I just beat normal mode.....what an awesome game. I liked the story so much better than ps3's Journey.
Only started the game yesterday. I played well into the third world. Noting remotely challenging thus far puzzle wise. If it changes that'll be great. I'll post something once I reach the end.
Comparison of the very beginning of the game in both normal and void modes: Void mode is a significant step up in difficulty, and as you start that mode with all of the colours already in your possession, the puzzles are also more involved from the outset.
Oh, you'll be posting when you reach the end and get into Void Mode. Actually, I think you'll be posting by the time you reach Spoiler The City , just to remark on the sheer awesomeness of that level. In terms of the challenge... I found the puzzles to be balanced. They weren't so difficult that I was frustrated, but they were hard enough that I felt satisfied once I figured them out. That's the kind of experience I'm looking for. That being said, Void Mode is pushing the challenge up significantly, but I am still not getting frustrated. You really have to piece together your colors (I've had to use three colors in one room and I'm only on Frozen Cliffs) to figure out how to advance and it definitely requires some thought and patience. The puzzles also become multi-tiered, extend from room to room and require a devious amount of trial and error. This is present somewhat in the regular mode, but not nearly as much as in Void Mode. Actually, I would go so far as to say that this game doesn't really begin to start until you get to Void Mode, where figuring out what to do is not half as difficult as actually doing it. I am definitely finding the directional buttons to be too small (playing on a 4S). More specifically, too thin. They are also very low on the screen. This combination has me missing them a lot and dying as a result. This becomes an even bigger issue in Void Mode, for obvious reasons. EDIT: Ok, there is a puzzle on Frozen Cliffs that is so tedious that I am actually surprised that what I have to do is actually what I have to do. If anyone has passed IV then please PM me.
SumoSplash, thanks. That gives me hope as I get further that it'll become more rewarding in the puzzle department.
The puzzle department and the overall difficulty. Both will be increased. However, I can't stress this enough that I am having problems with being able to do what I want to do because of the controls. Specifically, I often have to swipe in the same exact spot where the directional arrows are. When I am in this situation, the swipe does not register. This is becoming increasingly frustrating in Void Mode, since you really have to throw down some serious paint within little amounts of time. The controls are the biggest negative for this game in general and is really my only complaint.
Looking for games like this one! Guys, I had never been into platform games, but this one is so.. ownage! I am looking for platform puzzle games, any suggestion? Thanks
Check out the following... Night Sky Limbo Badland They are similar to Nihilumbra in visual style and in the subgenre of puzzle-platformer. Since they are more similar to Nihilumbra which you really like, it may be a good place for you to start delving into the run-n-jumpy world of platformers.
I just checked their website and Facebook page.I don't think they are going to update the game anymore. It looks like they have moved on.They are currently working on some new project. Also I played both Badland NightSky But I don't have enough credits to get Limbo.Heard a lot about it in the forum.I would love if some could gift me Limbo. Just kidding.Anyway who could seriously gift me a 5$ app!
