Ok, so I thought I'd post some initial impressions: As someone who is not a twitch gamer, let me say two things: 1) it isn't as hard as you might think from the TA video (though when it goes sideways,it does so in a hurry) 2) I had a big, stupid grin on my face the whole time. I've gotten through six levels so far, having started three games. Completing each of these unlocked a new character. There seems to be an uptick in difficulty at about that point as the ranges of some of the enemies increases (or maybe it was just big damage...I got killed a couple of times and wasn't sure how I'd died). Swipe controls are responsive and feel natural. I only had one time where I was trying desperately to swipe and it didn't work, probably because of my desperation.
I have a question: Only your leader gains experience, but if you have a leveled up character that isn't in the lead, are they still the improved version? Edit: Actually, just saw a tooltip that says they do.
Ah man! I'm in the car on the way to my cruise. I was awake for the codes and everything! Not gonna have Internet all week! This woulda been perfect. Damn! How is it guys?
They have IAP, yes, but their games are very playable without it, from what I've seen. There are two currencies in the game, crystals and tokens. The tokens are much more rare, but you do find them in game. The crystals are used to buy upgrades to powerups and can also be used to level characters faster. The tokens are used for retries (which let you retry the current level from the start) and also to net the arena. You can purchase crystals and tokens separately, or in combination. Crystals are found in 1x and 5x forms. You can pay to unlock 10x crystals (much like a gold doubler you would find in many games) but at 5 dollars, it seems a bit pricey to me. This seems like a lot of fun, and I would have been happy to buy it for 2-3 dollars.
I have come close to getting past Dungeon I on two different occasions. I probably could have gotten through it with a defensive boost. Both times, I started to lose guys, then it was a downward spiral.
I'm pumped for this! You can't go wrong with Nimblebit! Also, I'm not sure, but is there some sort of endless mode? Haven't heard anything about one, but it'd definitely be nice!
I think the Arena is basically an endless mode, though don't expect to last too long! This mode is also where guilds compete. I received 40 tokens for participating in the TA guild during the first guild event.
