Took them long enough But am I right to assume that it has something to do with Steve stepping from CEO to Chairman?
im gonna probs wait for the ipod touch 6. might (prolly not) convince my parents to get a iphone by then. who knows? people in my school have really all started to get iphones and stuff now.
It's going to look almost exactly like the iPhone 4, according to the rumor mill. I'm thinking thats the most accurate of the rumors circulating.
If the rumours about it are right while it is a decent upgrade it's already behind the latest bunch of android phones and I think it is going to be looking very dated in six months. Also I don't like the sound of the assistant thing at all maybe it's just my Northern Irish accent but I've never had any real luck with voice control it always plays something else although the google voice app seems to understand me ok. Maybe when they announce it they will throw in a few surprises but right now the only good thing is the A5 which is nice and everything but Samsung have already announced 2ghz cpus in upcoming phones.
There's one thing I never really understood. Whats the point of claiming a dual core multi ghz super duper fast android phone with Gbs of RAM when I have yet to see a single game which looks better than the "dated" iPhone 4. And if its not games, what else is the use of those super fast specs? Other than, maybe... Flash? I dont know about others but I think I should have missed flash atleast once in the last 4 years of using iOS, dont you think?
My guess is multitasking will eat up as much RAM as you can throw at it particularly when you're running an interface that already has a bunch of widgets open all the time. Also consider the fact that android isn't optimized to run on every single phone that comes out, I'm sure that extra processing power comes in handy just making sure everything runs smoothly. It doesn't really matter how it's utilized purely from a specs standpoint if the next iPhone is running a slower processor with less RAM on a smaller screen with a lower megapixel camera then the newest Andriod phones that's going to hurt sales but I doubt to a significant amount. People will buy it just because it's an iPhone, it could be a block of wood with an Apple logo on it and people would still flock in droves to buy one. All I really care about at this point is a 64GB model but if they don't release one with a larger screen this time around I will be disappointed.
iOS multi tasking works more than fine for me. Only thing I can think of is if third party apps could check/download/update stuff in the background (so when I open byline, I dont need to wait 2 minutes for it to update my rss feeds). Other than that, absolutely nothing I'd want to keep running in the background. I'm using a cheapo android phone right now (iPhone takes too long to launch here and is way too costly to shell out for it 11 months after the US launch). And I havent installed any widgets. Didnt find anything which I needed (or even wanted) to have on my main screen 24x7. So basically its using up the extra power for features I (personally) dont even care about. So it needs the extra power just make sure it runs as well as the half as powerful iDevice. So I really doubt that androids having better specs on paper will make a real dent in iPhone sales. Android has been selling really well and it'll continue to sell well but not coz of better hardware than an iPhone. Only coz not everyone wants iPhone/iOS (limited choice/higher price for apple's offering) and android is the next best option.
Some people want android but I think the real reason it's doing so well is widespread availability and price. I get ads in the mail all the time from AT&T offering free android phones with a two year smartphone plan. Also they're really starting to drive down the prices in the tablet market. I've already seen a number of android tablets in the $280-320 range and Amazon just announced the android powered Kindle Fire for $200. At that price I'm seriously thinking about picking one up even though I already have an iPad.
I'm eyeing the new kindle touch (3G) myself I want e ink and I was planning on buying a kindle earlier in the month I'm glad I didn't now. It's going to be an expensive year for me in mobile tech I'm planning on getting all of the following Kindle, Vita, possibly the new Ipod Touch if I think it's worth the upgrade and also if the contracts are reasonable I'm going to get a Samsung Note as my phone. My only doubt is if the new Ipod will be worthy or even needed if I get the Note I think it has plenty of battery to work as my music player too which is rare in a phone. Knowing me though I'll change my mind and start aiming for other devices when their announced I have a craving for the next big thing.
Well at the very least you won't have to worry about the Vita unless you plan on importing it. I actually did that with the PSP and I still don't regret it, that thing was an amazing piece of tech back in 2004.
Do we know they are announcing a new iPhone? It could be just about iOS 5. Which would be fine by me as I won't be up for an upgrade yet anyway.
about 5 more days to go! Hope it'll be good! Not so sure if I want it to be bigger though.. Not gonna be easy to fit into pockets, but it'll be good for watching movies for the lovers.
So far Apple has pretty much gone with the size guidelines established by Palm when they were developing the first Palm Pilot, that it has to be small enough to fit in a shirt pocket. If you think about it, a standard sized wallet is wider then an iPhone. There's no reason why a device with a 4" screen wouldn't fit in most people's pants pockets. If that weren't the case Android phone manufacturers wouldn't be producing products 4.3" screens. The larger screen size is important for more then just watching movies. it provides a better web browsing experience with less zooming, larger more comfortable keyboards and more finger room for gaming.
Ah no I'm just thinking of the next year as in the next 365 days basicly I want all that tech by this time next year although when I think about it it does seem like overkill when they all have so many overlapping functions between them. Funny you should mention the PSP I've been playing Fifa on mine most of the day it's still pretty good even with it's age. I'm still not sure there will be one which would actually solve my dillema about buying it but I think there have been snippets of code in IOS5 that hint at one. If it does appear I'm expecting it to be basicly the touch 4 with just an a5 chip I can't see apple doing anything actually useful to it like gps or full bluetooth profiles.
