I'm very curious about a new Ipod Touch myself I'll probably watch the keynote when it's available but at the minute I'm occasionally glancing at engadgets live blog of it.
Doesn't look like there is a new Ipod Touch after all they announced is they are bringing out a white one and how IOS 5 was a good upgrade. They are onto the Iphone 4s now and how it has the same A5 chip as the Ipad2. Pretty disappointing if that is all.
Damn, no new iPod Touch? Going to get an iPhone 4GS/iPhone 5 next fall then. Will hold onto my current phone and 4th gen. iPod for another year.
Probably the best thing announced about iOS 5 is that it will allow updates via Wi-Fi. I despise the iTunes application and haven't been able to synch properly at all in over a year. The last time I even used my connection to the PC was upgrading to 4.2.1 and had to do a full restore. It was a major pain having to redownload games and lose all my saves. This is great, but I'm assuming that we won't be able to upgrade to iOS 5 itself without going through iTunes. So now I'll have to debate again whether I want to do a full restore again (which hopefully would be the last time I'd ever have to do it). EDIT: Nevermind. Just read that it won't be supported on 2nd Gen. Although there's more and more games coming out that require 3GS and above, I have a feeling that iOS 5 may eventually result in the complete death of games supported on 2G. Someday I gotta upgrade my relic.
I think the Galaxy wifi player is what I'll move to once my battery starts to go I think Apple have really dropped the ball. I'm actually thinking of not upgrading to IOS 5 I don't want it randomly uploading and downloading constantly and I don't really see any benifit to it unless you own multiple devices you want synced. I'll wait until I know more before deciding but I really don't like the idea of it updating apps etc by itself there are times I might not want an App to update.
My concern wasn't app updates. I already update apps directly on my iPod Touch. This sounded good because it would allow iOS version updates without having to sync with your PC. But it's moot anyway since I won't be able to get it.
So no new Touch, huh? That's alright, I was wondering when I was gonna have to switch to a new PMP with better audio quality anyway.
poor show? no better cam? no better battery? no better CPU? The touch has beed burried?! Poor Tim, first Keynote with this amazing, incredible, fantastic, gorgeous improvements on all mobile devices so innovate...
It's too bad, I really was hoping the iPod Touch was going to at least get a processor and memory upgrade since it's more of an "entertainment" device, why not upgrade those aspects so it becomes the best in that category. I'm surprised they even bothered showing anything about it since the only thing I noticed that was new was a new color. Oh well, that saves me at least $300 since an iPhone is out of the question for me.
I hope that is the case, as I had been holding out replacing my 3rd gen till the next upgrade... I like my ipod touch. I don't want to have to get an iPhone or iPad!
Going to be getting a Vita then! 3DS, 4th gen. iPod, iPad 2, and a Vita as well in the near future..portable gaming for the win. Definitely getting an iPhone next fall though so I can stop juggling three devices around: phone, iPod, Nano.
