Go take a look at Protopop's and Josh's profile pages, you can see the chat there. Nothing settled yet, from what I read there. But Josh asked specifically for our good sir here; quoting: "Hey there, just wanted to say hi, and I'm pretty impressed by your work on Nimian legends. I was thinking about someone to collaborate with on Ravensword 3..." Hope I'm not spoiling anything with making it more public, so I'll better shut up now... But yes, "would be awesome" sums it up pretty well
That so cool that you dug that up. I didn't know those conversations were public but I dont think it spoils anything. We just introduced each other and maybe we'll see if we can collaborate in the future, but i am as impressed by his work as most people and its nice to know people would like to see a collaboration. Right now im finishing the last bits on BrightRidge HD and want to get it out asap. BTW off topic, Nimian Legends BrightRidge 1.5.1 update went live yesterday - its a minor fix that lets iPod Touch 6 users have upgraded graphics. If anyone has the game and an iPod 6 it's a good update to have
Fingers crossed for Brightridge HD And here's another one for you, stuff about armour and character design you might find interesting: http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/AnnaJenelius/20150520/243514/Armor_for_Dummies_andor_Game_Developers.php
Man i haven't been on touch arcade in ages !! lol Sup @Nullzone and @Protopop !! I see you're still working hard on your series now that I'm on holiday break i can finally dive into it haha and i see Nullzone is still being da man with his helpfulness . i also saw your convo with Josh with the possible collaboration with RS 3 i think you guys would beast with the graphics of the game easily he is also a fav developer of mine ( although I'm more of a fan with the Aralon series of his has a little bit more depth). Youre pretty good with stories as well/ making worlds so if everything works out you guys could possibly make a game that is not only is beautiful but also deep with meaning and quest and also having a populated world! Ill keep my fingers crossed haha
Nice to see you Kyoshirin I admire Crescent Moon Games achievements too. They really had the first openworld games on IOS and so early on. Im finishing my client work for the holidays and then plan to finish the new HD version of BrightRidge. Im focusing on some last bug fixes but I have been able to add in some new landmarks, clouds you can fly through and time of day options in the last few weeks as well. It should be ready to go in January. Ill send you a code for a free copy when its released Nullzone is a big supporter and I'm grateful for his inspiration New fly through clouds. Windmill Hill taken in photomode with trees off and time of day set to morning
The Treemen look exactly like the ones in a 1960's episode of Casper the Friendly Ghost! Seriously! 'The Treemen are coming! The Treemen are coming!!'
It is I can say that my own loneliness has found its way into the feeling of the game. Shadow of the colossus also had that feeling, with its large scale imposing environments that dwarfed the player. In BrightRidge i like what i have achieved, but future games i would like to get closer to recreating the feeling of scale we see in concept art. I learned a lot about creating environments and scale in this game so i hope i can bring that to future ones as well
Found it It's at about 3:45 Wow i actually vaguely remember this, and also wondering how trees could live in the airless moon (although they are walking trees so...) It also spooked me out I think my treants are gentler creatures, but they are protective of their young and upset at the logging in BrightRidge that has devastated their habitat (as you can see in the fields near the treants with the cut down trees, and the loggers chopping down the last trees in the snow field) At one point you could lead the treant over to the loggers and she would stomp on them - but i removed it because it needed polish. Im sure it will be reintroduced in an update BTW my treant mother is named Bosine - the humans are aggressive towards treants, and if you look on the wall outside the in youll find a reward poster with her name on it.
Sounds awesome ! i would gladly accept a code lol it looks really beautiful I'm just amazed how well you can make your worlds and watching you improve as time goes by is amazing I'm sure you're having a blast creating the world
Wow! You found it!! Had to watch the whole thing! Haven't seen that in 45 years! I remember having nightmares about that as a boy! Long time ago! Think your tree-men are way more awesome, though, gotta say! Trip!
