Haha a beating heart would be great. Yeah, this first happened after I spirit watched the beetle and noticed I was standing right next to him (I originally expected a beetle to be small, like the butterfly). Went back to my human and ended up inside the beetle. No big deal, but it is a bit odd. I think the swimming and underwater creatures may need to be fixed up a bit, too. I'm uploading some video, but at one point I tried to follow a whale and he went through the landscape like he was a ghost. But I couldn't follow and get the true Jonah and the Whale experience. But also, I kept getting sort of stuck underwater. Luckily there's the option to teleport back home, so I wasn't stuck there permanently. And now that I have the dragon form, I could probably just switch to that if I get stuck swimming.
You're awesome BTW pre-pre-preview. IF i am able to make enough form the game to be able to continue making games after BrightRidge, one of the 3 other environments i have planned is the sunny seaside of residi bay. I developed some new technology that was used in part to create the new inn, and if i get the chance youll see a quite populated town using some of my assisted procdeural design - anyways that is for the future BTW here is BrightRidge's location on the world map
iPhone 6s is a great device to play it on. I do however have some strange white glitches no matter what settings I use, I hope you can see that in the screenshot. Nothing big or game breaking but I thought you would like to know
Lol. Thanks. Yea, I created it myself. I've "stuck around" since the VERY early build of the first game. I'm not planning on going anywhere.
Cool! Thats why the options are there, exactly so you ca tailor the experience as you want - more beauty or more fps, or a combo of both m so glad you tried that out. I had to remove the pets button for the moment, Right now the only way to kind of have a pet is to get close to an animal. They will follow you if they are curious, but if you walk too far away they'll go back to there routine. I had added an explicit pets button (its still there its just hidden for now) but i realized it was interfering a bit because i haven't figured out exactly how you would tame an animal to make it you pet. I think once i figure that out i will add back in the pet functionality and the pets cheat button (which overides their personality and forces them to be your friend). It will be back and i will say its really cool so i hope you get to see it. I almost made the wolf your pet by default because it is really cool running around with the wolf by your side.
Thanks for this feedback - it really helpful! yes, switching to a flying form will "pop" you out of the water if you get stuck. You know, im going to do that heart things - its just too funny Gossidan (the whale) still uses the tech from the old game where she basically travels between two waypoints. I mad a note to upgrade her to the other animals ai so she can be more independent.
Thank you - as you may have read this kind of feedback helps a lot Yeah this is due to the bloom on the device - if you disable OPTIONS > PLAYGROUND > EFFECTS > BLOOM they should dissapear. Im experimenting with a new bloom filter that should get rid of these glitches. I will keep you posted A screenshot (mac version) with the new experimental bloom - softer and should eliminate over bright spots
Here's a long video of me exploring and finding a bunch of the animal towers. I didn't play the original, so this is all new for me. Have to say the highlight is being a dragon, even if there isn't that much to do yet besides explore. There simply aren't enough (iOS) games that let you soar as a dragon. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel And I made a separate one of just the dragon. Still messing around with the settings to see how detailed I can go without causing lag. I'm not sure the the iPad Air 2 can handle more than a couple of settings on Ultra. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
Yeah! I love, love, love the photo mode. I spend way too long in real life getting photos right and screenshots of things, using them as wallpaper for my phone or Mac desktop. So, I have been using it a bunch. I'll still take a few screenshots like the attached one so I can have the character in there too.
Here's my current iPhone wallpaper. Might put something similar on my Mac, if I can stand to remove my cats!
Rob, if I may ask, what effects/settings where you running on the environment showcase video you posted before? Can't seem to get that effect going for me.
This Toucharcade app sometimes doesn't post the photos I'm trying to post. Hope it works this time. My current phone wallpaper.
Thanks! And wow. That does look much smoother. Thanks for sharing. I foresee so many more in-game screenshots.
Btw, any chance of adding iCloud? I enjoy playing on my iPad at home, but would still love to be able to open it up on the go without having two separate games going.
Did a little benchmarking, and it seems that the iPad Air 2 can handle every setting on Ultra, the one exception, of course, being shadows, which does well on High. I turned off Bloom, not because of performance reasons, but because it was too overwhelmingly bright. End result looks gorgeous, and the game still runs at a normal pace. Edit: found out the game wasn't displaying at Retina resolution, so I have tt make changes myself.
Oh really? Maybe it was the shadows that slowed mine down, then. Will try lowering that and raising the other settings. Thanks for the tip!
When I raised the resolution, it threw everything out of whack. Buy yeah, other than the listed intensive settings like SSAO and Depth of Field, Shadows has a major impact on performance. Since I put on Retina resolution and the performance started to falter, it seems I have to work with High and go up/down from there.
This is awesome! Thank you Its great to watch you play. Yeah, ULTRA is really there for the next IOS devices, so its pretty laggy or crashy if you choose those settings, depending on your device. Reflections is the big CPU user - theres a bug in unity where you cannot cull the reflections. In the land items that you dont see are not processed so it runs faster. But in the reflections for now it was either show everything or nothing, hopefully Unity will fix this and it will make even the sea reflections run faster
I am definitely going to add the ability to change photo settings when youre inside photo mode, and you motivated me also to try and make the characters available when your taking photos - i think it would be great to be able to take a pic of yourself in nature
