Thanks for checking in guys. BrightRidge has been "In review" since yesterday. usually it takes a few hours or a day or so for them to make their decision My fingers are crossed.
Whats Next? Here's my road map for BrightRidge HD: Update 1.1 Im working in that now. It adds a few new creatures, some new mecanics that will be sueful during the quests, and completely replaces the original terrain with an updated one that gives me more flexibility. you can see it in these screenshots. they're form my Mac but most of what i do for the Mac version makes it into the mobile ones. Things like new paths hrough the forest, a new algorithm for growing vegetation, and new lighting courtesy of Unity's upcoming image effect. There are some issues. BrightRidge was made in Unity 5.2, but i am upgrading to 5.3 so I can release the AppleTV version and take advantage of teh new terrain tech, but there are some bugs and performance issues. I'm also testing BrightRidge in Unity 5.4 which is a beta version. So i will have to decide which project fork i will follow. But unity usually fixes the bugs in the end, so ill likely stick with Unity 5.3 or 5.4, even though it might delay the first update a bit it is worth it because of all the new technology that's available. Update 1.2 Quests This will be the final update - i introduce the storyline - 2 friend who grow up together and seek to protect BrightRidge from a mysterious threat... There's no unprovoked violence in the quests, but here will be some parts where light combat or skillfull jumping and puzzle solving come into play. Ive been writing these with my neighbour (bless his soul) for months and am excited to get them in. I think it will give a framework and "something to do" for people who prefer a more structured game environment Anyways teh app was approved this after noon and i released it, so it should be available soon BrightRidge Upcoming tech - new terrain features and design, lighting and mechanics (Mac screenshots) Here you can see some of the new terrain features - it allows me to make paths and have a more relistic growth of vegetation Im testing a new lighting engine, if t works on mobile it will be included in the next update
The game is online in Canada It should become available in different country stores shortly. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/nimian-legends-brightridge/id1021026309?ls=1&mt=8 Tomorrow it will be sunny and warm, and I'm going to take a walk and lunch with a good friend and have a small drink to celebrate Then it's back to the updates 1.1 and 1.2. Thanks everyone for your support, it's become a real source of comfort to hear from so many people about the game. The negative comments help me fine tune the rough edges, and the good ones make me feel like i have connected on some small level with people, which is what every artist wants, right?
Bought and downloading. Rob, this one's up to you....would you rather we kept the discussion going in this thread, but the link changed to that of BrightRidge HD, or should a new thread be started?
Thank you! Wow, that's a really good question. My instinct says keep with this thread - there's so many wonderful conversations in it, and the only reason i made a second game was technical. It's great to look back and see how things evolved, peoples suggestions, feedback, bug reports, criticisms - they all are a part of the game. BrightRidge is still one place in my heart
Awesome. Lemme see what I can add to the thread title to make it noticeable. EDIT: Does that work? The link's been changed too, but it needs a little time to show up in the appinfo.
Thank you. The title changed and like you said the rest will follow. Its like when i edit the itunes text and then i just sit back and wait for it to appear
Man I think this should have a new game thread but thats just my opinion. Can this get to the top of hot new games or no?
Ok so obviously its flipping gorgeous but I cant imagine if you would of done the terrain / graphics and stuff and had Crescent Moon do all of their adventure stuff like in Aralon Forge and Flame omg.... It would be the most insane open world rpg ever to hit IOS.
Greets from a fellow Canadian. Felt compelled to make my first post for this. I heard of your game when it became free the other day and was intrigued by it. I looked up this thread and ended up reading most of it. I just wanted to say you are one hell of a developer. Very committed and passionate about the craft, and reply with great detail and frequency to the community. Needless to say, I was watching this thread for the announcement of the HD version and was surprised to see it so soon. I bought it right away. I hope you will charge more than just 2 bucks (was more 'cause of our shitty dollar) because you deserve it. One request though, because I was hoping the HD version would have it: an interactive map. At the very least, indicate the player position or even a compass. I find it difficult finding my bearings, never knowing where I am and if I've visited a tower before. Other than that, keep protopopping.
Got the game finally and the game is freaking gorgeous as hell, Rob. Still figuring out tweaks to make the game run fast while maintaining the beauty. And also, I noticed one problem that BrightRidge and Brightridge HD has. You have to redo the settings and graphics settings you've done before. Please fix that, Rob. Also, this is asking too much but, the game lags like hell when I set the resolution to High on my iPad Air. Final question! What the hell am I supposed to do about the wolf that follow's me and is always howling like crazy? Haha
