I just saw this announcement: http://www.businessinsider.com/iphones-xbox-live-launching-tomorrow-2009-6 It looks very neat and shows a lot of potential. I hope other game developers take note of this and add support for the Plus+ network. I think it will really increase sales for any games which support it. People love building up their public profiles.
This can be fine, XBox live it's a good sample to follow. Anyhow, this already exists, a German company yet have this, his name is Scoreloop and offers the same (profiles, challenges, buddies, global points, facebook ... See here: http://www.scoreloop.com I'm proud to say that one of the first games to have this integrated is my game GeoRain. More info about GeoRain at: http://www.pr2studio.com/georain/
Cloudcell, Plus+, OpenFient...this is really bad to have all these competing platforms. Imagine if every developer for the Xbox used their own community system for their games. We need ONE, count it ONE, platform to connect the community.
In theory this is good. Competition should produce a superior product for the consumer. There will definitely be some growing pains along the way, but once the dust settles, everything should be ok. I would agree with your comparison to Xbox's system, if Apple decided to enter this area....but that would be a whole different situation then.
Based on the quality of all Ngmocos product, i think Plus+ will be the one I'd use most. All devs just need to get together and make a decision on the platform standard. It would help the community so much!
Yes i think Plus+ will easily grow to be the largest gaming network. I think it will see lots of support.
i believe its available in their games so if you have a newly updated version of one of their games you can access it and signup.
Oh, thanks guys. I figured it would be a separate app or a sign up on their website, but now I have to wait until friday to sign up. I really like what ngmoco is doing for and on the iPhone.
I'd really like it to be a seperate app, and have a website portion to it as well. maybe this is coming though. It'd make sense, I think when one of these networks release a dedicated app. It'll put them ahead of the game, get on it!
