I know the answer, even though I'm not "official". It's a complex and potentially error-prone feature, that is only important to relatively few people.

I hear yah. It just seems like they cut so much out of this game to make it for the masses and get it to the appstore quick that they forgot to actually have any kind of goals. I'm in the same boat with one character left to unlock. I was going to go for that with the coin earned from the guild but then the guild didn't pay out anything close to expected because of how screwed up the whole system is. Having some achievements or something would have at least given me a purpose to play but once that last character is unlocked I just don't see grinding them all up to level three just so I can play an endless mode. Or is there an end? It just seems like they could have done something better than this.

I can't complain about money spent... the game was given out for free by the dev, but bad game design is bad game design at any cost. Call of Snakes is leagues better than this. The strategy there more complex, there are levels to complete, achievements, online battles, an endless mode, and there is no grinding to level up the characters. Super Snake too is far better than this with Single Player worlds, multiplayer, achievements, multiple control method options, and so on. Just even as snake games go, there's just a lot left to be desired.

If I wasn't such a fan of the genre and especially Call of Snakes, I wouldn't have stuck it out as long as I have. I really want to love this game but I've seen behind the curtain and the Wizard isn't as impressive as when I first walked in the room.

    ....

I changed to another smaller guild. I'll post how that pans out in two days when the current arena battle is over.

You can call it whatever you want, if it doesn't exist, it should be created.

LOL wow, so I was number 40 in the TouchArcade one guild. That's the number one guild in the world and I received A whole 3tokens!

For those that don't know, I was expecting 80 tokens based on the previous tournament.

I guess they decided they were being too generous. Thanks for running the best part of the game.

I should probably just delete this game and stop wasting my time. I'm really disappointed in this company. They have a lot of talent and then squander it on IAP money machines.

So, not only do the people like me who don't participate in the guilds dislike them, but the people who do participate in the guilds also dislike them! Talk about a lose-lose approach.

Funny, I switched to the Nimblebit guild for a better chance of getting a top10 rank, and I did get one. My reward was 30 tokens.

So I think you guys should try to make it to top10 of a small guild. No need to join the biggest and most competitive one.

Not showing the reword amounts is going to piss a lot of people off. I probably sound like a whiny gamer but this is just ridiculous.

I can see their perspective of trying to balance it but for such a big company they really should've figured this out before lunch. Like others have mentioned the arena and other parts of the game feel unfinished or unrealized.

I thought I had found a part of the game I really likedÂ… Competing in the arena. The prizes seemed generous and worth the effort. Then they turn around and screw us without warning.

I burned all of my tokens to get the spot that I did.

Dude that's a 4 people company. Not even sure they have offices lol.

    Yep, that's why I started a TouchArcade1 crew a week ago ;)
the goal was to offer a smaller guild alternative for TA players away from the lurkers, as we did in Pocket Planes.
But making the top10 guild name public makes it impossible.

    Here's what happened:

First event we were 11th guild and maybe 15 players from our Pocket planes crew. The only place were TouchArcade1 it was mentioned was in the PP thread.

Second event I posted in this thread about TA1. Many forum members switched fron TA. And we finished 5th, appearing in the top10 guilds, the number of ppl shot up to like 80.

And the last event, we were #1 pretty soon in the arena. Then everybody seemed to join, there were over 400 players in the guild at least

So I agree, the idea is not to join the biggest guild, but just appearing in the top10 and being high in rank make people join like mad, most of them surely didn't even consult this thread and a lot even don't know what Toucharcade is!

This makes staying in a guild difficult for the long term. :(
Or you got to stay under the radar below #11 rank I guess

    Nimble Quest

Really tight and polished game with a TON of potential.

I've been playing Nimble Quest for several hours each day since it came out and have gotten reasonably ok at it. While playing I am continually thinking of what more it could be.

    --Some suggestions--

Consumable items: These would be similar to or the same as what randomly drops, only you would be able to purchase 1 or more at a time in the shop and have 1 of them available during game play. Example would be having a potion you could use once at any time. (It would be used up for that round and you would have to buy again). This would also be a natural and perfect gold sink for after all characters are leveled. Would also promote more IAP.

Bosses: Random or set. Having even just a few bosses would drastically enhance gameplay and replay value. They could drop a higher gem reward, maybe a chest of all red gems, or drop consumable items. They could also count as more kills so they could give a nice experience boost. This for me would be the number one most desired feature.

Achievements: Huge incentive to keep playing, not really sure why these aren't in already!

    --Minor things--

Off-screen indicator: Maybe an arrow that pops up when an item drops off screen.

Lag: This could or could not be considered minor, but when there are too many enemies on screen the game lags and I have died because of this several times. (This could be just because I'm playing on an iPod). I plan to transfer the game to my Android phone when able, so hopefully it won't lag there, and maybe it doesn't lag on the iPhone.

Unresponsive controls: This doesn't happen too often, but when it does I often die. Sometimes a swipe doesn't register. Could be due to the lag.

I believe there was a statement made that they planned on equipable items but then decided against it. This would be pretty brilliant, but maybe not for this particular game?

Overall really great game. And the graphics are just FLAWLESS. The height of pixel art for sure.

Hope to see some of these things considered!

    Good suggestions.
I thought i must have been imagined it, but the game did lag badly, at least once today, causing me to die.

natefoldan, wow at the first post and good job on all the markup.

I think if they just added a separate "Quest" mode (with levels that have different shape arenas) and converted the current mode to "Endless" and threw in some achievements this game would be epic. As it is though, it's like playing a tech demo for something soon to be released. I love so much about this (art, music, speed of movement) but it all just feels hollow with nothing really to do but unlock characters. Hopefully they'll not be too discouraged and will push through to update with something with a little more mass to it.

    Thank you : )

Agree about the different modes. Just a few things more like that would create such a deeper experience.

    Multiple buffs

Has anyone noticed that you can spend tokens on the same buff repeatedly? I tried this one game, but I couldn't tell whether there was a difference. Can anyone confirm whether using the buffs multiple times helps or whether it is a waste?

Some of us tried this a few pages back after I suggested it. It doesn't seem to affect anything... and I tried 5x overbuffing on the attack speed. So it's a bug in the game.

I guess if they did allow that though it could make it way too easy to progress.

Last thing I'll say about this. I was thinking, since coins are like currency that you can buy that's what really pisses me off. The fact that I spent a ton of coins trying to get a good score in the arena and then got the rug yanked out from under me. So When you charge for currency like that, you have to be sure that the player knows what he's getting into. Otherwise you risk making the player feel like They've been cheated.

So I had a previous best of 763 until I just beat it with a score of 1101! Unfortunetaly, I wasn't logged into GC so not only did it not update my score it actually lowered it to 693!!

At least I unlocked the rest of the heroes.

Cleared the depths with all lvl 1s, Uther leading, and all token buffs except shield. Used tokens to fill-up the party before the depths as well. I'm average or slightly weaker than average at this kind of game, so its very doable.

I think that Uther is a good choice for leader because he has heavy armor, and his attack is good straight or nearly straight on, but not real useful from deep in the pack. The same might be true for the other heavy armor guys don't know. The most important guys are the AOE ranged shooters, the fireballer, the ice shooter and the bomber, but I believe they all have light armor, and they do fine from the middle of the pack.

My strategy was to execute many turns to put the AOE shooters to work to kill stuff as quickly as possible.

    Forest II seemed brutal.
