Wait, Freeverse I just had a great idea! Instead of letting ngmoco buy you for 25 million, let them take control of you for free. However produce games very slowly and make them pay a 1 million dollar fee for a week of quicker production. Its a great business model!

When did ngmoco suddenly become a bad company? I still like them. I guess the freemium thing reaaaaallllly pissed a lot of guys off.

Basically. iDevice devs such as ngmoco are becoming the Time Warner Cables of mobile gaming :)

I actually wouldn't mind this at all if, and only if, there was a 100% guarantee that none of the parties involved's games and products would not get worse and would stay the same or preferably, better.

Freeverse is still going to work independently from ngmoco, with its own studio and such but will now have to conform to a free pricetag. ngmoco is pulling the appstore down with it's freemium games. I mean sure, big companies like EA, Activision, Ubisoft, etc. have started targeting the App Store as an actual contender but with all the games that Freeverse and ngmoco have developed and their popularity and success, the $0.99/Free thinking will become even more popular.

As long as their quality stays the same, and it doesn't affect the App Store market except in a good way (well, my way and thinking to be honest), then I'm fine with it. The latter seems unlikely though.

And the first point? (from the front page)
I'm starting to have doubts as well. 20 new games? From both? I don't know how big of a team each has but it seems like a big much. ngmoco used to be a company that I loved and enjoyed and respected. Now, not so much.

    lol

    Yes, it did.
In my opinion, the only good thing that came from ngmoco was the Rolando series. But ngmoco didn't actually develop it, all they did is publish it.
However having said that, I am looking forward to GodFinger. I just hope that it isn't crippled by the DLC.

$25 million was not the purchase price. The purchase price was not leaked, so no one knows,

WOAH! whadda waste...I love the fremium model! You can play a game (an AWESOME GAME) completely for free! no ads, nothing! I dont need stinkin energy cells, cuz guess what, after 1 month, buying that 'needed' DLC, will do nothing

Don't blame Freeverse, they did nothing wrong. Don't protest by deleting an amazing game, what will that accomplish?

From what I'm understanding, like in Eliminate, for God Finger you use your 'awe points' to do things like terraform, build structures, stuff like that, and doing certain things earns you more points, but somewhat slowly. You can buy more awe points to let you do things quicker, is that correct? If so, I'm not too bothered by that, at least God Finger seems like a game I wouldn't want to rush through, or have time to sit around and play it for more than a few minutes, really.

That sort of 'freemium' model doesn't bother me too much, they won't be getting any money from me so that sucks for them, but I guess that's the tradeoff with freemium.

What I would hate to see though, in Freeverse games like Skee-Ball, would be where you can play as much as you want, but you slowly earn the ability to score more tickets, or you can buy a number of rounds that will allow you to earn tickets. When you're out of throws, you slowly will automatically earn more, or you can buy more up front. One of the major incentives to keep playing that game is to earn more tickets to buy the funny prizes, if that got switched off and you had to pay to keep earning tickets, that would be a gamebreaker for me. Not saying it'll happen to Skee-Ball, but that sort of model on a fairly simple game would cause me to not even bother downloading it at all.

Guess I'm the only one who is excited. Whether or not you like ngmoco's new model (which I do- level 56 in Eliminate, tons of hours and max level in TP:D without spending a dime) I feel that the social element ngmoco can add to their games is VERY exciting.

What I hated the most about these Freemium models that moneymco believed in so much is the NEED FOR A PERSISTENT CONNECTION! It takes away the portability of these handheld games.
