And that's really the point, isn't it? Whatever any of us say here, the bottom line is ngmoco would not be doing this if they were not making money. We can vent, but that's about it. The masses have spoken. They will not be educated, any more so than they can be educated that the Spice Girls don't make great music, or that Dan Brown is a below average writer. Oh, and I am reminded of a quote: "Shit tastes great! Billions of flies can't be wrong!"
Hi, Liking a game is not the same as liking the developer, or in this case, the publisher. I stand by my statement above and feel that comments in this thread, on this site, and others back up my statement. I just posted that they have gotten a bad reputation, especially since going to their current structure for publishing their games, it is obvious if one is not wearing blinders and reads the comments with an open mind. My personal opinion of ngmoco is that I do not have one. I have not bought a game from and probably would not in the future, just not seen a game from them I was interested in. Has nothing to do with the way they publish their games, just not seen one I have an interest in playing. To each their own, if you like ngmoco, fine, but do not dismiss the very real fact their reputation has taken a beating since going to their current publishing method. You all have fun now. David
Well I was never too fond of NGMOCO games with the exception of the ROLANDO series. I remember they were one of the first idevice developers (first mentioned on this podcast called Diggnation) who made polished looking apps and it was a pretty revolutionary thing back then. The CEO claimed that they wanted to be the Nintendo of iphone games and they had the potential. Over time I realize that they focused more on marketing and teasing fans for months only to release great looking but forgettable games after only a few days of play (this is in contrast to POPCAP games who make the same style of casual games but have immense replay value) I was never really too fond of NGMOCO's Freemium games because I didn't really think Touchdogs was really all that compelling to play (and I loved Nintendogs for a while because it was awesome teaching them voice command tricks) and every time I played Eliminate it was only at home and would always rather play an console or PC FPS for online matches instead. I think Werule is a step in the right direction but NGMOCO isn't there yet. It's supposed to be a Farmville inspired game but you can't even talk to your friends or trade items to advance your kingdom further. Right now it's a really shallow treadmill game and I'm predicting that people will get bored of this game around level 20ish (it's actually making me want to play the new Harvest Moon DS game right now) and stop playing altogether. I'm not too sure about the future of NGMOCO right now and it's really too bad.
Siggy Worth! I hope hand circus is not under a contract for the Rolando series... tht'd be way too stupid & wht I think about them is in da siggy too 2 The DLC will surely crub piracy, however it does not mean that someone like SGN or not good moco will Rob us for having a virtual toy, farm, plane, a gun, or some energy cells
Don't make the admins bite the hand that feeds this site. But really, the bias towards ngmoco is just so obvious, it took a lot of the credibility off TA. To deny it is similar to denying flies loving shit. It can't be helped, that's just how the system work. If not, you wouldn't have TA report on every single fart that Mr Neil Young makes. Sometimes multiple times per day just like the freeverse sellout. That really pisses a lot of people off. Really, 4 frontpage articles about the same thing on the same day? PocketGamer is no better too. They even have to write an article about Mr Neil Young's plan to go to GDC. WTF?
I don't live with videogames. They're not the priority in my life. If I even honestly think what I've just written, it wouldn't be that "lol". I understand ngmoco did a great job to promote the game, but I don't think it would be a great problem for Hand Circus to make a lot of money with a sequel of Rolando now. Unfortunately I can't unveil the details, but I found people at ngmoco to be very arrogant and money-centric. I had the chance to see how they take decisions and I have to say I was pretty disappointed. I can say the exact contary of Freeverse, and that's why I'm worried for the recent purchase of ngmoco. Hope they'll remain as genuine as they were before.
"Vibe?" You mean like, if you're standing in a forest, surrounded by a pack of wolves, with teeth bared, licking their lips, and like, one of them puts on a bib and gets out the utensils, you get a "vibe" they're looking to eat you?
No, its more like when I'm underwater surrounded by giant glowing mushrooms, with small creatures running around me, and then a unicorn comes out of nowhere and I ride it to Zimbabwe and when we get there it looks at me with bedroom eyes. That vibe.
the pricing scheme is fail, but did ngmoco tell us to buy their credit to play more games? not right!! its just depend on you how you can wait to recharge your armor!! and without eliminate pro online 3D fps would not be evolve like gameloft do with nova!! all developer are good and we dont have to bash all of them because you just hate the control, pricing, graphics right? because of them idevice would not be this good sorry for my grammar......エゴ が そんあに!! うまいからさ
no way ngmoco is getting screwed by this .. as a matter of fact they are screwing most us .. particular their fan .. I'm not their fan .. good for me ..
lol geez! funny... ngmoco isnt screwed. they make money. and lots of it. they are only releasing more great games. the company is only growing. these are facts. not an opinion from some angry kid who "thinks" they know how to run a multi million dollar gaming company. ngmoco knows how to keep iphone gamers comming back for more. and how to keep the life in there games longer. to add... people are ONLY angry because they LOVE there games. they are argry because they cant play them as freely as they wish they could. ngmoco doesnt target the gamer who sits down for an hour with there iphone to play games. if anyone is screwing anyone over, its the idevice users who "steal" games. making quailty games isnt cheap.. people make a living doing this.... the gaming industry must adapt to the market. the money lost to piracy is massive. all that money that would normaly go towards better development is gone to waste. that money will eventually need to come from somewhere to remain competitive.
I'm not angry at NGMOCO because I love their games .. I'm just worried that other developer might follow NGMOCO ignorant attitude, thus might impact appstore as a whole .. and might impact ipod position as a reliable mobile game device ..
