The Niners did pretty well, but they didn't manage the clock in those last 5 minutes. To have the ball twice and wind up with 2 "3 and outs" really speaks to that. The conservative play calling came back to bite them. The blame goes to the play calling and the coaching staff.

Reeaaallllyyyyy long...sorry about any astericks, I did not add them.
    Colts vs. Patriots
The last time these two team met was November 2nd of last year, where the Colts took it, 18-15. Much as changed in a year, as the Patriots have Tom Brady back and the Colts are going to be playing without Tony Dungy, Anthony Gonzalez, and Marvin Harrison. The last time, Peyton Manning played Tom Brady, it was Brady who prevailed 24-21, to keep their undefeated season alive in 2007. The Patriots and Colts have played 9 times since 2003 including three playoff matchups. The odd makers have the Colts by one, but since the game is in Indy, you get an automatic 3 point spread, which means if this game was played on a neutral location, the Patriots would be favored by 2. The Patriots come into this game with a 6-2 record and the lead in their division, and are looking to spoil the Colts perfect season. *The Colts have won 4 of the last 5 but the Patriots have dominated the series, 44-28. This marks, Peyton Mannings 18th career appearance against the Patriots. Indy and the Pats are the only teams to win at least 70 percent of their games since 2001. Manning has thrown for 300 yards in the past 7 of 8 games this season, putting in prime consideration for MVP. With Anthony Gonzalez out with a knee injury, and Marvin Harrison let go, Manning has made Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon come onto the radar. Donald Brown is back from his injury and will split carries with Joseph Addai but both have been largely ineffective this year. Tom Brady struggled in the beggining of the year but began to find his groove after his 59-0 pounding of the Tenessee Titans. Both teams have improved defenses, fantastic QBs, medicore run games, and fantastic special teams. The Patriots come into this came with an elite pass defense but that has been largely effected by the top Top QBs they have faced have been Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco. Look for this to come down to the wire, and watch the time of possesion, turnover, and third down conversion rate as those are the keys to decide who will win this game. Colts have not lost at home in 21 straight and have not lost at all in 17 straight.*
Things to Watch: Randy Moss vs. Colts secondary-The last time the Pats played against a team starting two rookie cornerbacks, the Patriots won 59-0.*
Colts fans vs. entire Patriots team- Lucas Oil Stadium is usually a tough place to play and the Patriots have yet to win a road game in America this year. (They beat Tampa Bay in London)*
Jim Caldwell vs. Bill Belichick- "Its going to be different looking across the field and not seeing Tony," Bill Belichick said. So it will be. This is the first game between Belichick and Jim Caldwell and should be interesting to see how this chess match unfolds.
Dallas Clark vs. Patriots Defense- Dallas Clark is more of a WR then a TE and is one of the elite TE in the game
Dwight Freeney vs. Sebastin Vollmur-If Matt Light cannot go in this game then it leaves Dwight Freeney on Vollmur. If Freeney generates a consisent pass rush then it could be a frustrating day for Tom Brady. **
    Injurys: Colts
    Anthony Gonzalez-WR-Out
    Kevin Hayden-DB-Out*
Adam Vinitari-K-Out-Matt Stover will fil in
Jim Sorgi-QB-Questionable-Curtis Painter will serve as the Backup QB in case Sorgi cannot go.*
Donald Brown will play this week
    Fred Taylor-RB-Out
    Jarvis Green- DE- Out
    Matt Light-OL-Doubtful
    Brandon Meriweather-S-Questionable

Colts have had the easiest schedule I've ever seen. They haven't played anybody good yet but that's about to change tonight.

    Patriots get the win.

Nice breakdown of stats for tonight's Colts-Patriots game. I'm really looking forward to it. Of course being in NE means I'm rooting for the Pats as well. I expect the game to be very tension filled with lots of amazing offensive and defensive plays on both sides, making for a nail-biter all the way into the final minutes of the 4th quarter.

No matter what happens, it'll be fun to watch :D

Pats will take it, but only because Indy's so short-handed right now.

I am so glad Colts pulled it through. Insane. That was one of the worst coaching choices ever. He gave the game away.

You and me both! When they went for it on 4th down all I could do is shake my head. Once the ball was handed to Peyton they should have simply LET THEM SCORE IMMEDIATELY, it was inevitable at that point. At least then they could've had maybe 1:30 to make it back to field goal range and steal the win. But no, they put up a fight. 13 seconds with no timeouts is pretty much a no-win scenario, even for Brady... :p

Enjoy the victory Colts, you earned it, we'll meet again ;)

I'm so glad the Colts won, I'm not a huge fan of the Patriots. In my opinion, Patriots are good but too overrated.

I am a Steelers fan though, and I cannot believe they lost to the Bengals again. I have yet to see the Bengals play, but if they can beat the Steelers twice, they must be good. I remember last year they were horrible.

Carson Palmer is heathly, Cedric Benson and Chad Ochosinco are producing and the defense is finally doing something. Still think Steelers snatch the wildcards along with Houston.
