Not just your opinion, but one shared by quite a few others, on and off TA. Thanks for posting. I mostly enjoy NQ, almost as much as CoS, but Fanboyism doesn't trump facts... although it is fun to watch and laugh at. DBC
Am I the only one that's been trying to play this even since it was released and has yet to do so. The app keeps freezing in place. Everytime I open it, it freezes: I wait at the title screen, it freezes. I click play, it freezes. I click play and walk three steps, it freezes. I'm always obliged to try out a nimblebit game, but may just end up deleted this one.
Maybe try deleting and reinstalling. No issues and enjoy playing it on my iPhone 4S and son did not experience problems playing on iPod 4th gen. Have you recently installed it or updated? Good luck!
Huh, that's weird. It is a bug/glitch on your specific device, I think. I updated to 1.0.2 as well and I can't skip the levels I haven't done yet. It's as it should be on mine, can't skip anymore from the level right before the highest level you've died on.
Did you try the usual steps: kill all apps in the taskbar, and rebooting the device? Be aware, that you'll lose your save if you delete the app as it doesn't have iCloud sync My game freezes 15 seconds when I launch it, and then it's ok. It seems to be a GC related issue. And it's a new bug too, I didn't have it before the update. Come on NB, some bugs to crush for the next update
Thanks for the heads up! I was cleaning GC of friends because of this. In my case, it freezes 4-6 seconds and then it's okay. Finally back to playing Nimble Quest! Btw, it's not free any more ($1)
lol, take that freemium, let's try paymium Did they change the red gem IAP price? Doesn't look like other IAP prices changed
The funny thing is that I just opened pocket planes and the pop-up ad said nimble quest - FREE on the App Store! Even though it had just gone to 99c. Lol
I wonder if they're having the same problems Punch Quest had. Pricing is tricky for games like this that are more niche than Pocket Planes/Frogs and Tiny Tower.
Yeah, apparently, it didn't start very well, at least money wise. I guess they maybe underestimated the niche market aspect. As well as this niche market players were maybe less prone to IAP spending, than say the Tiny Tower crowd (as evidenced in this thread ). Is it the first time a NimbleBit app is not free? At least since a while I guess?
Originally, everything prior to Pocket Frogs started out as paid apps. Scoops, Skyburger, Bluebird, kyper, the textropolis series to name a few.. I think they swung and missed with the $4.99 red gem/doubler. If it was .99 or 1.99, it would have brought a lot more income.
Didn't know that, thks. It's funny because lately they've been huge freemium advocates. Yeah, 4.99 may have been a bit much in the iOs world today (Look at Crabitron at 4.99 that was only downloaded 2000 times!) NQ is clearly worth 5 bucks imho. But I'm not sure I would have bought the red gem immediately though if not for rewarding them for my Pocket planes totally free enjoyment. Also, red gem was a bit hidden at first, and maybe less clear than a basic gem doubler. But it's not their style pushing "IAP in your face" à la Gameloft. And the game is hard for casual players, even for us gamers here, Castle 1 and Depths 1 have been big hurdles at first. Ultimately this kind of niche game has much less earning potential than a basic 'Ville managing game, because it appeals less to casual players who just drop 10 bucks here and there. Tiny Tower was a perfect example of that. For example, they added much more long term strategy and possibilities in Pocket Planes, and I' m pretty sure it didn't make as much for them as TT, while still being successful. I guess they were aware of that, and wanted to make a different game, and have fun doing it. Because Tiny Tower 2 would have been a no brainer for any big company. Respect for that NimbleBit! Now I'm pretty excited about Pocket trains
I'm looking forward to Pocket Trains as well. I just don't know if people will have a problem with it being on rails...
I actually tried that once already. Same results. Running on an iPhone 4S, too. I had the app since its launch, and downloaded every update. @Vic: I'll try waiting 15 seconds, thanks.
I had a really hard time getting into nimble quest and chose not to get the doubler. It's odd because nimblebit is by far my favorite developer on iOS and it really isn't close. This one just didn't get to me the way I hoped that it would. I put a TON of time into PP and TT Been playing iOS since the release of all the other titles. And while most people on this website would be fine with dropping $5 on a doubler, the average iphone game player (person who won't pay for a game ever) would never fathom putting $5 into something they got for free. iOS game pricing is such a difficult thing to get right. But yes, I am most excited about Pocket Trains, I like trains more than planes! I wonder how long it will take for them to put it out.
That's exactly what i thought too. But the twitter update says otherwise. TT and PP were pretty different games. I hope Pocket Trains is more than just a re packaged PP.