I do enjoy it And i also appreciate the Unity and Touch arcade forums. Getting to see what other people are creating is very inspiring, and hearing the opinions, good and bad, just teach me more. Some of the world design work people are doing today keeps me motivated - i often see a great scene with some wonderful textures and world building, and it might push me to improve a piece of the world. It's interesting to me, writing this, that i talk about the World and not the Game too. I THINK at the end of the day i am trying to add a gaming framework into the experience, but what im really trying to do is create a world, a simulation with enough to it that in some small way it is an actual other place
The part when they bust through the doors - i gotta put that in one of my worlds yeah, i was surprised that i remembered all of that as I watched it. The music, the water on the moon... i dont even know WHEN i saw it but it goes to show you we all have some things, experiences, memories in common, like shared communal experiences that sometimes we don't even remember
Thanks for the compliments! The windmill shot is fantastic. I really like the contrast between the glowing clouds and the shadowed mill. On that "flying through clouds" picture, is that a new UI element I see in the topleft corner?
Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays Nullzone Yeah, the windmill has the trees turned off and the time of day set to sunrise so its in the east, it makes for a dramatic look with the new realtime lighting. I sold 27 copies of BrightRidge today which is a lot more than I usually do - thanks to TouchArcade for promoting my game Yes about the new UI - thats a rough but i am getting ready after the new HD launch to incorporate the time of day into some of the non violent quests. Im playing with the idea of statues around the land that have the symbols for morning, noon, sunset and night. You can see what time of day it is by looking at the sky for sure, but i wanted a way to also show you the time of day symbol so that when you see the statues you will make a connection. I am thinking to add the current time of day symbol into the OPTIONS button since it is just empty space anyways so it adds information to the UI without adding another element. Anyways the final symbols are a lot more cleaned up and the statues are not in this update, but will make an appearance in the long-awaited StoryMode update
Merry xmas, Proto and everyone else, albeit a bit late Storymode? Cheer! And 27 sold today? Really sorry to hear the numbers are so low Despite Brightridge being quite a niche game, I expected more. You'd need to be featured by Apple, to make a serious impact on your sales. Fingers crossed for the HD version!
Just found this: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=279742 . The Firebringer statue at the bottom might be interesting for you, and it's free currently.
Thanks Nullzone! I love 3dfoin - funny enough, his dragon just MIGHT make an appearance in BrightRidge HD. Im just getting off a week being sick and catching up on client work. Ive also been finishing the last bit of BrightRidge - The inn has been rebuilt from the ground up with custom architecture. I was never too happy with the original inn, in part because it was such a heavy model for what it was. the new inn is a lot more interesting to explore with plenty of nooks and crannies, and balconies with great views Ive switched all the textures to Physically Based Shaders for more realism and made final tweaks to the lighting and time of day There are new landmarks and a lot of new detail and effects. Including the return of a very very special landmark that was only i my unreleased games but is a big part of the lore of Nimian. It makes a big change to the landscape, when you arrive just look up and you'll see it With all this done now i am fixing the final items that broke when i migrated to unity 5 - small but tedious things like remaking the "locked shapechanging" icons since ive switched to the new more powerful button system that comes in Unity 5. So almost there. Thanks for your offer to help - im sending you a link to Testflight in your email - as soon as i have the next build uploaded maybe you can give it a try? One more touch - custom made symbols for the 4 times of day - morning, noon, sunset and night. They will play a big part in the quests which will not be in the first update but in the second. Its a lot of work but im so committed to it and really love the design. And of course all of this is part of the nimianlegends.com website which is doing well - its the interactive map of Nimia and im happy that the average time people are spending on it if over half an hour which is a long time to spend on an unknown website Thats cool about my sales being so low - i just love creating the world and i think people are really going to enjoy exploring this HD version. Here's an art dump with more screenshots, including the new time of day icons NOON TIME IS COOLEST WHEN YOURE IN FOREST. THE SUNSIHINE COMES STRAIGHT DOWN AND MAKE EVRY COOL SHADOWS UNDER THE TREES THE NEW PHYSICALLY BASED SHADERS MAKE EVERYTHING REACT MORE BELIEVABLY TO LIGHT BIRGHTRIDGE INN HAS BEEN REBUILT, WITH BEAUTIFUL SLATTED GLASS AND BALCONIES WITH SOME GREAT VIEWS MORNING IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE TIMES. THE WARM GLOW OF THE SUNSHINE REALLY BLOOMS OFF THE VEGETATION - THE WHOLE LAND IS BATHED IN LIGHT
BrightRidge Inn The architecture of the new BrightRidge Inn has a lot more to explore, including a backyard garden that leads down to the river valley below
