This game came with one clear essential IAP, the gem doubler. I think of it as the price of the game, charged differently than up-front. Yes, larger arenas could lead to more depth and strategy. My snake does get wiped out pretty fast once it starts to fail in eliminating enemies in a single fly-by.
I see. Can you describe why or how the 50% bullet speed is beneficial? I mean, I find the bulletspeed of boomey is already fast but find it inaccurate and you need to line him up for the kill. I can only go to Depths 2 as the furthest with full buffs. I just unlocked level 3 for Faenal and haven't really tried to grind away with a new lead until I determine who I will level up next. Ember and Blaze makes sense to get to level 3 then. Blaze does attack from behind too right? Gizmo's level 3 has been useful especially in arena when bomb drops do become rare and too much opponent in the screen with massive hp. But only if I get to randomly draw him. I realized that this seems the only case when this ability would be useful, I should have skipped him a bit later and gone with Ember or Blaze first instead to level up to 3. The attack range upgrade for Kishi could also be a good alternative or probably my next to level 3 after Ember. They might come in handy if I wanna hit farther opponents when I'm trying to avoid projectile monsters up close.
Boomey's attack already fast enough, maybe they want it looks like an instant kill as for the sniper usually does. Maybe it'll work for fast opponent like bats n mouse. Actually kishi long range attack will be better for his good attack rate. Yeah blaze n gizmo has almost 360degrees attack area, they can attack their rear, thus they are great on any line of formation , better on middle-end. Sadly blaze's attack has small damage. Ulrich also good to make into 3 stars for his heavy armor+25%+50% armor. mostly die hard. Nice if you want play meelee attacks. Gurzog also good, heavy armour+50%. Will survive more on 3rd levels. Also considering new hero bolas, his ability is +100%armor, +25attack dmg, +50% bullet speed. But his attack is straight line like uther but long range and has an impact like ember but still small damage. Good attack rate. Good hero for support but not that great.
To go trough 3rd levels doesn't necessarily use lead hero 3stars. I got to courtyard 3 and about halfway using gizmo 2stars with support hero 3stars hydra faenel arcane on middle line. Root and freeze quite effective to stop bats n mouse bumping your snake line. And i got lucky with continuous attack speed boost. Besides it's quite a waste using 3stars hero as a lead, the experience will be wasted. Now i'm using ember or gurzog as a lead. Always skip courtyard2 until depths2 to save my formation and obviously got the experience kills. Also skip graveyard3. I find forest3 is easier than depths2. I got lucky passed depths2 and graveyard3.
Actually I got 40 tokens for ranked #11 on TA guild #1, so it should be also top 30 in the #1 guild who get 40 each. Hmm quite generous...
Looks like they changed the token payout, i got 20 for placing 1st in toucharcade2's, i think it was rank 12
I got 30 for being #1 in TA1, which was... somewhere in the top 10. 5th I think. So then 10-30 guilds get 20 tokens for top 30, maybe. I upgraded Boomey to get him a higher hit rate and it worked, he's quite helpful now. I already had Ember at the time, so, sorry I didn't mention it, he's a good choice too for the increased firepower. The current arena is HARD, I barely got 339 and I think that's where I will stick this time.
So even with this update it appears I can only play Nimble Quest if I first log out of GC. I have an iPad 3, latest iOS, and 488 friends. Are other high friend count folk NOT crashing after about 10 seconds on an iPad 3?
Fun fact: you canNOT unlock Bolas by skipping Dungeon 2. You have to play through it. I know I'm not the only one who did or will try it, so I figured I'd share my findings.
Log in GC, Open Nimble Quest, select 'arena', select 'change guild', type the guild you want to join. first you can try type 'toucharcade' or 'toucharcade1' or 'toucharcade2' then wait a while for loading, and you can select 'scoreboard' to see the ranking of your guild in 'all guild' tab. select 'in guild' tab to see your standings in your own guild. you can still freely change guild to observe the current 'all guild' and 'in guild' standings for you to choose the suitable guild for you to staying at the top 10. I'm using iOS and the update available is still version 1.0.1 which just a competitive arena with chosen hero and bug fixes. Do I have to update first then the update version 1.0.2 will show up later? Can I just update it straight to version 1.0.2? And there's complaining about the game crashes after update. Maybe the update 1.0.2 with new hero bolas is still only available for android..
I'm on iOS as well. 1.0.2 was just released today. You should be able to just jump straight to 1.0.2. Maybe kill the App Store app and open it again if it's not showing up.
I updated to 1.0.2 but it still freezes after a few seconds because I have 250+ GC friends. Guess I'll have to give up playing this game...
This game doesn't have a gem doubler. It's wierd that Eli even mentioned in one of the podcasts about getting the gem doubler in this. There is the red gems unlock, but at $5 it seems like a huge ripoff. That's enough to go buy Gemini Rue (a true premium game) and Call of Snakes (the game that was the inspiration to copy ideas from for NQ) Just saying. It's not like this is a $0.99 gem doubler ... instead its just another gem that appears on the field at a lower occurrence than the other gems.
The blue gems worth 5 times green one, so the red gems worthing 10 times is indeed a gem doubler in a relative sense. Punch Quest puncho doubler is $2.99, so while I admit $5 is a quite a high price for a doubler it's not really that ridiculous, considering both PQ and NQ are awesome games. Excuse me for saying this but you seems a little biased toward NQ. You keep calling it ripoff and copycat. CoS' devs even said they considered NQ an evolved version of CoS, even if they were just being nice, that means NQ has indeed done something right here. To be frank, if NQ weren't made, the CoS thread wouldn't get revived. Nimblebit deserves some credits.
Dude, you've played NQ more than me! I purchased the red gem, and you still are way ahead of me in the charts (I maybe played 10 hours since launch). So you played for free without IAP for more than 15/20 hours imho, and unlocked almost evthg, while doing some very good scores. I sincerely hope you had some fun playing it for this long Just saying, no hard feelings, I reckon the game is not perfect, but you've made your argument clear enough in this thread. Rehashing it endlessly makes it weaker rather than stronger And the red gem appears a lot, it amounts to between a coin doubler and tripler (x2.5 imho). Actually I think it's a fun way to add a coin doubler that doesn't just double what you earn, it introduces sthg more in game. It also helps regain health for the lead guy. I see the free game as a demo, and the game with red gem as the full game. You can argue it's pricey at 4.99, but for me, it's worth it. You've been proving it's playable without IAP NimbleBit does IAP balanced friendly to gamers : I've been playing Pocket Planes for almost a year, have a 54 plane slots fleet with over 300 planes, did some of the best scores in the global events, without buying anythg. I gathered more than 120.000 Bux since start by just playing and enjoying the game.
The red gems are a little too pricey IMO, in their current definition they would have worked as .99c IAP on top of a $1.99 game for example. Something stinks just a little bit about the design of their paywall. I like this game, it is a lot of fun and a great overall design. They screwed up going 'freemium' in it's most cancerous form. I won't be the only one not spending a penny to show my indignation. The red gem IAP is way too costly and a bit of an insult.
I think Call Of Snakes has probably only benefited from the revived attention. Yes $5 is pretty steep for a doubler. But those who buy it are essentially subsidising the game for the rest of the people. So it had to be adequately priced I suppose. Suffice to say, if I was still in school, I would be pretty pissed off about any sort of IAP over $.99.
