concerning the graphics in RR the dev said that he had problems getting the screenshots from his ipod to computer for some reason, he also said the game is looking better than ever

and yeah we dont know that there will be updates for RR but judging on previous games such as flight control or watever we can give this dev the benefit of the doubt, meanwhile EA has never updated its games so we can assume NFS will be the same

Ea does update its games, but its to fix bugs. And its done that with all of its games with reported bugs. But they also put out complete games, unlike many indie devs.

what i meant by update was add to the gameplay, besides rr will probably be firemint's #1 selling game so theyd be stupid not to update it, meanwhile EA has about 5 other games coming out that they have to focus on, including 2 nfs games for the consoles which will prob be ported to iphone

im not saying need for speed is a bad game, im prob gonna get it... its just RR will most likely be a long term investment, for example i got fastlane street racing and couldnt stand the controls.... but because they updated it now u can actually play and have fun and i play it every day =)

But! NFS might not need any updates, it might have everything they wanted. But i see what you are saying as well. ;)

And just as a side note, Fastlane was my most disappointing purchase to date, even with the update :(

Yeah, many indie devs always sell incomplete games and put the future updates in jeopardy 'based on sales'.

Oh, dont get me wrong, with better graphics/audio and controls i would enjoy it just fine... but it really just ruined it for me. Reminds me a little of project gotham for xbx 1, track-wise, and i loved that game.

ya i have to admit the audio was a little off and the graphics r nothing special, the controls r fine though its more of a ridge racer type game.. u need to drift

Really? I'm the opposite. I guess its just personal taste though. I find arcade racers seem to lack the depth and challenge that a good sim has. Most arcade racers are fun, granted, but seem way to easy. Even NFS on iPhone seems very simplified - no accelerator/brakes, possibly assisted steering etc.

A good sim racer rewards skill, knowledge and patience. The driver of a real car has to know the track perfectly and when to brake for each corner on that track in order to win. I've spent hours in GT4 learning breaking points for corners on a track so I could nail some fastest laps - and Real Racing will even let me upload that replay to Youtube! The online stuff in Real Racing really sounds great...:D

Firemint said this was due to their level of detail system not working correctly at that time. The idea is that the as cars get further away from you they have less polygons/texture detail compared to closer ones. I'm sure this will be fixed when it launches.

See, it's stuff like this that turns me off, I remember doing the Traffic License tests in GT3. Sold it and got Capcom vs SNK2. I love a good challenge but not for doing something so banal and tedious. It's not about hating anything not zooming at 500 mph in a dumb straight line, but I'm not going through a game where you have to treat your souped up ride like a damn tugboat just so you don't fly off into the grass.

I mean, this is a phone when all is said and done. I truly hope Firemint didn't go overboard with the sim part! :(

DEFINATELY Need For Speed for me... no contest!!!

I really can't get into sim based racing games, they just seem so dull. I don't care about statistics in a game like this... I just want to get into the car and go all out!

I don't really know the ins and outs of RR but it just appears to be a constant run of curcuit based races and I really don't get the whole buzz about getting an in car view... so what?

For me personally, it's all about having fun and I just really can't see myself having much of it with RR.

    NFS FTW!!!

Wow, this sure evened up once I posted those videos! Don't get me wrong I'm probably gonna get both. :)

What do you guys think of the current racing gamers on the iPhone - your Asphalt 4, Fastlane, Ferarri GT and whatnot?

Edit: it looks pretty official now: Need For Speed Underground will beat Real Racing to the Appstore, by at least a couple weeks.

Asphalt 4 I absolutely hate, it's one of those games I regret purchasing. I don't like the controls to be honest and the graphics pale in comparrison to more recent efforts (though to be fair, it was released a while ago).

Fastlane I like! I wasn't to keen when it was first released because it was far to hard, but the update definately made it a lot more enjoyable. Saying that, I haven't gone back to it for some time and NFS will likely keep it that way.

Ferrari GT is my favourite of the three... lots of cars, not a massive amount of tracks but they we're nicely varied and the controls seemed to work well IMO. You can probably guess that I'm more into 'street' racers than race track one's, which is why it won't come as a surprise the the Ferrari test track is the only one in this game I don't like.

And to round off tho other I have:

    1. SXL Supercross: Great game, just wish there were some outdoor tracks like those in ExciteBike 64.
    2. Days of Thunder: Nice idea, just a little boring for my liking.
    3. Cro-Mag: Actually don't mind this to be perfectly honest.
    4. Raging Thunder: Haven't played this one much, but it didn't hold my interest for very long.
    5. SlotZ Racer: I guess I just wasn't too keen on having such little control over the vehicle.
    6. Motochaser: Impulse buy because it looked okay. I didn't mind it too much but it seemed very basic.
    7. Crash Nitro Kart: Crash Nitro Kart: The less said about this one the better... absolutely hate this (even more then Asphalt 4).

I'm going for need for speed because it has always been my favourite racing game. I will probley end up geting real racing to but I'll buy need for speed first. And other racing games so far I liked ashphalt, ferrari gt, supercross, raging thunder and slotz. Days of thunder and motochasers are ok. I didn't like fastlane at all

I'd probably get both because I absolutely adore racing games. I thought Asphalt 4 was not too bad but the graphics are just alright.

See, i totally understand this, i know what you're talking about. But this is exactly why i love the NFS series. When racing with other experienced gamers, its a bloodbath, and you do have to know the track perfectly. It gets your adrenaline pumping, and the flashy graphics of an arcade racer just add to that, it makes everything seem that much more badass ;)

IMO, i see the NFS as a cross between a sim and an arcade racer, because of the reasons above. I mean, if youve played any other console racers (or F&F on iphone), you know theres a difference.
