Probably they didn't really like it more than the 4/5 games. They just pretended to like it, to screw with you.
Lovely. I closed the game last night after beating The Depths 1. I launched it today and got the pop-up saying I won 30 coins for placing 11th in the #6 guild. Yay! I went from 89 coins to 119. Then I hit "Play" because that's all you can do from the level select. Then the game crashed. Then I launched it again. Guess what? 89 coins. Guess how pissed I was? 119%. And this is a mere couple days after finally swallowing the $4.99 pill because I thought the developers deserved it.
Seriously? Name one thing wrong with the game. Why shouldn't it get 5/5. Cuz you don't enjoy it? I think it's awesome. It's free besides, so what's the problem?
There's nothing wrong with the game. We are mostly upset because we enjoy the game but are frustrated about all the lost potential, and want there to be more to it. Here are some things that would drastically improve the game (re-post from a while back, with edits and such). I've been playing Nimble Quest for several hours each day since it came out and have gotten reasonably good at it. I did purchase the red gem, which I feel would be worth the cost, if there was more to do with gems. --Some suggestions-- Consumable items: These would be similar to or the same as what randomly drops, only you would be able to purchase 1 or more at a time in the shop and have 1 of them available during game play. Example would be having a potion you could use once at any time. (It would be used up for that round and you would have to buy again). This would also be a natural and perfect gold sink for after all characters are leveled. Would also promote more IAP. Bosses: Random or set. Having even just a few bosses would drastically enhance gameplay and replay value. They could drop a higher gem reward, maybe a chest of all red gems, or drop consumable items. They could also count as more kills so they could give a nice experience boost. This for me would be the number one most desired feature. Achievements: Huge incentive to keep playing, not really sure why these aren't in already! I wish we could know if there are at least working on implementing this. --Minor things-- Off-screen indicator: Maybe an arrow that pops up when an item drops off screen. Lag: This could or could not be considered minor, but when there are too many enemies on screen the game lags and I have died because of this several times. (This could be just because I'm playing on an iPod). I believe there was a statement made that they planned on equipable items but then decided against it. This would be pretty brilliant, but maybe not for this particular game? Hopefully further down the line they change their mind about this. What there is of the game right now is really good. Great graphics, solid gameplay, just wishing there was more.
My obsession with this game is seriously unhealthy. Got a bet going with my mate (which doesn't help), and i've got a seriously addictive personality anyway (people will know that if they've seen me in the pocket planes thread from months gone by). How's everyone doing? The bet I have with my mate is that I have to complete the whole game (well, original 15), and upgrade them all to 3 stars by July 1st. Currently unlocked everybody and got 4 x 3 stars, the rest are 2!
Yeah, the game is basically incomplete. Once I got to Forest 2 I lost motivation to keep playing, because I know it'll all be the same. There's no variety.
Winning 30 coins and having them taken away sucks. I have had my scores simply not register on the Arena twice. Both times i had scored high. But I figured no point feeling bad cause there's always another chance in 48 hours.
I don't take too much stock in any site's reviews since it's really just one person's opinion. I do like this game, but for some reason it bothers me to see a 5/5 when this game owes so much to Call of Snakes, which I don't think was even reviewed by TA. I like the theme in Nimble Quest but in the end it isn't much more than a reskin with IAPs. Anyway, that's just my opinion.
At least they did a play demo of it http://toucharcade.com/2012/07/19/ta-plays-call-of-snakes-a-grid-based-2d-shooter-with-snake-mechanics/ It might bother you for no reason. Seriously, who cares about reviews? You either like the game or you don't. Decide for yourself (using general "you" here). I see reviews as a bit of an orientation for when I am interested in getting a game but not 100% decided. A poor, incomplete orientation at that. And I'm talking about Nintendo games here, which cost $30+. This... is free. You decide for yourself if you will play and invest in IAP or not. I honestly don't understand what all the complaining is about.
What a shame. They came up with a game that has great potential, and then never made the water deep enough to get more than your toes wet. There are SO many things they could have done to flesh this game out, instead it is nothing but GRIND, GRIND, GRIND, GRIND. And for what? What is there to look forward to? More grinding?
Okay, it's getting weird here.. Is it a bug or maybe it's the update version 1.0.2 but actually now I can skip the levels which I didn't beat yet. With the coins I have I manage to get Forest 5! I feel stupid to use the coins to retry the levels.. Is it supposed to be like this? It's no meaning at all if it's like this, you can buy IAP for unlimited tokens and can skip all the way.. But still I'll play this game just for fun and kill my spare times, but now i start to feel annoyed about this.. Even without IAP we can still get many tokens from arena, 30-40 tokens every 3 days then you can use those for skip the quest levels and it will be not challenging at all anymore..
I just looked at the comments on NQ's TA review. Rant: I wish ppl would stop judging games based on what they WISH the game should be instead of what it is. There are plenty of choices in the appstore, if sthg doesn't suit you, no pb, go play sthg else. But it's not fair saying a good game s.cks just because you wish it was sthg else!
Just saying dudes, I posted about this bug 3 pages ago If you fill this form, you'll get your tokens back. http://support.nimblebit.com/customer/portal/emails/new Hope they'll fix this in the next update.
