It seems the next update could bring a new hero.
Bolas is an elemental monk from the eastern planes. He is lightly armored & shoots a spinning blast of energy that explodes on impact.

Kinda looks like Dhalsim shooting laser frisbees.

I suspect it has something to do with their network code. I've found the performance improves when I disable my cellular+wifi.

The reason may be because Nimble Quest makes so many connections, even during gameplay. These include:

    *.amazonaws.com
    api.vungle.com
    applifier.net
    chartboost.com
    data.flurry.com
    everyplay.com
    impact.applifier.com

It's bad enough that scummy developers like Nimblebit decide to spy on us in order to use their apps. But I'm wondering if it also affects performance in this case.

Same. The new system is very poor. I wonder why they keep making the game worse.

I dont really care if a game collects my gameplay data and tracks my actions, while i am inside the game. It's not like it's a system-wide spyware thats reading my emails or key logging passwords.

True. Is there any way to know the extent of what they're tracking?

By the way, is there a way to get rid of ads? If you purchase the red gems or whatever does that get rid of ads? If it doesn't it sure should.

I guess you can ask them directly, maybe a pm for Nimbletim?

I don't find the ads annoying, infact I rarely see them, and when I do they're just ads for Nimblebit's game like Tiny Tower, Pocket Plane or Pocket Frog. It's a free game, ads are the least to worry about.

It's funny that Tiny Tower also crashes more often after I updated it a month ago.

I strongly suspect they are only tracking how many people play, how much they play, how well they do, etc. It is most likely used as a way to gauge how popular an app is. Those connections might actually be made mostly by Game Center rather than NB directly. I base that on the fact that their games work just fine and you can play them offline, you just don't get the GC bit.

Ads are fairly rare, I find, and thus not that annoying. But I did get the red gem and they didn't go away even though I think I read somewhere that once you make any purchase the ads should go away. If that's true, then BUG. Bleh.

Dear nimble bit team, I know we've talked a lot of trash in this forum, but I want to say that you guys have a lot of skills and talent. I for one would love to see you make a premium game where you're not beholden to any IAP stuff. I'd really love to see what you guys could come up with without any of those restrictions.

Well I know for a fact Nimble Quest reports UDID. With others I've found it's possible for an app to retrieve the serial number.

Apple doesn't have any way to disable or override this in stock iOS. Of course, there is other data like location which can be overridden.

Otherwise, they like to gather data on _which_ apps you use and what you do with them. General tracking, analytics/metrics stuff. Flurry is a popular one I see on most apps, and you can read more on their site http://www.flurry.com/flurry-analytics.html

Some of these sites are more obvious than others because they contain strings in the url, but that's the gist of it.

This is painfully incorrect. No, it isn't Game Center. They are specific to the individual app, implemented by the developers, and every one is different. There are a very small minority that have no tracking like Minecraft PE. I base this on the fact that I know a lot of this shit and monitor what software does because I'm obsessive like that.

These metrics sites don't imply that an app will require connectivity. They simply can't be established if it's unavailable. Otherwise they will take advantage to report user data whenever the app is running.

Hmm, I don't really think they can steal my passwords or private datas. As long as they fix the crash bug in the Bolas update I will refrain from calling them "scummy"

Got my 30 coins again. I guess now I'll backup my save and delete the game. If anyone wants a guild that'll get them the coins #ARCANE is solid.

EDIT: Save backedup and game deleted. I'm FREE!

How do you backup a save? Also, you'll never truly be free until you delete that as well LOL
