I usually lead with Uther, because he's so hard to use effectively if he's not in the lead. If I'm not using him, I generally use Slash.
Likewise for me on the bombs, magnets, and chests as well. As for later level godsends? Yeah, tell me about it... I unlocked Ember tonight, so I've a ways to go before hitting the big time, although I think your leveling method is better than mine, so I think I'll adopt it, if you don't mind... I agree on CoS as well. Too early for me to tell, but I'm hoping the idea of progression in NQ is that your characters resemble the snake of old when they are all completely leveled... we'll see... DBC
+ another 1... As for leaders? Whoever I'm trying to level? I am LOVING Ember as leader, and I like Gizmo and Slash as well... DBC
DBC, feel free. It's working our well that way though others here are further along than me though I'm not sure if they IAP'd their advancement with red gems and later area people or did it without IAP like me. When I want to progress I go for Gizmo otherwise who I use is simply who I'm aiming to level up.
Beat Courtyard 2, just Castle 2 to go to get all the characters! I've been uploading my replays from the first time beating Depths 1 on, if anyone's interested, my Everyplay username is the same as here
Managed to get to Courtyard 2 just now, was using Hydra to lead. Still having a blast. I do have a question for NimbleBit are they planning new characters? Would be interesting, thinking frog with swords, maybe a pocket frog. LoL. Must commend NimbleBit again on getting this game so addictingly well done.
Been trying for a few days now and can't progress beyond Courtyard 1. The kinghts always poke my leader unexpectedly. Also, no tokens left. This one's a grinding game from Nimblebit. I doubt it will keep me hooked for much longer. In Tiny Tower i always knew something would be ready and waiting for me every morning. Here there is nothing to manage.
Honestly, I think you're playing wrong. You shouldn't be expending your tokens on regular play. Focus on upgrading powerups (chest first helps) and evenly levelling your characters. Try attacking from behind, or from a range with another leader. Don't charge head on either.
Loving this, I enjoy everyone as a leader, but I'm most successful with Boomey, sniping monsters is terribly fun. I can't believe they didn't implement some other rpg mechanics though. Why didn't they include items of some kind? Like rare artefacts that drop sometimes and have passive effects like extending all magical heroes range or whatever. Alternatively you could buy them, giving you something else to use tokens or gems for. And why no boss battles??? Evading deadly attacks or fast moving bosses while trying to stay close enough to do tons of damage would have been amazing fun, and would have fit in well with existing game play. Finally, I might be overlooking them, but so far no achievements have popped up for me, which also seems like an oversight. So all in all I feel like there are some missed opportunities here.
This game is pretty awesome. It appears as simple levels where you have to wander about, but it has so many levels of strategy you discover by playing. Some tips have already been told by some people, like going along the borders and waiting those 3-4 seconds for the area to be crowded before picking up a bomb or a freeze. Personally I found it useful in tougher and crowded levels, to make your line the curliest possible, keeping all the heroes close to each other. In this way they target the same enemies and even the last in line can attack the enemies that are close to the leader. BTW I've got only Hydra and Castle II to go, all heroes but Merida at level 2 and 125 tokens to spare (even when using 2 for pre-buffs and 1 or 3 for retries, I get plenty of them during the game). Only purchased red gems and been playing like hell.
Flew through that one earlier. I had the Vitality Buff, Attack Buff and all available characters and didn't lose a single one. Died twice on the next level before giving up, though. Those fire shooting guys destroyed me ha.
Ian Marsh of Nimblebits has said the following: "The game originally included even more RPG-like elements, including equippable weapons and much larger levels to explore, but eventually simplicity won out. "Ultimately we decided to boil everything down as much as we could to a casual high-score type of game," says Marsh, "which I think is a much better fit for mobile."
Pretty much done with this game now. Can't get past courtyard 3 no matter who I use or what strategy I use. Unless of course anyone fits any tips for beating it.
Does anyone know what Faenel's level 3 ability (Root on Hit) does? I assume it's temporary paralysis of the enemy, but I don't want to wager 100,000 gems on that bet. Thanks! Got Arcane to level 3 last night, and he's a monster with the double speed power up. Next up is Slash, since Gizmo's level 3 ability is worse than worthless.
Viewing some videos posted by others, root is similar (if not identical) to freeze (I can't remember if rooted enemies can or can't shoot). I can't wait to upgrade arcane!
Nice. Thanks for the quick answer! Also, I meant to say double attack speed power up earlier re: Arcane, not double speed. My bad.
Has anyone heard if there are any achievements coming in future updates? I usually drop $4-5 right away on a new NimbleBit game to support the,, but without achievements it feels incomplete.
Reached the notorious Depth 1 so far. Ember on the other team sure is bad news for me. Help me out? I could suggest NimbleQuest... Well have some quest?! Casual one as they like, similar to jetpack joyride? Bang your head against the wall 15 times, collect mission? Sure that would make grinding fun and tasteful
I used to Slash 2lv to clear Depth 1. My only advice is to rush enemies and dont hide in the corners because all those range enemies will eat your party really fast. Buffs and few hundred retries should do it Also bought red gems IAP today and made 3500 on the first run
