I was at the Patriots game it was crazy. Not being able to convert on 4th & 2 killed us, but I think it was a good coaching decision to go for it. The odds were for us to get two yards, it just didn't work out that time though. Those two yards could have very well ended the game if we converted so it was a pretty good risk to take. Besides if New England had punted Manning would have gotten it at about the 35 with two minutes left, so Indy would have probably scored anyway.
really? You play the odds and punt the ball. What's the message you send your defense? They didn't pick up two yards on 3 and 2. You have the punt the ball. Any 12 year old Madden gamer knows that. What I didn't get was throwing it to Kevin Faulk? You have a fast strong possesion reciever and a future Hall of Fame WR. Also, the two wasted timeouts killed them. If they reviewed it, I think they would get the first down.
They shouldn't have passed it they should have ran it but it was definitely a good decision to at least go for it. Converting that 4th down potentially meant game over, punting meant giving Manning the ball to get ~70 yards during a two minute drill. Easily doable for the Colts. Because of this, it would be an Indy touchdown if they punted or an Indy touchdown if they didn't convert. They mine as well take their chances against a defense that was doing less than stellar. Walking out of that stadium was horrible. You wouldn't believe the crap I took afterward on the street because I had a Patriots jersey on. That was the best attendance in Colts' history and boy was it loud. It was an amazing game, I just wish it had a different ending. Oh well we'll get the win when it matters in January.
It will. Patriots have to go undefeated and Colts lose four to win homefield advantage. No way going for it is a better call then punting. You HAVE to trust YOUR very own defense. Honestly, even if your a crappy defense you have to take the chance. Your a Patriots fan and are blind to the fact that Jesus Bilicheck made a bad call
If you don't think the Colts could have easily marched 70 yards down the field in two minutes with one maybe two timeouts I forget and with the crowd and momentum on their side then there's nothing more to say.
I do not care what overpaid, sports announcers say, it was a horrible call. You have to trust and assume your defense will get the stop/interception which they already did 9 times earlier in the game. BB is a defensive minded coach no?
Actually most announcers agree with you that it was a bad call. The numbers worldcup is referring to is a poll that was on espn.com where the people voted on it. Yes Belichick is a defensive minded coach but I truly believe it was the right decision to go for it and most of the time New England would have gotten those yards, they just didn't get it this one time when it really mattered. It doesn't really matter they lost and we can't take it back. I'm just looking ahead to the playoffs where we'll hopefully get a chance to play them again.
Actually, it wasn't. The number were 79% to 80% chances at winning from each decision based upon some supposed algorithm. But, I am not sure of the validity, just being the messenger boy.
What ever happened to this thread? Looks like its gonna break down as. AFC: 1. Pats 2. Steelers 3/4. Colts/Chiefs 5/6. Jets/Ravens NFC: 1. Falcons 2. Bears 3. Eagles 4. Rams(yuck, could be seahawks or niners) 5. Saints 6. Giants or Packers(I don't want to call it, it all depends on this weeks game)
I know it man, I am fired up. Can't believe the Chiefs made it to. Looks like its gonna break down as. AFC: 1. Pats 2. Steelers 3/4. Colts or Jags/Chiefs 5/6. Jets/Ravens NFC: 1. Falcons 2. Bears 3. Eagles 4. Rams(yuck, could be seahawks) 5. Saints or Bucs 6. Packers Really only Four variables 1. If colts beat titans, they win division. If they lose and Jacksonville loses, colts win division. If they lose, and Jacksonville wins, Jacksonville wins division. 2. Whoever wins the Rams vs. Seahawks 3. If Falcons beat Saints then falcons clinch homefield and division, if falcons lose, and lose in week 17 and saints in week 17, saints win division. Any other result gives the falcons division 4. If falcons beat saints, and Bucs beats saints in week 17, Bucs make playoffs
Who seriously thinks they can beat the Patriots? I can see Philly in the Super Bowl putting up a challenge but other than that, no chance.
Pats are definitely solid, as much as I would love to see Philly in the superbowl, I wouldn't be surprised if the pacs made it.
Packers might not even make the playoffs, but I'm rooting for them against the Bears. I just don't want the Saints, Jets, or Bears to win the Super Bowl. I don't like any of those teams.
