND > FILTERS > BLOOM) and/or something in the specularity of the rocks (i think it happens with the rocks, am i right?)I'm looking into it and will try to find a fix for the next update.

I agree - they mar the visuals. Im looking into a fix for it, although i think if you turn off OPTIONS > PLAYGROUND > FILTERS > BLOOM it might help. I dont have my ipad with me so i cant confirm that, but i know ive seen it before and i think it happens on the larger screen, although i could be wrong because someone had a problem with in on 6S. Thanks for the compliment about the marvellous surroundings too, and thanks for taking a chance on BrightRidge:)

That's great news!! It's feeding the photographer in me... Within your virtual world! Thanks for thinking of that too. Yeah, I took this screen of me being the dragon, but really wanted to put your logo at the bottom and post it. Bloom with Depth of Field is amazing behind this marvelous creature.

And wow, that tower climb to get the dragon was epic.

It might be in the next update. I have to take a bit more time to decide on a technical issue due to a bug in the Unity software i used to make the game. After ive tested it and made the decision ill be working full on the update again, and will try to finish the mifi support:)
