I don't know but it is taking forever for me and I have the red ruby upgrade. My recommendation is don't even try w/o the red ruby upgrade.

    Hydra Level 3 Skill

Has anyone unlocked Hydra's level 3 skill freeze? I think it would be very good.

I was stuck on Depths 1 but just had an amazing run and beat that as well as the next two levels so I only have 3 characters remaining that are still locked.

I do most of my iOS gaming on my ipad but like to keep one little quick-to-play game on my phone for when I am on the go and this is it right now. Not sure why I keep coming back to it, but I do. Once I hit a paywall though, ill move on.

I think with my level 2 characters with no buffs I manage to get to forest 2 pretty easy and clear around 3000 gems. Three runs tends to take half an hour or so. So 10,000 to upgrade towel 2 is that solid half an hour, so I'd imagine 100,000 would equate to around 5 to 6 hours of solid play. For me that could be 5 days. I have 3 characters left to get to level 2 and still that last one to unlock. I'm hoping an ipdate hits that makes all this grinding worth it.

I've unlocked Hydra's level 3. She seems like a strong character, once fully leveled. Her blue projectile will often kill whoever is struck by it and it will temporarily freeze anyone nearby. I might use her as the leader in my next Arena attempt to see just how good she is in that capacity.

Level 3 Faenel is interesting too. She has as her final upgrade the 'Root on Hit' ability, which it turns out means that when her projectile hits it causes the enemy (and those nearby) to be temporarily ensnared by tree roots from the ground. The effect doesn't seem to last quite as long as Hydra's freeze ability and it also seems a bit weaker as far as how much life it takes from the enemies. It is a faster moving projectile though. I think I prefer Hydra, out of the two. I believe Hydra may also have a greater range.

great info...gizmo's level 3 skill seems pretty cool, the explosion on death. Though I guess it will depend on how large the explosion is.

Love the game but I gotta say it could be less grindy. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if people other than the lead hero got exp?

    1st - 100%,
    2nd - 50%,
    3rd - 40%,
    4th - 30%,
    5th - 20%,
    6th - 10%
    7th - 5%

Unlike a lot of people I seem to find armor on the lead character mostly useless. The lead is the only character able to heal by picking up gems and benefits from shields. I find I rarely die even on lightly armored characters unless I screw up and run into something.

The times where my lead dies from damage tend to be not because I lack armor but I have lost enough other party members that my overall damage cannot keep up with new spawns and I get overwhelmed. More armor on my lead in these situations would not help, only prolong the inevitable. In fact it is almost the opposite where I want more armor on the characters in the train that cannot heal except from a potion.

I am stuck on Courtyard 2 currently with all characters level 2 and 0 level 3s. Anybody have Slash or Bones to level 3 and could comment on who they think is the better upgrade? Also, is Kishi any good?

Found Kishi good but at later lever forest2 etc his power is weak, he can take damage but the lack of dps made me switch to Hydra.

I think the exact same way, so you aren't alone. I could care less about armor since like you mentioned, coins heal and you can acquire shields. It's rare I die because of health on my leader... it's always running into a wall or enemy. Also, you can get out of the way where as the train has to follow your exact steps. More than that though the folks with a ton of armor seem to be less powerful.

Gizmo tends to be my main dude because he has good range, can damage a lot of enemies with one shot and is powerful enough that anyone can with one hit finish off those that survived the bomb blast. Yet he has light armor. I think it's good to have both a strong capable front but also someone in back that can take out any that get close enough to take out party members. Most of the other projectile throwing people, I just don't do as well with because hits often miss. The bomb always does some damage.

    ...

I voted for FFV for GotW. Gotta go for a full game this time around even if other games have more votes. Next week looks like it's going to be a hard one for voting. A lot of good stuff coming out tonight.

Totally agree about projectile throwers. Gizmo's accuracy is way better than the rest, others shoot at enemies with poor anticipation.
Only now found out that picking gems heals the leader, after reading your post.

Unless you pay money the grind is insane. The red gem is not worth the five dollars so don't buy that. Either buy a large packet of gems or just quit playing the game otherwise it's a waste of time. Watch out though because if you buy too many gems you're basically beating the game and there's nothing else to do.
It's a shame because if this game simply had a coin doubler and a bit more depth in the gameplay with quests etc, it would be great. That and make the arena a bigger deal and more transparent. Unfortunately when they went the direction of IAP overload and let that dictate their game design. Maybe I'm just Spoiled after playing ridiculous fishing. It was really nice to play a game designed around gameplay and not draining customers of money slowly.

I mean instead of spending five dollars for red gems that don't even help you that much and you still have to grind away, go spend three dollars on ridiculous fishing and get a full game designed with the player in mind.

Castle is tricky until you understand that you must NOT attack the knights directly. You need to attack them from behind or the side.
Also focus on girl healers asap, or else they'll heal everybody around.

The grind is not that bad, once you get the hang of it. I do 2000 to 5000 a run now, and still have 3 dudes to unlock (got the red gem).

If you have trouble in the early game and don't want to spend for the 4.99 permanent iAP, the 50.000 gems IAP is cheap and you can level up once all your dudes and upgrade almost everything in the shop. It'll be easier then.
If you intend to play a lot, red gem is more worth it as it's a bit better than a gem doubler.
But as grits said, if you buy too many gems and level up all your dudes, you basically kill the enjoyment of progressing in the game.

And I disagree with the grinding taking forever, the game's been out for a week or so and lots of ppl have already leveled up twice their dude without IAP.
I find the progression well dosed. I like that I'm doing slightly better each day.

What would be the point if you could finish in a few hours, then what?

Wait, there's an end to the game? I thought this is endless? Where does it end The Depths 2? Or are you just meaning the only goal in the game is unlocking characters and leveling them up so if you buy the IAP then you're cheating the experience because literally that's the only thing to do in the entire game. Play the same few levels over and over and over to grind for gems and experience... then try to push ahead until all characters are unlocked because that's all there is here.

I'm still stuck at Castle 2, but I'm determined to finish leveling my last few dudes to level 2 before going for it again. Plus I spent all my gold coins on my last attempt and then the stupid guild thing yielded 3 lousy gold coins despite costing more than that to attain a score high enough to be in the top 100.

Anyway, not meaning to be overly negative about the game. Had I not experienced Call of Snakes and all of it's features and other snake games on iOS like Super Snake & Snake Wars (or heck even the classic Snake game on Windows 3.11 back in the day)... I'd probably be happy with the very little this game has to offer. Hopefully the dev pops in here and reveals what new stuff is in the works for this game.
